I'M SO EXCITED. I CAN'T WAIT.

ALL RIGHT, SO WE WILL MOVE ON TO OUR FUTURE ACTION ITEMS, AGENDA ITEM FOUR POINT ONE,

[4.0 Future Action Item(s)]

LATE WORK POLICY REVIEW, DR.

MCFARLAND. SO, MADAM PRESIDENT AND BOARD MEMBERS, AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE HAVE BEEN REVIEWING OUR LATE WORK POLICY DUE TO A LOT OF THE REALITIES THAT WE'VE EXPERIENCED AS RELATES TO THE. AS IT RELATES TO THE PANDEMIC.

WE KNOW IT HAS CREATED SOME CHALLENGES, BOTH FOR TEACHERS, FOR FAMILIES, FOR STUDENTS.

AND SO WE THOUGHT IT'D BE PRUDENT AFTER YOUR CONVERSATIONS AND QUESTIONS.

WE DEFINITELY APPRECIATE YOU ALL SHARING STAKEHOLDERS CONCERNS.

AND SO WE HAVE ACTUALLY MET SEVERAL TIMES TO REVISE OUR LATE WORK POLICY.

AND MR. KEITH IS HERE TO SHARE THE WORK UP TO THIS POINT.

MR. KEITH? THANK YOU, DR.

MCFARLAND. GOOD EVENING PRESIDENT HALL AND BOARD MEMBERS.

SO TONIGHT AS DR.

MCFARLAND SAID. WE ARE HERE TO TAKE A LOOK AT OUR REVISED DRAFT OF OUR REVISED LATE WORK POLICY. WE'LL TAKE FEEDBACK FROM YOU ON THIS POLICY AND THEN BRING IT BACK ON JANUARY TWENTY EIGHT FOR AS AN ACTION ITEM.

SO ON THE NEXT SLIDE, YOU CAN SEE THE PURPOSE OF OUR PRESENTATION HERE TO REVIEW A DRAFT OF THE LATE WORK POLICY AND THEN ON THE NEXT SLIDE, JUST THE PROCESS THAT GOT US HERE.

SO JUST A REMINDER THAT IN EARLY NOVEMBER THERE WAS A REQUEST TO REVIEW THE GRADING GUIDELINES. WE BROUGHT OUR CURRENT GRADING GUIDELINES TO THE BOARD FOR DISCUSSION.

CONVENED OUR GRADING GUIDELINES COMMITTEE IN EARLY DECEMBER BROUGHT THAT INFORMATION REGARDING SURROUNDING DISTRICTS LATE WORK POLICIES BACK TO THE BOARD.

THEN, BASED ON YOUR FEEDBACK BOARD, WE BROUGHT THE GRADING GUIDELINES COMMITTEE BACK TOGETHER ON JANUARY 11TH TO REVIEW A DRAFT OF A PROPOSED POLICY.

WE GOT FEEDBACK ON THAT FROM THE COMMITTEE, AS WELL AS FROM A FOCUS GROUP OF ABOUT TWENTY FIVE TEACHERS REVIEWED THAT DRAFT.

AND THEN WE'RE HERE TONIGHT ON JANUARY 14TH WITH THIS BOARD PRESENTATION TO LOOK AT THE DRAFT AND THEN PROPOSED ACTION ON JANUARY TWENTY EIGHTH.

AND THIS IMPLEMENTATION WOULD BE FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER.

SO JUST A QUICK REVIEW OF WHAT OUR CURRENT LATE WORK POLICIES LOOK LIKE IN OUR GRADING GUIDELINES THAT SAYS THE CAMPUS LATE WORK POLICIES MUST ALIGN WITH THE DISTRICT GRADING PHILOSOPHY.

APPLIES REALLY SPECIFICALLY AT THE ELEMENTARY GRADE LEVEL, AS THEY HAVE HAD THE FLEXIBILITY TO CREATE THEIR OWN LATE WORK POLICIES.

AND THE PENALTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED FOR LATE WORK, ACCORDING TO THE CAMPUS LATE WORK POLICY. AND THEN SPECIFICALLY AT SECONDARY.

ON THE NEXT SLIDE, YOU CAN SEE THAT THE GRADING GUIDELINES PROVIDE THAT ASSIGNMENTS THAT

[00:10:02]

ARE LATE ONE SCHOOL DAY WILL BE REDUCED BY 10 PERCENT.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS ANY DATA AFTER WILL BE REDUCED UP TO 50 PERCENT IN THE SIX WEEK GRADING PERIOD. AND THE TEACHER SETS THE FINAL CUTOFF DATE FOR LATE WORK WITH CAMPUS AND DISTRICT GUIDELINES. SO AS WE WORK TO REVAMP THIS, BASED ON YOUR FEEDBACK, BASED ON THE FEEDBACK OF THE GRADING GUIDELINES COMMITTEE, BASED ON OUR RESEARCH, BASED ON TEACHER FEEDBACK, THERE WERE THREE THINGS THAT WE TOOK AS OUR GUIDING CONSIDERATIONS.

THE FIRST WAS CONSISTENCY.

SO WE WANTED TO COMMUNICATE A CONSISTENT MESSAGE ABOUT LATE WORK ACROSS THE DISTRICTS.

THE SECOND WAS CLARITY.

SO WE WANTED TO PROVIDE TEACHERS WITH CLEAR DIRECTION FOR PROVIDING EXAMPLES AND SCENARIOS SO THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO, IN PRACTICE, IDENTIFY EXACTLY HOW THE LATE WORK POLICY WOULD WORK.

AND THEN THE LAST WAS INCENTIVE.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVEN IF STUDENTS ARE NOT ABLE TO TURN IN WORK BY A CERTAIN TIME, THEY STILL HAVE INCENTIVE TO COMPLETE THE WORK AND DEMONSTRATE MASTERY SO THAT THE TEACHERS CAN PROVIDE FEEDBACK AND HELP THAT STUDENT CONTINUE TO LEARN.

THAT'S IN ALIGNMENT WITH OUR CURRENT GRADING GUIDELINES AS WELL AS BOARD POLICY.

SO THEN WHAT I'D LIKE TO SHOW YOU HERE IS THE PROPOSED LATE WORK POLICY, SO I'M GOING TO TAKE YOU THROUGH THIS AND THEN WE'LL LOOK AT A FEW SCENARIOS AND THEN I'LL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

SO THE WAY THAT WE'VE SET UP THIS POLICY IS AS A REDUCTION OF A PERCENT OF THE ORIGINAL GRADE. SO FOR A STUDENT WHO TURNED IN WORK ONE DAY LATE THAT THEIR GRADE WOULD BE 90 PERCENT OF THE ORIGINAL GRADE, THAT THEY WOULD HAVE EARNED TWO DAYS LATE WAS 80 PERCENT OF THE ORIGINAL GRADE.

THREE DAYS LATE SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT OF THE ORIGINAL GRADE.

AND THEN YOU'LL SEE THIS NEXT SENTENCE.

AND THIS REALLY GOES TO THAT CLARITY.

AFTER THREE DAYS, A STUDENT HAS UNTIL THE FRIDAY, ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE END OF THE MARKING PERIOD TO SUBMIT LATE WORK.

AND AT THAT POINT THE WORK WILL EARN 70 PERCENT OF THE ORIGINAL GRADE.

THAT SPEAKS TO THE INCENTIVE PIECE OF THE LATE WORK POLICY WHERE WE WANT TO PROVIDE STUDENTS AS MUCH MOTIVATION AS POSSIBLE TO SUBMIT THEIR WORK.

YOU CAN SEE THE NEXT SENTENCE JUST DEALS WITH STUDENTS ON AN AP SCHEDULE.

THAT'S THE CLARITY PIECE.

AND THEN THE LAST SENTENCE.

THE TEACHERS RETAIN THE ABILITY TO USE PROFESSIONAL JUDGMENT AND DISCRETION IN EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES.

SO WE WOULD NEVER WANT TO STAND BETWEEN A TEACHER EXTENDING GRACE TO A STUDENT WHO MAY HAVE HAD AN EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES.

WE THOUGHT THAT WAS IMPORTANT TO INCLUDE.

SO I'LL PAUSE THERE.

I'LL SEE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AND THEN WE CAN GO INTO THE SCENARIOS.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, MR. KEITH, ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? I HAVE A QUESTION JUST.

I APPRECIATE THAT YOU SAID THERE WAS A PANEL OF TEACHERS THAT WAS INVOLVED IN REVIEWING THIS DRAFT. DID THEY? WHAT WAS THEIR INPUT ON IT? ABSOLUTELY. SO OVERALL, VERY POSITIVE.

THEY LIKE THE CLARITY ON IT.

I WILL SAY THE MOST COMMON TEACHER CONCERN IN THE FEEDBACK WAS JUST ABOUT THE POTENTIAL AMOUNT OF WORK WITH BEING ABLE WITH EXTENDING THAT DEADLINE TO THE WEEK PRIOR TO THE MARKING PERIOD, WHICH I THINK IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION. SO OUR PLAN IS TO BRING THE GRADING GUIDELINES COMMITTEE BACK TOGETHER AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER, REVIEW THE POLICY AGAIN, SEE IF THERE NEEDS TO BE ANY ADJUSTMENTS. BUT OVERALL, TEACHERS LIKE THE CLARITY AND CONSISTENCY OF THE POLICY.

