AT THIS TIME WOULD YOU PLEASE STAND FOR OUR PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

GOD, ONE AND INDIVISIBLE. THANK YOU.

WE'LL MOVE RIGHT NOW INTO OUR BOARD CELEBRATIONS.

[3.0 Celebrations / Board Points of Pride]

AGENDA ITEM THREE POINT ZERO.

ARE THERE ANY BOARD MEMBERS THAT HAVE ANYTHING THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO CELEBRATE OR ACKNOWLEDGE THIS MEETING? I WOULD. I'LL START.

FIRST OF ALL, AS A FIRST, YOU KNOW, I'M A THIS IS HARD.

MY MOM WAS A PARAPROFESSIONAL FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS IN A NEIGHBORING SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND SHE'S ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO COLLEGE.

AND SO WHEN I LEARNED ABOUT MARY HARRIS AND TWO PAIR OF PROFESSIONALS THAT HAVE JUST COMPLETED THE PROGRAM, THEY'RE DOING THEIR STUDENT TEACHING NOW.

I THINK THAT'S COMMENDABLE THAT THEY ARE NOW GOING TO BE TEACHERS, FULL TIME TEACHERS WITHIN OUR DISTRICT. SO I JUST WANT TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR TIME, THEIR DEDICATION, AND THEN JUST CONGRATULATE THEM FOR ACHIEVING THAT MILESTONE.

SO I KNOW THAT OTHERS ARE GOING THROUGH THE PROGRAM AND WE WILL CELEBRATE THEM AS WELL, BUT TOTALLY WANT TO SAY WE APPRECIATE THEM.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] THANK YOU, DR.

MCFARLAND, OR ANY OTHER TRUSTEES THAT WOULD LIKE TO SHARE CELEBRATIONS, TRUSTEE DAVIS.

THANK YOU, DR. HALL.

WE HAVE BEEN TALKING A LOT ABOUT STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT LATELY, SO I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND I HAVE SOME POINTS OF PRIDE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE.

ONE IS THE DISTRICT RATING, PER THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY.

THE DISTRICT IS A B DISTRICT.

WE HAVE 100 PERCENT OF OUR SCHOOLS MEETING AND EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS.

OUR NUMERICAL GRADE ASSIGNED BY THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY IS AN 83.

OUR ENROLLMENT IS UP TO 16,380, AND WE HAVE NO LOW PERFORMING CAMPUSES.

THOSE ARE POINTS OF PRIDE THAT DESERVE CELEBRATING.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] THANK YOU, TRUSTEE DAVIS, AND IF I CAN EMPHASIZE OUR ENROLLMENT IS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH, AND THAT IS DEFINITELY A POINT OF PRIDE.

IS THERE ANYONE ELSE THAT HAS ANYTHING THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THIS EVENING? TRUSTEE ROBINSON. OK, THE FIRST ONE IS PARENTS YOU MAY HAVE RECEIVED THIS EMAIL EARLIER THIS WEEK. YOU KNOW, A LOT OF TIMES WE MAY STRUGGLE TO HELP OUR CHILDREN WITH THEIR HOMEWORK. AND SO THERE'S A HOMEWORK HELP HOTLINE THAT IS BEGINNING.

IT'S A PILOT PROGRAM AND IS RUNNING THROUGH JANUARY 2022, BUT IT'S BOTH IN ENGLISH AND

[00:05:04]

SPANISH FOR STUDENTS IN K THROUGH FIVE.

AND STUDENTS WHO ARE TAKING ALGEBRA ONE, SO YOU NO LONGER HAVE TO HAVE THOSE TEARS AT THE TABLE. NOW YOU CAN PUSH A BUTTON AND ZOOM IN TO A TEACHER.

AWESOME. GOSH, I MISSED OUT ON THAT.

THAT'S AWESOME. IS THERE ANYONE THAT HAS ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANYTHING TO CELEBRATE? I HAD A SECOND ONE. OH, GO AHEAD.

I'M SORRY. MY NEXT ONE IS THIS SATURDAY, MY WELL PAST SATURDAY, MY DAUGHTER AND I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE HONORS CHOIR.

IT WAS MADE UP OF FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS, MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.

THEY DID A CELEBRATION FOR VETERANS DAY.

IT WAS VERY WELL ATTENDED.

AND YOU HAD FORMER UNACQUIRED STUDENTS WHO CAME BACK TO THE ALUMNI, AS WELL AS TEACHERS, MUSIC TEACHERS, FACULTY WHO ALSO STOOD ON STAGE WITH THEM.