I THINK IT'S A REALLY GOOD IDEA TO HAVE THAT VERY FORMAL CUT OFF, BECAUSE AS FAR AS I KNOW, UP UNTIL THIS TIME, IT'S JUST BEEN EACH TEACHER KIND OF SETTING HIS OR HER OWN CUTOFF FOR ACCEPTING LATE WORK.

SO IT'S GOOD TO HAVE SOME CLARITY AROUND THAT.

THANK YOU, MS. BENTON, ARE THERE ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? I WOULD JUST LIKE TO MAKE A COMMENT.

I TOO APPRECIATE TEACHERS AND THE COMMITTEE LOOKING AT THE LATE WORK POLICY AND REVIEWING IT. I THINK THAT THIS NEW POLICY REALLY GRADES STUDENTS ON THEIR CONTENT KNOWLEDGE VERSUS THEIR BEHAVIOR AND RESPONSIBILITY.

SO I HOPE IT IS SOMETHING THAT WE DO CONSIDER BECAUSE I DO THINK THIS WILL JUDGE MASTERY VERSUS RESPONSIBILITY.

THANK YOU, MS. ROBINSON, FOR YOUR COMMENT.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? OK, WELL, TO ECHO THE SENTIMENTS OF TRUSTEES ROBINSON AND BENTON, I APPRECIATE THE CONSISTENCY ACROSS THE BOARD.

SO THANK YOU FOR THE TIME DEDICATED AND THE THE ATTENTION GIVEN TO THIS.

AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THE PROPOSAL, CONSIDERING IT FOR FUTURE ACTION.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? ALL RIGHT, SO JUST TO SEE WHAT THIS WILL LOOK LIKE IN ACTION, I JUST HAD A FEW SCENARIOS I CAN WALK THROUGH VERY QUICKLY AND THEN TURN IT BACK TO DR.

[00:15:01]

MCFARLAND. SO YOU CAN SEE HERE IN SCENARIO A, THIS WOULD BE WORK THAT STUDENTS SUBMITTED A DAY LATE. YOU CAN SEE THAT THEIR ORIGINAL GRADE IN THIS CASE, FOR EXAMPLE, WAS AN EIGHTY SEVEN, WHICH IS THAT EIGHTY SEVEN MULTIPLIED BY THAT 90 PERCENT, THE FINAL GRADE THAT GOES IN THE GRADE BOOK IS A SEVENTY EIGHT PERCENT.

AND SO THEN SCENARIOS B AND C WORK EXACTLY THE SAME WAY JUST AS A PERCENTAGE OF THE ORIGINAL GRADE. AND THEN SCENARIO D, YOU CAN SEE THIS IS WORK THAT WAS SUBMITTED UP TO ABOUT ONE WEEK BEFORE THE END OF THE MARKING PERIOD.

YOU CAN SEE THAT THE STUDENT IS STILL RECEIVING CREDIT FOR THE WORK, EVEN THOUGH THEY'VE BEEN WELL PAST THE DUE DATE TO TRUSTEE ROBINSON'S POINT, GIVING THE TEACHER A CHANCE TO EVALUATE MASTERING AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO THE STUDENTS.

SO DR.

MCFARLAND, I'LL TURN IT BACK OVER TO YOU SIR. ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU, MR. KEITH. AND ALSO WE WANT TO THANK THE PRINCIPALS AND THE TEACHERS THAT WERE PART OF THIS, AND I JUST WANTED TO MAKE A POINT.

BOARD PRESIDENT HALL THAT'S THE REASON WE'RE WE'RE EVEN REVIEWING THIS IS BECAUSE THE WAY THE SYSTEM WORKED, THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO WORK, THE PARENTS SHARE A CONCERN TO SOME OF OUR TRUSTEE. THE TRUSTEE SHARED A SHARED THE CONCERN ABOUT THE POLICY TO THE DISTRICT LEVEL PERSONNEL.

THEY PULLED THE COMMITTEE TOGETHER.

WE PUT A COMMITTEE TOGETHER, AND NOW WE START BRINGING IT BACK TO YOU.

AND I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR THE TEAMWORK.

I THINK THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES IN ORDER FOR US TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE WE ARE ACHIEVING THE LEVEL OF SUCCESS WE WANT.

SO I JUST WANT TO THANK THE BOARD FOR THE TEAMWORK IN HELPING US TO GET TO A POLICY THAT WE BELIEVE WILL TAKE TAKE CONSIDERATION AND TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION ALL THE CONCERNS THAT WERE SHARED. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, DR. MCFARLAND, AND THANK YOU, MR. KEITH. WE'LL NOW MOVE TO AGENDA ITEM FOUR POINT TWO DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN WITH BOARD CALLS AND PROGRESS MONITORING, DR.

MCFARLAND. SO, MADAM PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS, AS YOU ALL KNOW, THIS IS THE TIME OF THE YEAR THAT WE WILL ADOPT OUR EXCUSE ME, APPROVE OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN.

TONIGHT, WE JUST BRING IT TO YOU FOR FUTURE ACTION AND WE'LL TAKE ACTION, I BELIEVE, AT THE NEXT BOARD MEETING IN JANUARY.

BUT TONIGHT, WE WILL SHARE WITH YOU OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN AT THE PRIOR BOARD MEETINGS WE HAD ON CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PLANS AND ALSO ON [INAUDIBLE] IMPROVEMENT PLANS.

THIS, AGAIN, IS A REQUIREMENT FOR US TO PRESENT TO YOU ALL.

THIS WILL PROVIDE KIND OF AN OVERVIEW OF SOME OF THE ACTIONS THAT WE ARE TAKING.

IT WILL NOT BE ALL INCLUSIVE, BUT IT WILL HAVE THE THE MAIN PORTION OF THE ACTION THAT WE ARE ENGAGED IN IN THE DISTRICT TO IMPROVE IMPROVE OUR DISTRICT.

MS. ISABELL IS HERE PREPARED TO ADDRESS THIS ITEM.

MS. ISABELL. THANK YOU. DR. MCFARLAND, PRESIDENT HALL AND BOARD MEMBERS.

THIS EVENING REPRESENTING THE DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN, WHICH ADDRESSES ALL THREE GOALS.

GOALS ONE, TWO AND THREE.

FIRST, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VISIONARY BOARD MEMBERS FOR SETTING FORTH A CLEAR, CONCISE, SMART GOALS IN OUR VISION 2025.

USING THIS DOCUMENT AS A GUIDE, OUR DISTRICT DEPARTMENT HAS COMPLETED THE DETAILS FOR TH E CISD 2020 2021 DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN.

THREE FOLLOWING THOSE WERE SET FORTH SPECIFIC SMART GOALS WERE SET FORTH FOR US THAT IS THRIVING STUDENTS, ENGAGED COMMUNITY, EMPOWERED STAFF.

THEY ARE THE FOUNDATION FOR THE 2021 DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN.

ALSO INCLUDED ARE THE BOARD GOAL PROGRESS MEASURES IDENTIFIED IN THE LONE STAR GOVERNANCE PROCESS.

CONTINUING MONITORING OF THE BOARD PRIORITIES ARE THE [INAUDIBLE] OF DIP.

THOSE PRIORITIES INCLUDE AFRICAN-AMERICAN ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, READING, MATH, ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE, COLLEGE CAREER AND MILITARY READINESS.

THIS HERE ON THIS SIDE ARE THE DETAILS AND EXPECTATION FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS.

THE FIRST GOAL SPEAKS TO THE PERCENTAGE OF AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS MEETING STANDARD ON THIRD GRADE STAAR READING THAT IT WILL INCREASE FROM 28 PERCENT TO FORTY EIGHT PERCENT BY JUNE 2025.

THE SECOND GOAL SPEAKS TO THE PERCENTAGE OF ALL STUDENTS MEETING THE STANDARD OF THIRD GRADE STAAR MATH, WHICH WILL INCREASE FROM FORTY FIVE PERCENT TO 60 PERCENT BY JUNE 2025.

THE THIRD GOAL SPEAKS TO THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS MEETING STANDARD ON THE FIFTH GRADE STAAR READING THAT WE ARE INTENDING TO INCREASE IT FROM 42 PERCENT TO 57 PERCENT BY JUNE 2025. THE FOURTH GOAL SPEAKS TO THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS MEETING A STANDARD OF EIGHTH GRADE STAAR MATH, AND IT WILL INCREASE FROM THIRTY SEVEN PERCENT TO 58 PERCENT BY JUNE 2025. THE FIFTH GROWTH GOAL SPEAKS TO THE PERCENTAGE OF COLLEGE CAREER AND MILITARY READY STUDENTS AND WE WILL INCREASE THAT GROWTH 58 PERCENT TO SEVEN THREE PERCENT BY 2020, JUNE 2025.

[00:20:02]

ANOTHER MAJOR FOCUS IS OUR NORTH STAR GOAL, AND OUR NORTH STAR GOAL IS TO BECOME THE TOP PERFORMING DISTRICT IN TARRANT COUNTY BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF A AND B SEATS FROM SEVEN PERCENT IN 2018 TO [INAUDIBLE] PERCENT THAT WE ARE NOW, IT MOVES FROM SEVEN PERCENT IN 2018 TO THIRTY EIGHT PERCENT IN 2019.

AND WITH OUR PROJECTIONS, WE ARE CURRENTLY PROJECTING THAT OUR TODAY WOULD BE 72 PERCENT.

THEREFORE, WE FEEL THAT BY 2025 WE WILL DEFINITELY REACH OUR ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF OUR STUDENTS BEING A AND B STUDENTS BASED ON THE QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS PROGRAM.

WE ALSO PLACE AN EMPHASIS ON SPECIFIC NEW STRATEGIES, ONE OF THE NEW STRATEGIES, OUR STEM+ STRATEGY IS STEM FOR ALL, OUT P-TECH STRATEGY WHICH WE WILL HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS AFTERNOON, TONIGHT IN DETAIL, AND THEN ALSO OUR MONTESSORI AND OUR TEACHER INCENTIVE ALLOTMENT PROGRAM. THE DIP IS A LIVING, BREATHING DOCUMENT, AND IT IS MONITORED A MINIMUM OF AT LEAST FOUR TIMES PER YEAR.

AND WE WALK, WE [INAUDIBLE] THE PROGRESS MADE TO OUR [INAUDIBLE] ON JANUARY 29TH WE WILL HAVE OUR NEXT FORMAL UPDATE.

SO WE ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING AT THIS AND MAKING SURE WE'RE MEETING OUR GOALS.

OUR DEPARTMENT LEADERS AND I STAND READY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE AT THIS TIME. THANK YOU, MS. ISABELL, FOR YOUR REPORT, ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? MS. ISABELL, ON THAT EARLY SLIDE, ONE OF THE EARLIEST SLIDES, DID IT SAY THAT THE BOARD PRIORITY FOUR WAS.

ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE.

THE ONE BEFORE THAT, DO THOSE MATCH? THIS THESE WERE GIVEN AFRICAN AMERICAN READING, WRITING, READING, MATH AND WE DIDN'T SPEAK TO ATTENDANCE ON SPECIFIC DETAIL.

WE SPOKE TO INSTEAD WE LOOKED AT OUR EIGHTH GRADE MATH AND ENGLISH [INAUDIBLE] CCMR. WE DID NOT SPEAK TO THE ATTENDANCE.

BUT THAT IS A FOCUS FOR US.

WE ARE THAT'S PART OF OUR MAIN INTEREST AS WE GO THROUGH ON A REGULAR BASIS.

SO THESE THESE FIVE DON'T NECESSARILY COINCIDE TO THE FIVE ON THE NEXT SCREEN? RIGHT, THE OTHER THING IS MISSING A [INAUDIBLE] ON THERE WOULD BE THE ATTENDANCE, ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE.

OK. I DIDN'T I DIDN'T RECALL ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE BEING ONE OF OUR BOARD PRIORITIES FROM THAT DISCUSSION, BUT THAT MAY JUST BE ME NOT REMEMBERING THAT RIGHT.

I DIDN'T RECALL IT EITHER.

I WAS GOING TO ASK CAN YOU OFFER SOME MORE CLARITY THAT SOMETHING THAT'S CHANGED SINCE, YOU KNOW, THIS ENVIRONMENT? I DIDN'T REMEMBER IT PREVIOUSLY EITHER.

I THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL ACADEMIC GOALS.

SO THEY WERE ALL ACADEMIC GOALS.

AND I NEED TO GO BACK AND LOOK AND SEE.

IT MAY I NEED TO GO BACK AND LOOK AND SEE IT MAY HAVE EVOLVED AFTER.

BECAUSE AFTER THE CENTRAL AFTER THE BOARD HAD THEIR LONG FOR GOVERNANCE TIME WE ALSO LOOKED AT DATA AS WELL.

AND IT MAY HAVE BEEN IT MAY HAVE BEEN SOMETHING THAT CAME OUT.

IT'S SOMETHING WE NEED TO PRIORITIZE INTERNALLY WITH OUR CAMPUS PLANS AND ALL.

BUT IT WAS NOT DEFINITELY AT THE LEVEL OF A BOARD GOAL FOR SURE, AND IT WOULD NOT HAVE MET THE REQUIREMENT OF A LONE OF A LONE STAR GOVERNANCE AS FAR AS FAR AS A PRIORITY IS CONCERNED. SO LET US LET US LOOK AT THAT TO SEE AND WE'LL BE ABLE TO KIND OF REALLY IDENTIFY WHETHER WHETHER ATTENDANCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN HERE OR NOT.

BUT IT WAS NOT A DEFINITE BOARD GOAL FOR SURE.

WE WILL BE HAPPY TO DEFINITELY LOOK AT THAT AGAIN, AND REMOVE THAT.

WE DO KNOW FOR US WITH COVID AND VIRTUAL LEARNING EVERYTHING, ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR US. BUT LIKE DR.

MCFARLAND IS SAYING, THIS TYPE OF GOAL WE NEED TO HAVE [INAUDIBLE].

YES. AND TO CLARIFY, I AM NOT SAYING THAT ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE IS NOT IMPORTANT.

I JUST DIDN'T RECALL IT FROM THOSE PARTICULAR DISCUSSIONS.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THE OTHER GOAL, THE NORTH STAR, IF YOU GO FORWARD, MS. ISABELL. SO THE NORTH STAR GOAL IS ACTUALLY WAS NOT A PART OF OUR OUR DISCUSSIONS AS WELL. BUT THE NORTH STAR GOAL IS A PART OF THE SYSTEM OF GREAT SCHOOLS THAT WE'RE CONNECTED WITH. WE HAVE TO HAVE A NORTH STAR GOAL THAT TALKS ABOUT THE NUMBER OF A AND B SCHOOLS AND THE NUMBER OF A AND B SEATS.

AND SO THIS IS SOMETHING WHEN AT A IN A FUTURE BOARD MEETING.

WE'LL TALK ABOUT THE SYSTEM OF GREAT SCHOOLS AND ALL THE KEY COMPONENTS AND WHAT'S REQUIRED.

UPON THE SYSTEM OF GREAT SCHOOLS REQUIRES US TO HAVE A NORTH STAR GOAL IN OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN. SO THAT'S WHY THIS ONE SHOWS UP HERE.

BUT WE'LL GO IN DETAIL ABOUT WHAT THAT MEANS LATER.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, THANK YOU FOR THAT QUESTION MS. BENTON. ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD REGARDING THE DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN? ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU DR.

[00:25:02]

MCFARLAND. THANK YOU, MS. ISABELL. WE'LL NOW MOVE TO OUR REPORT ITEMS PORTION OF THE

[5.0 Report Item(s)]

AGENDA. AGENDA ITEM FIVE POINT ONE, THE OVERVIEW OF ADDITIONAL DAYS SCHOOL YEAR FOR DAVID L. WALKER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

DR. MCFARLAND. SO, MADAM PRESIDENT AND BOARD MEMBERS, WE WANT TO GIVE YOU AN OVERVIEW TONIGHT OF THE TRANSFORMATIONAL WORK THAT WILL BE OCCURRING AT DAVID WALKER.

AND WE HAVE DR.

WILLIAMS HERE PREPARED TO ADDRESS THIS ITEM.

DR. WILLIAMS? GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT, DISTINGUISHED BOARD MEMBERS AND DR.

MCFARLAND.

THIS EVENING I BRING TO YOU A HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW OF THE ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL YEAR AT DAVE WALKER ELEMENTARY THAT ALIGNS WITH OUR VISION 2025 GOAL ONE THRIVING STUDENTS, GOAL THREE EMPOWER STAFF.

STARTING WITH THE WHY, ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL YEAR AT DAVID WALKER CAN BE BENEFICIAL TO BOTH STUDENTS AND TEACHERS.

ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL YEAR WAS IMPLEMENTED AS A PART OF THE PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL THREE BY THE EIGHTY SIX TEXAS LEGISLATION AS A PROACTIVE APPROACH TO PROVIDE SCHOOL DISTRICTS WITH ADDITIONAL HALF-DAY FUNDING FOR ADDITIONAL DAYS TO BE ADDED TO THE SCHOOL YEAR TO ADDRESS SUMMER LEARNING LOSS.

ADDITIONALLY, THE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL DAY YEAR INITIATIVE ADDRESSES THE CUMULATIVE IMPACT OF SUMMER LEARNING, WHICH HAS BEEN SHOWN TO CREATE GAPS UP TO THREE GRADE LEVELS FOR STUDENTS BY FIFTH GRADE.

CURRENTLY, WE ARE ENTERING PHASE TWO OF OUR PLAN YEAR FOR OUR FULL YEAR REDESIGN OF ADSY AND THE GRANT THAT WAS AWARDED TO OUR DISTRICT.