SO IT WAS A GREAT REPRESENTATION OF CROWLEY PRIDE UNIFIED BECAUSE IT WAS MULTIPLE DISTRICTS ACROSS THE CAMPUS AND THEN JUST HONORING OUR VETERANS WHO PROUDLY SERVED THIS COUNTRY. THANK YOU, TRUSTEE ROBINSON, TRUSTEE RAY.

YEAH, WELL, ACTUALLY TWO THINGS I DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT THIS TIME, BUT YOU KNOW, I'VE BEEN A FEW TIMES WITH JUNE JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO AT JACKIE CARDEN.

WE HAD THE MONTHLY, I THINK, MONTHLY ANTHONY, THE CANNED FOOD DRIVE OR THE FOOD BANK, WHICH IS SOMETHING WE DO EVERY MONTH, ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW COMING UP TO THANKSGIVING, I THINK. I MEAN, THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE, CARS WERE GOING FOR MILES, IT SEEMED LIKE.

SO IT'S A GREAT THING WITH ALL THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS AND THE STATE.

WELL, NOT STUDENTS RIGHT NOW, BUT THE STAFF AND EVERYONE THAT COMES OUT TO SUPPORT THAT.

AND ALSO, I WANTED TO POINT OUT PARKWAY THAT IF ANY OF YOU EVER SEEN, WE'VE GOT THESE LITERACY BUS AND THE STEM BUS, WHICH ARE REALLY AWESOME KIND OF OLD BUSSES THAT GOT REPURPOSED AND TURNED INTO THESE KIND OF A MOBILE LIBRARY KIND OF THING.

AND MOBILE SCIENCE LAB TOOK THOSE TO PARKWAY AND HAD OVER THREE HUNDRED PARENTS COME OUT AND PARTICIPATE AND TOOK ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY BOXES OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND ART SUPPLIES. AND AT THE SAME TIME, DISTRIBUTED OVER THREE HUNDRED BOOKS TO STUDENTS.

AND IT WAS JUST A GREAT, GREAT EVENT.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU, TRUSTEE, WRIGHT? ARE THERE ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR CELEBRATIONS FROM YOUR MEMBERS? I HAVE ONE. ALL RIGHT.

MR. GRASSIA. HOW ARE Y'ALL DOING? GOOD. SO ON NOVEMBER 16TH, THE BOARD DOCTOR, DR.

MCFARLAND AND EVERYONE FROM VLK TO STILL FREEMAN WENT AND WE SIGNED A BEAM FOR THE NEW SPORTS COMPLEX.

AND YEAH, AND STUDENTS, THE STUDENTS ARE SO PUMPED ABOUT THIS NEW SPORTS COMPLEX, AND IT IS JUST AMAZING ALREADY THE PROGRESS THAT THEY'VE MADE.

IT'S IT'S AMAZING.

IT REALLY IS. WE HAD A LOT OF FUN AND THEN WE TURNED AROUND AND WE BROKE GROUND FOR THE THE ADMIN BUILDING, WHICH WITH, YEAH, RIGHT THERE, THE GOOD LOOKING GUY RIGHT THERE, MR. RAY. I'M TALKING ABOUT MR. RAY, BUT IT WAS JUST AMAZING.

SO WE SHOULD DO IT AGAIN SOMETIME.

THANK Y'ALL. THANK YOU.

MR. GRASSIA. I THINK THE CELEBRATIONS I WANT TO EMPHASIZE ARE ALL OF THE GREAT THINGS, I ALWAYS SAY THIS, IT'S NOT MY TAGLINE, BUT I DO ALWAYS SAY THAT I TRULY MEAN IT.

THERE ARE GREAT THINGS HAPPENING IN CROWLEY ISD.

WE HAD A RIBBON CUTTING, I GUESS YOU WOULD CALL IT, IN OUR INDOOR TRAINING FACILITY, AND WE FOLLOWED THAT UP WITH A DEDICATION TO OUR CTE CENTER, THE BRJ.

WE DID THE BEAM SIGNING AS VP GRASSIA SAID, AND WE ALSO BROKE GROUND ON OUR ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AND THEN OUR LAST BOARD MEETING.

AND WE VOTED TO APPROVE A PARTNERSHIP FOR A NEW AUDITORIUM AND A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY, THE RYAN YMCA AND THE DISTRICT.

SO THERE ARE SOME GREAT THINGS HAPPENING IN CROWLEY ISD.

THIS BOND DATES BACK AS FAR AS 2007, AND SO WE'RE MAKING ON MAKING GOOD ON PROMISES THAT PEOPLE WHO SAT IN THESE CHAIRS BEFORE IS MADE, AS WELL AS WITH THE COMMUNITY.

SO GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING.

WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN CROWLEY ISD AND LOOKING FORWARD TO EVEN GREATER THINGS IN THE FUTURE. AND ONE OTHER THING I GOT TO ATTEND A MEETING ON, I WENT TO LOTS OF

[00:10:01]

MEETINGS THIS WEEK.

TUESDAY I THINK IT WAS FOR A HOMEGROWN HEROES INITIATIVE THAT WE ARE EXPLORING BETWEEN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT HERE IN CROWLEY, CROWLEY PD, FORT WORTH PD, ALSO WITH OUR FIRE DEPARTMENTS.

AND IT WOULD BE TO DEVELOP HOMEGROWN HEROES HERE IN CROWLEY ISD IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THOSE AGENCIES. SO WE'VE GOT SOME GREAT THINGS HAPPENING AND I'M VERY PROUD OF THE WORK THAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY WITH OUR STAKEHOLDERS AS WELL AS HERE IN THE DISTRICT.

AND I THINK THAT IS ALL I HAVE.

THAT WAS A LOT. SO WE'VE GOT GREAT THINGS TO CELEBRATE.

YEAH, WE DO. OH, AND THE BASKETBALL SEASON TO COME? YES. ALL RIGHT.

DR. HALL, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR.

MCFARLAND. WE WANT TO CELEBRATE THE BOARD AS WELL THIS EVENING AND THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF ALL CROWLEY ISD EMPLOYEES FOR AT THE SEPTEMBER BOARD MEETING APPROVING HERO PAY THE ONE THOUSAND ONE TIME PAYMENT.

THIS IS FOR OUR EMPLOYEES WHO WE KNOW ARE HEROES WHO CONTINUE TO STEP UP AND SERVE OUR STUDENTS, SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY.

THIS SMALL TOKEN OF APPRECIATION WAS ON TOP OF THE THREE PERCENT RAISES THAT YOU APPROVED BACK IN THE SUMMER FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

AND IT OF COURSE, ALIGNS WITH GOAL THREE OF OUR VISION 2025 STRATEGIC PLAN EMPOWERED STAFF BECAUSE WE KNOW WE WANT TO RECRUIT AND RETRAIN, RETAIN THE BEST EDUCATORS FOR OUR STUDENTS. HERO PAY WILL BE DEPOSITED IN OUR EMPLOYEES BANK ACCOUNTS TOMORROW, BUT TODAY WE GOT TO GO OUT TO CAMPUSES AND HAND OUT HERO PAY CARDS AND LANYARDS, AND A LOT OF OUR EMPLOYEES FORGOT THAT THIS WAS COMING.

MANY OF THEM DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS COMING, SO IT WAS A WELCOME SURPRISE AS WE GET READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS. SO BOARD, WE JUST WANT TO THANK YOU FOR INVESTING IN OUR EMPLOYEES AND FOR ACKNOWLEDGING THE HEROES THAT WORK HERE IN CROWLEY ISD.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. AND DR.

HALL CONTINUE WITH OUR THEME OF HEROES.

WE HAVE A NEW RECIPIENT THIS EVENING FOR OUR NEW BOARD OF TRUSTEES HERO AWARD, AND I WILL HAND IT BACK OVER TO YOU, DR.

HALL. ALL RIGHT, WELL, WE ALL KNOW THAT HEROES WORK HERE IN CROWLEY ISD, AND THIS RECOGNITION GIVES US THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHINE THE SPOTLIGHT ON SOME OF OUR HEROES AND SHARE THEIR STORIES WITH THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY.

TONIGHT WE CELEBRATE THREE HEROES WHOSE QUICK ACTION HELPED SAVE THE LIFE OF ONE OF OUR TEAMMATES, CHS ATHLETIC TRAINER LOU WATANABE.

WATANABE WANT TO MAKE SURE I SAY THAT CORRECTLY CORRECT ME IF I DID NOT.

CHF ATHLETIC TRAINER TARA SHERMAN AND NURSE TAMMY UYLETT, WHO WORKS IN CAMPUS HEALTH CLINIC AT H.C. STEVENS AND RICHARD ALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

I'D LIKE TO ASK THEM TO COME AND STAND HERE TO OUR LEFT AS WE SHARE THEIR STORY.