STUDENT ACADEMIC GROWTH IS A MEASURE OF A CHILD'S INDIVIDUAL LEVELS IN BOTH MATH AND READING. THE DESIGN OF DAVID WALKER ALLOWS FOR US AS A DISTRICT TO INCREASED INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTES AND THE NUMBER OF DAYS WHILE MAXIMIZING ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.

THE ADDITIONAL DAYS ALLOWS FOR BOTH THE TEACHERS AND CAMPUS SUPPORT STAFF TO FOCUS ON THE SOCIAL NEEDS OF STUDENTS WHILE ALLOWING US TO HAVE TIME FOR SEL, MENTAL BREAKS, INTEREST BASED ACTIVITIES AND UNSTRUCTURED PLAY.

ADDITIONAL DAYS, EXCUSE ME.

ADDITIONAL DAYS AT DAVID WALKER REFLECTS THE EMPHASIS ON THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS, WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED TO MAXIMIZE ACHIEVEMENT? THE PLANNING COMMITTEE WORK BACKWARDS TO PLAN TO ENSURE THAT WE HAD ALL THE SUPPORT SYSTEMS AND STRUCTURES IN PLACE TO MEET THOSE NEEDS.

ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL YEAR PROVIDE, PROVIDED DAVID WALKER ADDITIONAL TIME BUILT INTO THE SCHOOL'S MASTER SCHEDULE.

THE FLEXIBILITY ADDRESS, STUDENT INTERVENTION, TEACHER PLC TIME, STUDENT BASED ACTIVITIES AS WELL.

ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL ALLOWS FOR THE TEACHERS TO GO IN MORE DEPTH WITH THEIR CONTENT AREA AND ALLOW FOR STUDENTS MORE TIME TO MASTER THE SKILLS, IN ADDITION TO THE BENEFITS TO BOTH THE STUDENTS AND THE TEACHERS.

DAVID WALKER HAS A CAPACITY FOR GROWTH FOR NEW STUDENTS TO ENTER OUR DISTRICT.

ANTHONY YOU CAN GO BACK, EXCUSE ME.

SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE AT DAVID WALKER AND OTHER ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES? DAVID WALKER WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE A TRADITIONAL STRUCTURE WITH ADDITION TO NEW COMPONENTS THAT ARE ADDRESSED LATER IN MY PRESENTATION.

WHAT MAKES THE ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL WORK IS THE HALF-DAY FUNDING FOR THE ADDITIONAL 30 DAYS THAT IS ADDED TO THE TRADITIONAL CALENDAR.

THE TEACHER SCHOOL SCHOOL YEAR WILL START JULY 6TH AND THE STUDENTS WILL FOLLOW WILL START THE FOLLOWING WEEK OF JULY 12TH.

THE SCHOOL YEAR WILL END ON JUNE 3RD, WITH ADDED TWO DAYS FOR BAD WEATHER BUILT INTO THE DRAFT CALENDAR THAT I'LL SPEAK LATER ABOUT FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER, WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY END THE SCHOOL YEAR JUNE SIX.

DURING THE EARLY START OF THE SUMMER, STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN DAVID WALKER'S ACCELERATED ACADEMY, WHERE THEY'LL FOCUS ON BOTH ON GRADE LEVEL AND ABOVE, AS WELL AS ALL GRADE LEVEL SKILL MASTERY.

I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT THE WORK.

I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT THE WORK OF OUR EXTENDED PARTNERS, ENGAGE TO LEARN WHO IS OUR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE THAT WE WORK ALONGSIDE THE PLANNING COMMITTEE ON DOCUMENTS THAT ARE SUBMITTED TO TEA THROUGHOUT THE PLANNING YEAR, AS WELL AS THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING WITH BANDERA, WHO IS CREATING A SHARED LANGUAGE TO BOTH COMMUNICATE TO THE EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS ON THE SIGNATURE PROGRAM OF DAVID WALKER BEING A BENEFIT TO OUR DISTRICT. NEXT SLIDE.

ONE OF THE AREAS, AREAS THEY WANT TO FOCUS ON IS ATTRACTING THE EARLIEST LEARNERS TO OUR DISTRICT BY OFFERING ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR FAMILY.

THE CREATION OF OUR EARLY LEARNERS ACADEMY WILL EXPAND OUR OPPORTUNITY FOR MONTESSORI PROGRAMING STARTING AT THE AGES OF 18 MONTHS TO THE AGES OF SIX YEARS OF AGE.

THIS IS ALL POSSIBLE THROUGH THE WORK OF OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD DIRECTOR MS. BLUNT AND THE PARTNERSHIP THAT WE HAVE, EARLY HEAD START AND HEAD START.

LASTLY, THERE HAS BEEN A NEED TO EXPAND EMPLOYEE CHILD CARE AND WE'RE EXPLORING THE OPTIONS TO PROVIDE CISD EMPLOYEES WITH ADDITIONAL CHILD CARE.

[00:30:05]

AS FAR AS LOGISTICS, OUR COMMITTEE LOOKED AT THE POTENTIAL IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY, PARENTS, STUDENTS AND TEACHERS AS A PART OF OUR MARKETING PLAN, WE WILL BE INFORMING PARENTS ACROSS THE DISTRICT THAT THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO OPT IN OR OPT OUT USING OUR DISTRICT TRANSFER POLICY PROTOCOLS.

WE ARE AWARE THAT ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR EARLY LEARNERS MAY BE AN ATTRACTIVE OPTION FOR ALL OUR CISD FAMILIES.

STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY AT DAVID WALKER WILL HAVE TO ATTEND ADDITIONAL DAYS.

BUT THE COMMITTEE WANTS TO ENSURE THAT THERE'S CONSISTENCY WITH THE CISD HOLIDAY BREAK SCHEDULES TO ALLOW FAMILIES THE ABILITY TO BE TOGETHER IF THEY HAVE MULTIPLE SIBLINGS OR STUDENTS WITHIN OUR DISTRICT AT VARIOUS LEVELS.

TEACHERS WHO CURRENTLY WORK AT DAVID WALKER WILL HAVE TO REAPPLY IF THEY WISH TO WORK AN ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL YEAR.

WE'LL BE CONDUCTING STRATEGIC STAFFING AT DAVID WALKER, MUCH LIKE WHAT OCCURRED AT JAY HARGRAVE H REDESIGN.

TEACHERS WHO ELECT NOT TO WORK AT DAVID WALKER WILL BE REASSIGNED TO ANOTHER CISD CAMPUS.

FINALLY, THOSE TEACHERS WHO APPLY AND ARE HIRED AT DAVID WALKER WILL RECEIVE A PAY DIFFERENTIAL FOR THOSE ADDITIONAL DAYS.

SOME OF THE UNIQUE COMPONENTS OF THE ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOLS YEAR AT DAVID WALKER, HAS BEEN DISCUSSED, BUT I WANTED TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE HIGHLIGHT THE BENEFITS TO BOTH STUDENTS AND TEACHERS WHO ATTEND DAVID WALKER THIS UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR.

STUDENTS WILL HAVE ADDITIONAL TIME FOR ACTIVITIES SUCH AS RECESS AND UNSTRUCTURED PLAY.

TEACHERS WILL HAVE MORE TIME TO COLLABORATE AND FOCUS ON AN OVERALL FOCUS ON BOTH MATH AND LITERACY AT EVERY GRADE LEVEL.

ALSO, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE A STRONG PARTNERSHIP IN ALL OF OUR EXISTING EXISTING PARTNERSHIP WITH 21ST CENTURY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM THAT WILL BE OFFERING THESE INTEREST BASED ACTIVITIES TO KEEP KIDS ENGAGED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

TO ENSURE MORE COLLABORATION AMONG ALL THE TEACHERS WE ARE IMPLEMENTING TO GOMEZ AND GOMEZ INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL CAMPUS WIDE.

ONE UNIQUE ELEMENT OF THE STRUCTURE AT DAVID WALKER WILL BE THE TEACHER'S ABILITY TO LOOP WITH THEIR STUDENTS, AS YOU SEE HERE, GRADES K ONE AND K ONE, GRADES TWO AND THREE, GRADES FOUR AND FIVE TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE FAMILIES AND STUDENTS OVER A TWO YEAR PERIOD TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN CAMPUS AND TO THE HOME OF THE STUDENTS.

OVERALL WE BELIEVE THAT THEN ADDITIONAL DAY SCHOOL YEAR PROVIDES THE STUDENTS AT DAVID WALKER WITH THE ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL SUPPORT TO BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WHILE FOCUSING ON SUSTAINABLE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT.

HERE IS JUST A DRAFT OF THE CALENDAR THAT WE HAVE THAT WILL BE PROPOSED AND IT WILL GO LATER THIS MONTH, AS YOU SEE HERE, THE JULY SIX TO THE 9TH ARE ACTUAL TEACHER PD DAYS.