I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS STANDING ROOM LIKE CHURCH.

OK, WE WANT TO GET A GOOD LOOK AT YOU.

ALL RIGHT. IT HAPPENED AT THE CHS VARSITY FOOTBALL GAME ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8TH AT AZLE.

ON THE THIRD PLAY OF THE GAME, DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR COACH CURTIS VIOLA COLLAPSED ON THE SIDELINES AND WENT UNCONSCIOUS.

THANKFULLY, THESE THREE CISD EMPLOYEES WERE THERE TO RESPOND AND THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. COACH WATANABE WAS THE FIRST TO ATTEND TO COACH VIOLA AND TOLD SOMEONE TO CALL 9-1-1 AND GET THE AED FROM THE SIDELINES.

COACH SHERMAN QUICKLY GRABBED THE AED AND NURSE UYLETT, WHO WAS SITTING IN THE STANDS TO WATCH HER DAUGHTER PERFORM WITH THE CHS [INAUDIBLE], RUSHED TO THE FIELD TO HELP.

THESE THREE HEROES WORK TOGETHER TO CHECK COACH VIOLA'S VITALS AND THEN ADMINISTER THE AED WHEN THE UNIT TOLD THEM, SHOCK ADVISED.

AFTER THE SHOCK WAS DELIVERED, THEY BEGAN CPR.

COACH VIOLA BECAME CONSCIOUS AFTER 10 TO 15 COMPRESSIONS.

SOON AFTER REGAINING CONSCIOUSNESS, THE AMBULANCE ARRIVED AND COACH VIOLA LEFT ON A STRETCHER. THANKFULLY ALERT, COACH VIOLA IS RECOVERING AT HOME AND HAS NOT BEEN CLEARED TO COME BACK TO WORK YET.

BUT HE SENT THIS VIDEO MESSAGE FOR OUR THREE HEROES.

GOOD EVENING, THIS IS CURTIS VIOLA, AND I JUST WANTED TO SAY A FEW WORDS TO COACH LOU AND COACH SHERMAN AND MS. TAMI FOR TO SHOW MY GRATITUDE FOR WHAT THEY DID ON OCTOBER THE 8TH FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

WORDS WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH TO THANK Y'ALL FOR WHAT Y'ALL DID, Y'ALL, BECAUSE OF HOW FAST Y'ALL WORKED AND HOW EFFICIENT YOU ARE.

I'M STILL HERE AND Y'ALL SAVED MY LIFE, AND I WILL FOREVER AND EVER APPRECIATE THAT, AND I CANNOT THANK Y'ALL ENOUGH.

NOR CAN I DO ENOUGH TO SHOW YOU THAT I MY APPRECIATION.

I'VE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH AND YOU KNOW, IT SAYS THAT FOR EVERY MINUTE THAT AED IS

[00:15:05]

DELAYED, THE CHANCES OF SURVIVAL DROPS SOMEWHERE 10 TO 15 PERCENT, AND THE SPEED AND EFFICIENCY AT WHICH Y'ALL WORKED WAS INCREDIBLE.

I THINK SOMEBODY TOLD ME WITHIN A MINUTE Y'ALL HAD THE AED ON AND ABOUT FORTY FIVE SECONDS LATER IT WAS USED AND I WOKE UP AND THAT IS INCREDIBLE. I APPRECIATE IT.

YOU GAVE MY WIFE A CHANCE TO BE WITH HER HUSBAND MORE.

YOU GAVE MY CHILDREN MORE TIME WITH THEIR DADDY.

AND FOR THAT, I OWE YOU.

AND I'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO REPAY YOU.

I, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE OF THE SPEED AND EFFICIENCY AND THE TRAINING THAT Y'ALL HAD AND Y'ALL USED. MY WIFE IS HELPING ME MAKE DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS INSTEAD OF MAKING FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS, AND I JUST APPRECIATE IT.

I OWE YOU MORE THAN I CAN EVER REPAY YOU.

A DAY DOESN'T PASS BY THAT I DON'T THANK GOD FOR YOU THREE BEING THERE AND BEING TRAINED AND DOING WHAT YOU DID.

AND THE ONE THING I DO REMEMBER IS WAKING UP AND COACH LOU BEING THERE AND TELLING ME HE DIDN'T HAVE TO DO MOUTH TO MOUTH.

AND FOR THAT, WE'RE ALL THANKFUL.

SO BUT AGAIN, THANK YOU.

I LOVE Y'ALL AND I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU DID.