I TALKED ABOUT THE TEACHER STARTING EARLY AND IN THE 12TH THROUGH THE 6TH OF AUGUST WOULD BE WHAT WE WOULD CALL THEM, THE ACCELERATED ACADEMY FOR STUDENTS TO START.

THOSE ARE THOSE ARE THE ADSY DAYS THROUGHOUT THE CALENDAR WHERE YOU SEE THE HIGHLIGHTED BLUE. THOSE ARE ADDITIONAL ADSY DAYS THAT WE HAVE THOSE ACCELERATED DAYS AS WELL.

AND THEN GO BACK INTO THE CALENDAR ON THE JUNE 3RD.

YOU'LL SEE THAT WOULD BE THE LAST DAY.

AND THEN THOSE INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS ARE JUNE SIX AND SEVEN IF NEEDED.

THAT IS A REQUIREMENT, PART OF TEA THAT WE HAD TO BUILD THAT INTO THE CALENDAR FOR FUNDING MECHANISMS. THAT CONCLUDES MY PRESENTATION.

IF THERE'S ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME, I'M WILLING TO ANSWER THEM AT THIS TIME.

THANK YOU, DR. WILLIAMS, ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD? I HAVE A QUESTION, MS. HALL, AND I DON'T KNOW IF THIS FOR DR.

WILLIAMS OR DR. MCFARLAND, BUT THE ADDITIONAL 30 DAYS, HOW WILL THAT IMPACT ARE ADA? HOW WILL THAT MEASURE INTO OUR ADA? SO AS A PART OF THE AS PART OF THE GRANT, WE DO GET FUNDING FOR FOR THE ADDITIONAL DAYS.

AND SO THAT WOULD BASICALLY WILL THEIR PAY WILL BE MODIFIED IN AN AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT WE GET FROM THE STATE WILL BE ADJUSTED BASED ON THOSE ADDITIONAL DAYS.

OK, OK, THANK YOU.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? WELL, THANK YOU SO MUCH, DR.

WILLIAMS. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, DR. MCFARLAND.

MOVING ON TO AGENDA ITEM FIVE POINT TWO PATHWAYS IN TECHNOLOGY, EARLY COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOL, P-TECH OVERVIEW.

MADAM PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS, WE'LL DEFINITELY EXCITED TO BRING FORWARD THIS NEXT INITIATIVE, AS YOU KNOW, WE HAVE DONE QUITE A BIT OF WORK AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL AND EARLY CHILDHOOD LEVEL.

AND SO NOW THIS P-TECH ACADEMY GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO ADD SOME INNOVATIVE PROGRAMING

[00:35:03]

AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL, THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL, SO THAT WE CAN INCREASE STUDENTS CHOICES AND OPPORTUNITIES WHEN THEY LEAVE US.

DR. PORTER HAS BEEN WORKING AND LEADING UP THIS P-TECH INITIATIVE.

SO DR. PORTER WILL BE PRESENTING IN THIS ITEM ON THIS ITEM, DR.

PORTER. THANK YOU, DR.

MCFARLAND. GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT, DR.

MCFARLAND, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

AS YOU KNOW, I AM HEADING UP THE P-TECH ACADEMY AND I'M PLEASED TO BRING YOU THIS BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT WE ARE DOING IN P-TECH.

THE FIRST THING THAT I'M GOING TO DO IS POINT OUT THAT IT IS ALIGNED WITH GOAL ONE AND IT ALSO IS ALIGNED WITH PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE, TWO, AND STRATEGY FIVE IN OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN.

SO IN ORDER FOR US TO GET A GOOD GRASP, THE P-TECH ACADEMY HERE THAT WE'RE BUILDING IN CROWLEY ISD, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE NEED TO LOOK AT IS WHAT IS P-TECH? AND SO THIS IS A GENERAL OVERVIEW.

IF YOU WANT TO THINK OF P-TECH AS AN EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, ESSENTIALLY FOR TRADES OR AN EARLY COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOL FOR CTE PROGRAMS OF STUDY.

SO PATHWAYS IN TECHNOLOGY, EARLY COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOLS ARE INNOVATIVE OPEN ENROLLMENT, HIGH SCHOOLS THAT ALLOW STUDENTS THE LEAST LIKELY TO ATTEND COLLEGE, AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE BOTH A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND A CREDENTIAL AND OR AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE.

THE HALLMARK OF THE P-TECH MODEL IS ITS CAREER FOCUS AND THE PROVISION OF WORK BASED EDUCATION. THE P-TECH BLUEPRINT IS WHAT GUIDES US, AND WE HAVE TWO DIFFERENT COMMITTEES WORKING ON THIS P-TECH PROGRAM.

HERE IN CROWLEY ISD, WE HAVE A LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE AND AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND WHAT GUIDES THAT COMMITTEE IS THE P-TECH BLUEPRINT.

IT PROVIDES FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES AND STANDARDS FOR INNOVATIVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES AND INDUSTRY.

THE P-TECH BLUEPRINT CONTAINS SIX BENCHMARKS OUTLINING THE DESIGN ELEMENTS THAT EACH P-TECH CAMPUS MUST IMPLEMENT BEFORE SERVING STUDENTS.

ADDITIONALLY, OUTCOME BASED MEASURES IN ACCESS, ATTAINMENT AND ACHIEVEMENT PROVIDE GUIDANCE FOR P-TECH PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS.

SO THAT'S A GENERAL OVERVIEW OF WHAT P-TECH IS, ACCORDING TO THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY.

NOW I WANT TO DIG A LITTLE BIT DEEPER AND PROVIDE YOU A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF HOW WE'RE IMPLEMENTING THE P-TECH MODEL IN CROWLEY ISD.

SO THE FIRST THING I WANT TO POINT OUT TO YOU IS ONE, WE ARE STILL IN A PLANNING YEAR, SO WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE ANY STUDENTS.

WE WILL START SERVING OUR STUDENTS IN THE FALL OF 2021.

AND SO WITH THIS PLANNING YEAR, THERE'S STILL A LOT OF PLANNING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE.

BUT WE ALSO FEEL LIKE WE ARE AT A PLACE WHERE THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF PLANNING AND A LOT OF WORK DONE TO WHERE WE CAN WE FEEL CONFIDENT TO SUBMIT OUR APPLICATION.

OUR APPLICATION IS DUE TO TEA ON THE TWENTY NINTH OF JANUARY.

I'VE ALREADY PRESENTED THAT APPLICATION TO MULTIPLE DIFFERENT ENTITIES AND MULTIPLE DIFFERENT COMMITTEES AND HAVE GAINED FEEDBACK AND WOULD CONTINUE TO LIKE TO CONTINUE TO WELCOME FEEDBACK AS WE PRESENT THIS MATERIAL.

THE FIRST THING AS WE'RE DECIDING ON A NAME, ONE OF THE THINGS I WANT TO POINT OUT TO YOU, WE'RE STILL WE'RE STILL WE'RE STILL LOOKING TO SOLIDIFY THAT AND WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE FEEDBACK. BUT RIGHT NOW, WE'RE AT THE AVIATION AND TRANSPORTATION ACADEMY AT CROWLEY ISD. AND HERE'S THE REASON WHY TRANSPORTATION DOES ENCOMPASS MANY ASPECTS OF OUR PROGRAM.

AND WE ALSO KNOW THAT THESE PROGRAMS OF STUDY PROVIDE AN ENTRY POINT INTO LARGER CAREER FIELDS. AND SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE TEA CAREER CLUSTERS, TRANSPORTATION IS ENCOMPASSES THE DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS, AND IT ENCOMPASSES AVIATION MAINTENANCE AND AVIATION FLIGHT AS WELL AS OTHERS.

AND SO THAT IS WHY WE LANDED ON THAT.

AND THEN WHENEVER WE CONSULTED WITH OUR PARTNERS OUT AT THE FAA, THEY THEY PROVIDED GUIDANCE IN THE FACT THAT AVIATION, THE WORD AVIATION IS A IS A DESIGN DEVELOPMENT, PRODUCTION OPERATION AND USE OF AIRCRAFT.

AND SO ULTIMATELY, WE WANT TO SPRINGBOARD OUR STUDENTS INTO LARGER CAREERS AND WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO THAT THROUGH OUR P-TECH PROGRAM.

HERE AT CROWLEY ISD, WE'RE GOING TO OFFER THREE PROGRAMS OF STUDY THAT PROVIDE DUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES AND THOSE PROGRAMS OF STUDY ARE AVIATION MAINTENANCE, DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS AND UAV/UAS OR UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES OR UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS. ANOTHER WAY TO THINK OF THAT UAV/UAS IS DRONES AND THEN ALSO UTILIZE IF YOU'VE BEEN TO THE GROCERY STORE AND YOU SELF CHECKOUT RECENTLY, THAT IS AN UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS SYSTEM.

SO IF YOU LOOK AT THIS, WE ARE PROVIDING A FOUNDATION FOR A BROADER SCALE FOR FOR OUR OUR STUDENTS TO BE INNOVATIVE.

THE COURSES IN THE P-TECH ACADEMY ARE GOING TO BE LOCATED AT THE BRAND NEW BEAUTIFUL BRJ FACILITY AND THE CORE COURSES ARE AT THE HOME CAMPUS.