AND GOD BLESS YOU. THANK YOU.

PLEASE JOIN US IN THANKING AND CONGRATULATING THIS MONTH'S RECIPIENTS OF CROWLEY ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEE HERO AWARD.

COACH LOU, COACH TARA AND NURSE TAMMY.

[APPLAUSE] DOES THAT NOT EMBODY ACTING LIKE A FAMILY AND WORKING LIKE A TEAM? MY GOSH. ALL RIGHT.

[00:20:03]

ALTHOUGH HE COULD NOT JOIN US TONIGHT, WE HAVE A SPECIAL THANK YOU VIDEO FROM ONE OF OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS.

HI, I'M OFFICER AARON HEGE WITH THE CROWLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT.

I'M A POLICE OFFICER AND THE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER FOR THE CITY OF CROWLEY, AT THE BEGINNING THIS SCHOOL YEAR, MS. DIGGLES REACHED OUT TO ME EXPRESSING AN INTEREST IN PROJECTS FOR HER STUDENTS TO DO IN THE COMMUNITY. AT THAT TIME, I HAD NONE, BUT DURING THE COURSE OF MY DUTIES, I COME ACROSS AN EIGHTY ONE YEAR OLD GENTLEMAN THAT LIVES ON SOUTH HEIGHTS RIGHT NEXT TO CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL. HE HAD A SEVERELY GROWN BACKYARD, TREES, TRASH AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE YARD.

I REACHED OUT TO MS. DIGGLES. SHE SENT HER STUDENTS OVER.

THEY DID A FABULOUS JOB AND ALSO MADE AN IMPRESSION ON THE GENTLEMAN THAT LIVED THERE.

THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF WE NEED IN OUR COMMUNITIES, AND THIS IS THE KIND OF STUDENTS THAT WE NEED GROWING UP AND BECOMING RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE.

I WANT TO THANK THE CROWLEY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, CROWLEY SCHOOL BOARD FOR HAVING TEACHERS LIKE MS., DIGGLES AND STUDENTS THAT REACH OUT AND DO THE RIGHT THING.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] A TOTAL OF SEVEN CAMPUSES HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THEIR SEASON OF SERVICE PROJECTS, WITH MANY MORE WHO ARE GEARING UP AS THE HOLIDAYS BEGIN, AS ADDITIONAL CAMPUSES COMPLETE THEIR PROJECTS, WE WILL ADD THEM TO THE SEASON OF SERVICE WEBSITE.

FOR OUR COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT, WE DECIDED THAT WE WANTED TO FEED 80 FAMILIES, 80 FAMILIES IN OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER, SO WE DID A FOOD DRIVE AND WE REACHED OUR GOAL. RIGHT NOW, OUR BROTHERS IN THE PROGRAM ARE FEEDING FAMILIES A DINNER THAT INCLUDES A WHOLE CHICKEN, HAM AND MANY SIDES.

WE ARE SO GRATEFUL TO BE OF SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY.

OUR SERVICE HAS BEEN HARD, BUT WE FEEL GOOD TO HELP OTHERS.

ALSO JOINING US TONIGHT, OUR STUDENTS FROM OAKMONT ELEMENTARY, IF YOU WAVE YOUR HANDS, OAKMONT AND THE PRINCIPALS AND STUDENTS FROM THE RISE UP GROUP AT JUNE DAVIS, I THINK WE MAY, THERE YOU GO.

THANK YOU.

WELL, I AM EXTREMELY PROUD OF ALL OF THESE FINE YOUNG PEOPLE DOING THINGS AND HELPING PEOPLE IN THIS GREAT COMMUNITY THAT WE HAVE.

SO I.

I'M AT A LOSS FOR WORDS.

I MEAN, I WISH I HAD DONE STUFF LIKE THAT WHEN I WAS A KID.

BUT YEAH, BUT THESE THESE KIDS ARE REMARKABLE AND THEY NEED ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE.

[00:25:02]

[APPLAUSE] WELL, VP GRASSIA ARE DEFINITELY MAKING UP FOR YOUR SERVICE NOW, SO WE APPRECIATE IT. AND I DO, I WANT TO THANK DR. MCFARLAND AND STUFF FOR GOING BEYOND THE EXPECTATION.

THANK YOU, TRUSTEE DAVIS.

THIS NOW BRINGS US TO AGENDA ITEM FIVE POINT TWO PROJECT ADAM HART SAFE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

DR. MCFARLAND.

SO MADAM PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS, BEFORE WE ADDRESS THIS ITEM, I JUST WANT TO JUST PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGE MS. VANCAMPEN, NURSE VANCAMPEN FOR HER OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP.

AND A LOT OF THE HEROES THAT YOU'VE SEEN THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THOSE HEROES HAD TO BE TRAINED. AND SO BECAUSE OF MS. VANCAMPEN HAS DONE A MARVELOUS JOB OF PREPARING OUR EDUCATORS AND TRAINING OUR EDUCATORS.

YOU KNOW, LIVES HAVE BEEN SAVED, AND SO WE THANK YOU FOR THAT.

MS. VANCAMPEN AND THIS NEXT ITEM, YEAH, LET'S GIVE HER A HAND.

THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT.

AND THIS NEXT ITEM, THE PROJECT ADAM HART, SAFE SCHOOL DISTRICT, MS. VANCAMPEN, IS PREPARING TO PRESENT THIS ITEM, MS. VANCAMPEN. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE.

THANK YOU, MADAM. GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR.

MCFARLAND. TONIGHT WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT.

WE ARE RECOGNIZED AS A HEART SAFE SCHOOL DISTRICT, WHICH IS JUST GOES SO WELL TONIGHT WITH OUR PREVIOUS HERO AWARD.

AND WE'RE THIS RECOGNITION IS GIVEN BY COOK CHILDREN'S AND PROJECT TEXAS, PROJECT ADAMS SAVES LIVES.

THIS DESIGNATION IS AWARDED TO ALL TWENTY FIVE OF OUR CAMPUSES, WHICH WHAT DOES THIS TRANSLATE TO? THIS TRANSLATES TO THAT AT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR CAMPUSES, WE HAVE A MEDICAL RESPONSE TEAM THAT ARE TRAINED THAT ARE READY TO IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, ARE READY TO ATTEND TO THAT EMERGENCY.

AS YOU HEARD FROM COACH VIOLA, EVERY SECOND COUNTS.

AND SO IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE HAVE THESE TEAMS READILY AVAILABLE, TRAINED AND CAN GO INTO ACTION. WE'VE HAD TWO INCIDENCES SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE IN THIS ROLE OF WHERE WE'VE HAD TO ACTUALLY USE OUR TRAINING TO SAVE SOMEONE.

AND WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO THAT.

NOW WE DO USE OUR TRAINING OFTEN AND IT'S MEDICAL EMERGENCIES.

IT MAY NOT BE A CARDIAC EMERGENCY, THOUGH.

AND SO AND OUR TEAMS ARE TRAINED TO RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCE.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT GO INTO THIS IS MONTHLY AED.

CARDIAC RESPONSE TEAMS AS I SPOKE TO AND EVERYONE ON THE CAMPUS IS A PART OF THAT TEAM.

FROM ADMINISTRATORS TO NURSES TO THE PE COACH.

ABM AND OUR ARAMARK PARTNERS ARE ALL PART OF OUR TEAMS HERE AT CROWLEY ISD.

WE ALSO, IN ORDER TO TAKE THIS TO KEEP THIS RECOGNITION, WE HAVE TO DO AT LEAST ONE DRILL A YEAR. WE DO TWO, ONE EACH SEMESTER IS OUR GOAL.

AND WE MEET AND DEBRIEF WITH OUR TEAMS AFTER THOSE AS WELL.

[00:35:03]

SO WE ALSO OFFER CPR TRAINING MONTHLY FOR ALL OF OUR STAFF.

AND RECENTLY, MORE RECENTLY, WE'VE WE HAVE EVEN REACHED OUT TO SOME OF OUR FAITH BASED PARTNERS AND OPENED IT UP TO THEM AS WELL AS WELL AS OUR CTE STUDENTS.

SO BECAUSE WE RECOGNIZE, LIKE OUR AVIATION STUDENTS ARE OUT THERE BY THEMSELVES, AND SO THEY REALLY NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO CPR AS WELL AS OUR KIDS.

SO WE THINK THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT.

BUT WE JUST WANT TO I WANTED TO PRESENT THIS TO THE BOARD.

OUR CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION FOR BEING CROWLEY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, BEING A NOT JUST A HEART SAFE SCHOOL, YOU KNOW, EACH CAMPUS INDIVIDUALLY, BUT A HEART SAFE SCHOOL DISTRICT. SO.

THANK YOU, NURSE MISTY. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD FOR NURSE MISTY ON THIS TOPIC? ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP AGAIN.