THIS IS ONE OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES THAT THAT THAT MAKES P-TECH A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN

[00:40:06]

THE CCA. AND WE JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT TO YOU.

WITHIN P-TECH ACADEMY, STUDENTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO EARN AT LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING, A LEVEL ONE OR LEVEL TWO CERTIFICATION OR AN ASSOCIATE'S OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE. TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BACKGROUND OF WHAT A LEVEL ONE AND LEVEL TWO CERTIFICATION IS, IT IS ESSENTIALLY AN OPPORTUNITY FOR COLLEGES TO RECOGNIZE PROGRESS OF STUDENTS.

THEY MAY NOT GET ALL THE WAY TO AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE, BUT THEY ARE MAKING PROGRESS.

SO SO THE MORE HOURS YOU GET, THE THAT SIGNIFIES THE DIFFERENT DEGREE OR THE CERTIFICATE AWARDED BY THE INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

EVERY STUDENT WITHIN THE P-TECH ACADEMY WILL EARN AN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION.

IT COULD BE OUR FAA PART 107, WHICH IS A DRONE'S LICENSE, OR IT COULD BE A POWER PLANT CERTIFICATION OR IT COULD BE A WAREHOUSE MANAGER CERTIFICATION, DEPENDING ON WHERE WHERE THE STUDENT CHOOSES TO GO.

RIGHT NOW, WE DO HAVE APPLICATION OPEN FOR CURRENT EIGHTH GRADERS.

I HAVE PRESENTED NOT ONLY TO THE THE [INAUDIBLE] SORRY, NOT ONLY TO THE COUNSELORS, BUT I HAVE PRESENTED TO EVERY MIDDLE SCHOOL, BOTH VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON, OF COURSE, DISTANCED. AS FAR AS THE THREE PROGRAMS OF STUDY, WHAT I WANT TO DO IS I JUST WANT TO PROVIDE A GENERAL OVERVIEW BROKEN DOWN INTO THREE PARTS.

WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS.

WE HAVE A COLLEGE PARTNER AND THE INDUSTRY PARTNER.

SO WITH AVIATION MAINTENANCE, WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY OF A LEVEL TWO CERTIFICATION IN POWERPLANT. AND TYPICALLY YOU WOULD SEE A CERTIFICATION IN BOTH AIRFRAME AND POWERPLANT.

YOU COMMONLY HEAR IT AS A A&P AN A&P CERTIFICATION.

HOWEVER, IN UNDERSTANDING AND WORKING WITH OUR PARTNER AT TCC, WE KNOW THAT IT IT IS IT IS EXTREMELY TOUGH TO GET BOTH OF THOSE AS A HIGH SCHOOLER.

AND SO WORKING WITH TCC, WE FOUND THAT WE CAN PROVIDE THAT LEVEL TO CERTIFICATION IN POWER PLANTS AND THEN CONTINUE ON TO WORK WITH TCC TO PROVIDE THAT AIRFRAME CERTIFICATION THROUGH THEIR PROGRAMING AS WELL.

AND THERE IS A GENERAL AVIATION MAINTENANCE PORTION OF IT TO WHERE IT'S NOT AS EXHAUSTIVE, IT'S BECAUSE WE WANT TO PROVIDE ANY WE WANT TO ALLOW OPPORTUNITY FOR AS MANY STUDENTS AS POSSIBLE.

IF YOU LOOK, OUR COLLEGE PARTNER WITH THIS ONE IS TARRANT COUNTY COLLEGE AND OUR INDUSTRY PARTNER IS CAM AIRCRAFT, THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION AND C&S PROPELLER.

AND WE'VE BEEN WORKING DILIGENTLY WITH ALL OF OUR PREMIER PARTNERS.

JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE 11 PARTNERS AND THEN WE HAVE THREE PREMIER PARTNERS, THOSE PREMIER PARTNERS HAVE BEEN THROUGH SEVERAL MEETINGS WITH ME TO DESIGN WORK BASED EDUCATION EXPERIENCES.

AND SO CAM AIRCRAFT IS LOCATED AT SPINKS AIRPORT JUST RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD HERE IN BURLESON. AND THEY ARE OFFERING THEIR OFFERING THE OPPORTUNITY TO ESSENTIALLY CREATE A PIPELINE FOR OUR STUDENTS.

THEY PROVIDE EXPERIENCE NOT ONLY ON OUR CAMPUSES, BUT AT THEIR FACILITY AS WELL.

THEY CAN PROVIDE THOSE TYPE OF EXPERIENCES AND THEN OFFER AN OPPORTUNITY TO INTERVIEW AFTER HIGH SCHOOL AND GAIN EMPLOYMENT THROUGH THERE.

AND SO WE'RE TRYING TO CREATE A PIPELINE WITHIN THESE PROGRAMS OF STUDY.

SO THE NEXT PROGRAM OF STUDY I WANT TO POINT OUT TO YOU IS THE DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS PROGRAM ARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS IN THIS PROGRAM IS AN ASSOCIATE'S IN APPLIED SCIENCE AND LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT.

THIS MEANS THAT A STUDENT WILL OBTAIN 60 DUAL CREDIT HOURS, THE MAJORITY OF IT BEING FROM THE ELECTIVE COURSES.

HOWEVER, THEY WILL TAKE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF CORE COURSES WITH IT, OR THEY HAVE THE OPTION TO TO PURSUE A LEVEL ONE CERTIFICATION, WHICH DOES EVERY EVERY DUAL CREDIT COURSE FOCUSES MORE ON THE DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS.

OUR COLLEGE PARTNER IS TARRANT COUNTY COLLEGE, AND WE HAVE A UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP WITH UPS, VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS PARTNERSHIP BECAUSE OUR REPRESENTATIVE AT UPS WAS A FORMER EDUCATOR AND SHE UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE TO GENERATE WORK BASED EXPERIENCE AND IS VERY, VERY STRONG IN SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE AND MAKING SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WORK AND PROVIDING RELEVANT EXPERIENCE SO THAT THEY CAN GAIN EMPLOYMENT STRAIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL INTO UPS.

ONCE AGAIN, WE'RE TRYING TO CREATE A PIPELINE WITH THAT.

AND OUR FINAL PROGRAM OF STUDY IS THE UAV/UAS, THE UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES OR THE UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS. THIS IS A UNIQUE PROGRAM OF STUDY BECAUSE WE ARE WE ARE PRETTY MUCH ON THE GROUND LEVEL WHEN IT COMES TO WHAT WE'RE DOING.

THIS IS NOT A STATE PROGRAM OF STUDY.

THIS IS ACTUALLY A REGIONAL PROGRAM OF STUDY.

AND THE WORK THAT MS. DUVALL HAS DONE AND THE CTE TEAM HAS DONE IN REGARDS TO THE THE

[00:45:02]

PERKIN'S RESERVE GRANT AND BEING PARTNERS WITH 10 OTHER DISTRICTS FOR UAV/UAS IS PHENOMENAL. AND THIS IS KIND OF SPRING BOARDED THIS.

THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS.

WE HAD TO SEARCH ALL AROUND THE STATE OF TEXAS.

WE ATTEMPTED TO TO GO BACK AND FORTH AND REALLY TRIED TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE CAN MAKE IT WORK WITH TCC.

HOWEVER, THIS IS SUCH A NEW PROGRAM.

THE COLLEGE THAT OFFERED WHAT WE NEEDED WAS DEL MAR COLLEGE.

AND SO WE WORKED WITH OUR PARTNERS AT TCC AND THEN ALSO WORKED WITH OUR PARTNERS AT DEL MAR. AND THEY PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS TO OBTAIN A LEVEL ONE OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS AWARD IN GIS.

AND I'LL EXPLAIN WHY WE'RE DOING GIS AS WELL.

AND THEN A LEVEL ONE OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS AWARD IN THE UAS.

THIS IS SO GROUNDBREAKING.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE UNDERSTAND IS, PARTICULARLY WITH THE UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES, IS THAT THEY ARE USED AS PLATFORMS AND TOOLS.

AND SO IT'S VERY HARD TO CREATE A CAREER JUST BY UTILIZING DRONES.

AND SO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS YOU HAVE TO PARTNER IT WITH WITH OTHER CAREER FIELDS.

AND WHAT WE HAVE FOUND IS OUR PARTNER WITH HALF ASSOCIATES AND OUR PARTNERS WITH DEL MAR COLLEGE HAVE REALLY CREATED A NICHE IN THE GIS FIELD TO WHERE THEY WOULD THROW A DRONE UP.

YOU CAN TAKE LAND SURVEYING PICTURES.

YOU CAN TAKE DATA FROM THERE.

AND THEY'RE GOING TO TEACH OUR STUDENTS HOW TO INTERPRET THAT DATA AND REALLY ULTIMATELY USE IT NOT JUST FOR LAND SURVEYING, BUT FOR ANYTHING ELSE IN REGARDS TO TO BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION.