THIS NOW BRINGS US TO OUR AGENDA ITEM FIVE POINT THREE THE CROWLEY ISD HEARTBEAT TEAM AWARD. MR. KIRCHNER.

MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND. EVERY MONTH WE SELECT ONE EMPLOYEE IN ALL OF CROWLEY ISD, WHO'S OUR HEARTBEAT TEAM AWARD WINNER FOR GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO INTRODUCE THIS MONTH'S WINNER TO YOU.

WATCH THIS VIDEO! HEY, GOOD AFTERNOON.

I'M SO SORRY TO INTERRUPT.

NO PROBLEM, WE ARE HERE FOR A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL OF CROWLEY ISD BECAUSE IN THIS ROOM IS A HEARTBEAT AWARD WINNER FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER.

CAN WE HEAR IT FOR MS. CHRISTINE MARES.

[APPLAUSE] MS . CHRISTINE, YOU ARE NOT ONLY THE HEARTBEAT OF THE BILL R JOHNSON CTE CENTER, YOU'RE THE HEARTBEAT OF ALL OF CROWLEY ISD FOR ALL THE GREAT THINGS YOU DO TO TAKE CARE OF EVERYONE AT THE SCHOOL, THE ADULTS IN THIS ROOM, THE MORE THAN FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED STUDENTS WHO COME IN AND OUT OF THIS BUILDING EACH AND EVERY DAY, WHAT THEY DO WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT WHAT YOU DO.

SO LET'S HEAR FOR CHRISTINE.

[APPLAUSE] MARES IS A GENUINE SPIRIT.

SHE'S ACTUALLY BEEN IN CISD FOR 20 YEARS, MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT SHE STARTED OUT AS AN INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE AND ONE OF THE ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES.

BUT WE'VE BEEN VERY BLESSED TO HAVE HER ON CAMPUS.

MARES WEARS MANY HATS, BUT SHE IS THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY AS WELL AS THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL SECRETARY.

SHE DOES ALL OF OUR BOOKKEEPING FOR ALL OF THE PROGRAMS OF STUDY.

SHE DOES THE FINANCIAL DEPOSITS, BUT SHE ALSO HELPS SOME OF OUR OTHER SECRETARIES IN THE DISTRICTS, ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT ARE NEW AND ON BOARD, AND SHE GOES AND TRAINS THEM ON HOW THEY ARE TO COMPLETE THEIR PAPERWORK.

SHE'S IN CHARGE OF MANY ACCOUNTS FOR EACH PROGRAM OF STUDY.

SO OUR STUDENTS HAVE AN ACCOUNT AND THEN OUR TEACHERS HAVE AN ACCOUNT.

AND THEN MAYBE THE ENTIRE PROGRAM OF STUDY ALSO HAS AN ACCOUNT.

SO SHE HAS TO KEEP ALL OF THOSE STRAIGHT SEEING HOW MUCH MONEY YOU'RE TURNING IN.

AND WITH THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN OUR PROGRAM, OVER THREE HUNDRED STUDENTS, SHE'S VITAL TO MAKING SURE, HEY, THESE STUDENTS HAVE PAID THESE, THESE STUDENTS HAVE NOT.

HAVE YOU COLLECTED MONEY? AND SO SHE JUST HELPS US MAKE THAT STEP JUST SO MUCH EASIER.

SHE IS THE BEST AT WHAT SHE DOES, AND ESPECIALLY AS A NEW TEACHER LAST YEAR, I JUST FELT LIKE I KNOW I CAN GO TO HER FOR WHETHER IT'S FINANCE OR JUST A LITTLE DETAIL HERE AND THERE, BECAUSE SHE'S JUST PERSONABLE.

I HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

I MEAN, I GET TO INTERACT WITH THE STUDENTS ON A DAILY BASIS, BUT YET STILL COME TO MY OFFICE AND DO MY JOB, YOU KNOW, AND SO I CAN'T ASK FOR ANYTHING BETTER.

WHEN SHE GOT THE AWARD, I COULDN'T THINK OF ANYONE ELSE MORE DESERVING.

I REALLY COULDN'T. SHE REALLY IS THE HEARTBEAT OF THE SCHOOL.

SHE REALLY IS.

SHE ALWAYS BRINGS A SMILE AND JUST LIGHTS UP A ROOM.

SHE BRINGS THE LIFE TO ANY ROOM THAT SHE WALKS INTO.

NO MATTER WHAT SHE'S GOING THROUGH, IF SHE'S HAD SOMETHING DIFFICULT GOING ON THAT MORNING OR JUST THROUGHOUT THE DAY, YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW.