SO WE DO HAVE WE DO HAVE THOSE WE HAVE A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY THAT UTILIZES DRONES.

WE HAVE A PHOTOGRAPHY COMPANY.

AND SO WE GAIN ADVISEMENT FROM THEM AS WELL.

AND FINALLY, I WANTED TO SHOW YOU JUST A PICTURE, WE DO HAVE A WEBSITE UP, AND THAT IS WHERE YOU CAN FIND OUR APPLICATION.

OUR WEBSITE ALSO HOUSES OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS.

THAT IS A CLICKABLE LINK.

AND SO IF YOU GO TO THE WEBSITE, YOU CLICK ON THE UPS OR TARRANT COUNTY, THAT TAKES YOU STRAIGHT TO UPS'S WEBSITE OR TARRANT COUNTY'S WEBSITE.

ONCE AGAIN, WE HAVE 11 PARTNERS.

AND THEN ALSO IF YOU IF YOU IF YOU COULD WHENEVER IF YOU HAD THAT OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON THE WEBSITE, YOU SCROLL DOWN.

THAT'S WHERE WE HOUSE ALL OF OUR TEA DOCUMENTATION.

SO AND WITH THAT, I AM OPEN FOR ANY QUESTIONS.

I HAVE A QUESTION. YES? SO FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU.

I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROGRAM AND I GUESS IT'S NOT REALLY WELL, I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION, BUT FIRST, A COMMENT.

I KNOW JUST AS OF JUST A FEW YEARS AGO.

I DON'T THINK THERE WAS ANY DISTRICT OFFERING ANYTHING IN DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS ANYWHERE NEAR US, AND THAT MAY BE DIFFERENT NOW, BUT I KNOW THAT HAS BEEN AN INDUSTRY THAT'S BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME.

BUT THE CHANGE IN THAT INDUSTRY IS.

HUGE, AND I WOULD THINK IN PANDEMIC TIMES, IT'S GROWING EVEN MORE TOO.

SO I'M JUST SO EXCITED TO HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS BECAUSE IT'S SUCH A GOOD INDUSTRY TO GET INTO.

AND YET THE PROGRAMS ARE SO RARE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, REALLY.

SO I THINK THAT'S REALLY EXCITING.

AND SO MY QUESTION IS ABOUT THE INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS.

I JUST CAN'T REMEMBER.

AND SO I'M WONDERING IF THE OUR PLAN IS TO ASSIST STUDENTS WITH THE PAYMENT OF THOSE INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION FEES OR IF THAT'S SOMETHING THAT'S ON THEM.

THAT IS THAT THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE ARE ASSISTING THEM WITH.

AWESOME. YES, GREAT.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

EXCITED TO SEE ALL OF THIS.

THANK YOU FOR THE REPORT. ABSOLUTELY.

AND TO THAT POINT, NOT ONLY ARE WE ASSISTING WITH THEM, WE DO HAVE THE DUAL CREDIT COURSES AS WELL.

WE HAVE THE TUITION VALUE EXCHANGE.

AND SO WITH THAT, STUDENTS WILL OBTAIN FREE DUAL COURSES.

THANK YOU FOR THAT QUESTION MS. BENTON. THAT ACTUALLY WAS MY QUESTION, ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? I WOULD LIKE TO SAY SOMETHING.

MS. HALL. [INAUDIBLE] HAS BEEN VERY, VERY EXCITED FOR THE OPPORTUNITY THIS IS PRESENTING FOR OUR STUDENTS. AND I KNOW IT'S EARLY AND YOU HAVEN'T HAD TIME FOR MUCH FEEDBACK.

BUT WHEN YOU DID THE IN-PERSON PRESENTATIONS, DID YOU SEE ANY EXCITEMENT AMONG THE STUDENTS ABOUT THIS? ABSOLUTELY. MATTER OF FACT.

THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION, MS. DAVIS. I JUST HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT IN PERSON AT RICHARD ALLIE MIDDLE TODAY ALL DAY, AND THERE WAS EXCITEMENT.

I ACTUALLY GOT TO IT WORKED OUT TO WHERE I GOT TO PRESENT TO ALMOST EVERY EIGHTH GRADER TWICE. AND AND WITH THAT, WE WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TO GO BACK AND FORTH.

THERE WAS A LOT OF EXCITEMENT.

THERE WAS A LOT OF INTEREST IN IT.

I EXPLAINED THE DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS IN A WAY THAT I FELT THEY COULD UNDERSTAND.

AND REALLY, I BROKE IT DOWN FROM FROM THE FROM THE TIME YOU PRESS BUY NOW ON AMAZON TO

[00:50:06]

THE TIME THAT IT SHOWS UP AT YOUR DOORSTEP, THAT FORTY EIGHT HOURS THAT THEY PROMISE YOU, THAT'S DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS FROM THE WAREHOUSE, PACKING IT AND ALL OF THAT KIND OF STUFF, AND THEN ACTUALLY HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO FLY A DRONE AROUND THEM.

SO SO IT WAS IT WAS A LOT OF FUN.

OK, THANK YOU.

WELL I'M EXCITED. WELL THANK YOU.

SO THANK YOU, MS. DAVIS, ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? JUST ONE FOR ME, I ECHO THE SENTIMENTS OF THE PREVIOUS BOARD MEMBERS WITH THE EXCITEMENT QUESTION, I WANT TO KNOW IF YOU WHAT'S YOUR SENSE OF INTEREST FROM GIRLS, THE FEMALE STUDENTS IN THE PROGRAM, JUST SO THAT WE KNOW THAT THAT'S BEEN AN AREA OF INTEREST IN SOME OF THE OTHER PROGRAMS ARE A CONCERN.

SO WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THAT? YOU KNOW, IN REGARDS TO THEIR INTEREST LEVEL SO FAR.

YES, MA'AM, THAT'S A THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

AND SO AS FAR AS WHAT I CAN TELL, I CAN ONLY ANSWER THAT BASED ON THE OBSERVATIONS THAT I'VE HAD FROM MY PRESENTATIONS.

ONCE I START TO GET MORE APPLICATIONS ROLLING IN, THEN I'LL BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU A BETTER ANSWER. BUT THEY WERE MALES AND FEMALES WERE JUST AS ENGAGED IN THE CONVERSATION.

AND IT WAS IT WAS A CONVERSATION.

THERE WAS A LOT OF CONVERSATION AROUND WHAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT.

AND SO, UNFORTUNATELY, THAT'S THAT'S ABOUT AS MUCH INFORMATION THAT I CAN GIVE YOU.

BUT I CAN GIVE YOU MORE OF THAT WHENEVER WE START TO GET OUR APPLICATIONS AND WHENEVER WE START TO GET FEEDBACK FROM COUNSELORS, WHENEVER THEY START TO PICK THEIR ENDORSEMENTS.

WONDERFUL. THANK YOU.

THAT WAS A GREAT QUESTION.

DR. WOODSON-MAYFIELD, I'LL BE INTERESTED TO KNOW HOW THAT SHAKES DOWN AS WELL.

WELL I DEFINITELY ENCOURAGE OUR GIRLS TO BE PARTICIPANTS AND THE MANY ENDORSEMENTS AND PROGRAMS AS THEY AS THEY GROW.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE FROM THE COMMENTS? PRESIDENT HALL? [INAUDIBLE] I HAD A QUICK QUESTION.

DR. PORTER, HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE YOU ABLE TO TAKE? AND THAT'S A GREAT THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

SO WE HAVE TO LOOK AT WHAT WE CAN OFFER AS FAR AS SPACE AND AS FAR AS SECTIONS.

AND SO RIGHT NOW, WHAT WE KNOW AND AS FAR AS FAA ALLOWANCES AND SO WITH THAT, WE HAVE CAPPED IT RIGHT NOW AT ABOUT ONE HUNDRED STUDENTS WITHIN THE ENTIRE PROGRAM.

AND THAT IS ALL THREE PROGRAMS. SO IF YOU'RE INTERESTED, YOU NEED TO GET YOUR APPLICATION RIGHT NOW.

SO THAT'S WHAT I TOLD THE STUDENTS TODAY.

I SAID I'VE GOT FOUR DIFFERENT MIDDLE SCHOOLS THAT I'M PRESENTING TO AND I'VE GOT ONE HUNDRED SPOTS. AND SO WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE AS MANY SIGN UP AS POSSIBLE.

DR. PORTER, IF YOU MENTION THIS IN YOUR PRESENTATION, AND I MISSED IT, I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE WITH THESE NEW PROGRAMS, WILL WE BE HIRING PROFESSIONALS FROM THE INDUSTRY OR WILL WE BE LOOKING FOR CERTIFIED EDUCATORS? WHAT WHAT TYPE OF PERSONNEL WILL BE LEADING THESE PROGRAMS? YES, MA'AM. THAT'S A THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

AND SO RIGHT NOW, CURRENTLY WE HAVE AN AVIATION INSTRUCTOR POSITION LISTED AND THE QUALIFICATIONS REALLY, REALLY ALLOW THEM TO COME FROM THE ACTUAL INDUSTRY.

AND SO YOU SEE THAT OFTEN IN CTE PROGRAMING.

BUT WE'VE STARTED THE PROCESS AND WE'RE STARTING TO SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO NOT ONLY HAVE HAVE HAD HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY, BUT HAVE HAD HANDS ON EXPERIENCE AND SOME SORT OF INSTRUCTIONAL ROLE, WHETHER IT BE AT THE HIGHER HIGHER ED LEVEL OR WITHIN THEIR COMPANY AND CORPORATION.

THANK YOU. YES, MA'AM.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? ALL RIGHT, DR. PORTER WELL WE ALL ECHO, I BELIEVE, IN EXCITEMENT ABOUT THE PROGRAM, AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION.

WE'LL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO AND HEARING THE INTEREST FROM THE STUDENTS AND THE APPLICATIONS AND THE DEPARTMENT AS YOU MOVE FORWARD SO.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRESENTATION.

THANK YOU, MADAM PRESIDENT.

SO, YES, I HAVE A I HAVE THE ANSWER TO THE.

THERE WAS A QUESTION EARLIER ABOUT THE DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN AND THE ATTENDANCE PART THAT WAS PULLED UP SO MS. ISABELL WOULD LIKE TO KIND OF SHARE WHAT OCCURRED IN THAT TIME.

OK. FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO THANK [INAUDIBLE] MS. BOARD MEMBER BENTON FOR POINTING THAT OUT BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO MOVE FORWARD WITH ERRORS IN OUR DOCUMENT.

AFTER MY QUICK INVESTIGATION OF OUR DOCUMENT, WE FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A STRATEGY.

ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE WAS STRATEGY OF SEVERAL OF OUR GOALS.

AND SO IT WAS ACTUALLY PULLED FORWARD WITH SOME OF THOSE GOALS.

SO WE WILL CORRECT THAT PRIOR TO GIVING IT FOR THE FINAL APPROVAL ON NEXT MEETING.

[00:55:01]

THANK YOU FOR POINTING IT OUT.

I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT. THANK YOU.

NO MS. ISABELL. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GETTING THAT FEEDBACK TO US SO QUICKLY.

WE APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU, AND WE'LL MOVE TO AGENDA ITEM FIVE POINT THREE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS STAFF EVENT WITH TARRANT COUNTY MHMR. DR. MCFARLAND. MADAM PRESIDENT AND BOARD MEMBERS, THIS NEXT ITEM, OF COURSE, AS YOU MENTIONED, DEALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH.

AND SO WE WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL SOME OF THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING AND SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE'RE PROVIDING FOR OUR STAFFS TO ADDRESS SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH DURING THIS PANDEMIC.

OUR DIRECTOR OF COUNSELING IS TRINA HARRIS, WILL BE SHARING THIS ITEM, MS. HARRIS. THANK YOU, DR.

MCFARLAND. GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT HALL.

DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND.

THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR HAS PROVEN TO BE PHYSICALLY TAXING, BUT EVEN MORE SO MENTALLY EXHAUSTING. SO IN ORDER TO OFFER SUPPORT TO OUR CROWLEY ISD EDUCATORS, THE CISD COUNSELING DEPARTMENT HAS PARTNERED WITH MY HEALTH, MY RESOURCES, ALSO KNOWN AS INMATE MHMR IN REGIONAL 11 TO PRESENT CISD'S MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS SYMPOSIUM.

THE NEW NORMAL IS NOT NORMAL AT ALL.

THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE VIRTUALLY JANUARY THE 22ND 2021 FROM ONE TO FOUR P.M.

JANUARY 22ND IS AN EARLY DISMISSAL DAY FOR OUR STUDENTS.

AND IT IS IS IT IS A DISTRICT PD IN THE AFTERNOON FOR ALL OUR CISD EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING CENTRAL OFFICE STAFF.

THE SYMPOSIUM WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF THE DISTRICT'S PD BECAUSE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS IN CROWLEY ISD ESPECIALLY DURING A PANDEMIC.

THE EVENT WILL KICK OFF WITH THE WELCOME FROM OUR VERY OWN DR.

MICHAEL MCFARLAND. HE WILL BE FOLLOWED BY THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, AFTER WHICH PARTICIPANTS WILL JOIN SEPARATE ZOOMS WHERE COURSE OFFERINGS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO MINDFULNESS, SELF CARE AND COMPASSION.

CAREGIVER BURDEN, THE FORGET, FORGOTTEN PATIENT AND RESILIENT RESILIENCE HACKS, TO NAME A FEW. CURRENTLY, THE EVENT IS EXCLUSIVE TO CROWLEY ISD EMPLOYEES AND THE REMAINDER OF THE SPOTS WILL OPEN TO THE NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS ON TOMORROW, JANUARY THE 15TH.

ADDITIONALLY, WE WILL BE REMISS TO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE OVERWHELMING MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS OF OUR CISD AND CISD FAMILIES AND STUDENTS, SO ALONG WITH THE SCHOOL COUNSELORS AND SEL SPECIALISTS, I'M WORKING WITH OUR SSI COMMUNITY INITIATIVE COORDINATOR AND BILINGUAL DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE NO COST MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES TO AND SEL, TO OUR CISD FAMILIES AND STUDENTS. WE WILL BRING YOU MORE DETAIL ABOUT THESE SERVICES DURING OUR NEXT BOARD MEETING. AT THIS TIME, I'M OPEN FOR ANY QUESTIONS, CONCERNS OR CLARIFICATIONS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

AND IF YOUR SCHEDULES PERMIT, PLEASE KNOW THAT WE WILL BE HONORED TO HAVE YOU JOIN THE MENTAL HEALTH SYMPOSIUM BECAUSE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS IN CISD THANK YOU.

WELL MS. HARRIS. FIRST, I WANT TO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CREATING THIS SPACE FOR OUR CISD STAFF AND ALSO NOT FORGETTING ABOUT OUR STUDENTS AND OUR FAMILIES WHO ALSO NEED THIS SUPPORT AS WELL. SO I COMMEND YOU ON YOUR EFFORTS AND YOUR TEAM OF FOR THIS INITIATIVE.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? I HAVE A COMMENT MS. HALL LIKE YOU, I THINK THIS IS GREAT AND THANK YOU, MS. HARRIS. I DO HAVE A QUESTION.

IS THIS IS IT TAKING THE PLACE OF PD SO THAT ALL STAFF WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND OR IS IT VOLUNTARY? NO, MA'AM.

IT IS TAKING THE PLACE OF OUR DISTRICT PD BECAUSE WE RECOGNIZE THAT GOING INTO THE SECOND SEMESTER, IT'S IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE MAKE SURE THAT WE DO A MENTAL HEALTH CHECK FOR ALL OF OUR STAFF. SO THIS IS GOING TO BE OPEN TO PARAS AS WELL AS INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF AS AND CENTRAL LEVEL OFFICE PERSONNEL.

OK, THANK YOU.

THANK YOU. AND TODAY WE HAVE CLOSE TO 800 PARTICIPANTS THAT HAVE REGISTERED.

SO WE HAVE A SPOT OF 1500 THAT WE ARE ALLOWING TO PARTICIPATE TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE HAS A SPACE IF THEY SO CHOOSE TO.

OK, SOUNDS GREAT.

THANK YOU, MA'AM.

DID I HEAR YOU SAY THAT THERE WOULD BE OPEN TO NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS AS WELL? YES, MA'AM. AFTER TOMORROW, WE LEFT IT OPEN SEVERAL WEEKS FOR OUR EMPLOYEES AND COMMUNICATED WITH PRINCIPALS AND OUR CENTRAL OFFICE STAFF.

AND AFTER TOMORROW AFTERNOON, THE WE WILL LAUNCH TO FORT WORTH ISD, AS WELL AS BURLESON AND A COUPLE OTHER NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS THAT COULD UTILIZE THE SUPPORT.

SO RIGHT NOW, IT'S NOT PUBLICIZED TO ANYONE BUT OUR STAFF.

SO THEY GET THE PRIORITY TO REGISTER.

BUT BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE, BECAUSE MANY OF THESE PROFESSIONALS ARE FROM, YOU KNOW, NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH PLATFORMS.

[01:00:03]

SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE AN AUDIENCE THAT CAN REALLY UTILIZE THE SERVICES.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT.

THANK YOU PRESIDENT HALL.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM OUR BOARD? ALL RIGHT, WELL, MS. HARRIS, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR FOR YOUR REPORT AND GO FORTH AND DO GREAT THINGS. WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE TWENTY SECOND.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, MA'AM.

THIS NOW BRINGS US TO OUR EXECUTIVE SESSION AT THIS TIME, THE BOARD WILL ADJOURN TO

[6.0 Executive Session]

EXECUTIVE SESSION PURSUANT TO TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE FIVE FIVE ONE POINT ZERO SEVEN FOUR EMPLOYMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL.

OTHER PARTICIPANTS MAY REMAIN ON THIS LINE AND THE BOARD WILL RETURN IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE SESSION.

WE ARE GOING TO ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION AT 7:01 P.M..