BECAUSE SHE CONTINUES TO SMILE.

[00:40:02]

SHE CONTINUES TO BE A SERVICE TO OTHERS, WHICH IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER IN JANUARY AND IMMEDIATELY, YOU KNOW, I TURNED TO MY WORK FAMILY.

OF COURSE, MY FAMILY WAS THERE TO SUPPORT ME, BUT MY WORK FAMILY HERE AT BILL R.

JOHNSON WAS, I CAN'T PUT IT INTO WORDS HOW SPECIAL THEY BECAME TO ME.

IN JANUARY OF 2021, ACTUALLY JANUARY, THE 5TH OF 2021 THEY CALLED TO TELL ME THAT I HAD INVASIVE DUCTAL CARCINOMA, AND THEY ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT HERE IN THIS OFFICE AT 3:02 IN THE AFTERNOON. AND SO WITHOUT BEING SURROUNDED BY MY FAMILY.

THE FIRST PERSONS THAT I WENT TO WAS MS. TATE AND DR. WARFIELD.

SHE WALKED INTO MY OFFICE.

AND SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING.

AND AT THAT MOMENT, I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING.

SHE JUST FELL INTO MY ARMS AND I HUGGED HER SO TIGHT AND I REMEMBER TELLING HER THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE OK.

IT WAS GOING TO BE OK.

AND AT THAT MOMENT, I KNEW CHRISTINE WAS GOING TO BE OK BECAUSE IF THIS WAS A FIGHT FOR ANYBODY TO BEAT, SHE WAS THE ONE.

FROM THERE ON, YOU KNOW, I PATIENTLY WAITED TO SEE A BREAST SURGEON AND I HAD ONE OF THE MOST AGGRESSIVE CANCERS THAT YOU COULD POSSIBLY HAVE.

BUT SHE WAS VERY OPTIMISTIC AND TOLD ME, THIS IS A VERY CURABLE.

YOU'RE YOUNG, YOU'RE HEALTHY, AND YOU KNOW, YOU JUST NEED TO DO WHAT I TELL YOU TO DO.

AND FROM THAT MOMENT ON, I WAS LIKE, I'VE GOT TO DO THIS, YOU KNOW, AND SO THEY SCHEDULED MY DOUBLE MASTECTOMY AND RECONSTRUCTION IN FEBRUARY, AND I STARTED CHEMO IN MARCH AND I HAD 16 ROUNDS OF CHEMO.

AND THOSE WERE VERY CHALLENGING.

BUT I RECEIVED CHEMO EVERY THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND I WAS AT WORK ON FRIDAY, AND SOMETIMES I DIDN'T FEEL GOOD.

I FELT NAUSEATED, BUT IT NEVER FELL, MS. FREEMAN WOULD BRING ME GINGERSNAP COOKIES.

DR. WARFIELD WOULD GO GET ME A SPRITE OR GINGER ALE.

I MEAN, SOMEBODY WAS ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO HELP ME, YOU KNOW.

BUT THIS PLACE KEPT ME GOING.

WHEN SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER, OF COURSE, IT HIT ALL OF US TO OUR CORE, BUT IT ALLOWED US TO TAKE CARE OF HER THE WAY SHE ALWAYS TAKES CARE OF US.

IT BROUGHT US CLOSER TOGETHER.

WE CRIED TOGETHER.

WE PRAYED TOGETHER.

ANYTHING THAT SHE NEEDED, WE WERE THERE AND READY TO PROVIDE.

AND THIS IS NOT LIKE ONE OR TWO PEOPLE ON YOUR STAFF.

THIS LITERALLY WAS EVERYONE.

BUT I THINK THAT WAS A TESTAMENT TO WHO SHE IS.

MY CANCER HAD NOT SPREAD, AND SO I WAS VERY BLESSED.

AND FROM THAT DAY FORWARD, I'VE JUST RECEIVED SO MANY BLESSINGS, YOU KNOW.

MANY TIMES WE THINK, LIKE WHY ME.

AND EVEN THOUGH I COULD HAVE SAID THAT, I JUST KEPT THINKING TO MYSELF, I'VE GOT TO FIGHT THIS AND I'VE GOT TO WIN.

AND YOU KNOW, I HAVE I'VE WON THUS FAR WHEN SHE HAD HER LAST APPOINTMENT.

I REMEMBER WE ALL JOINED HER AS A SURPRISE SO SHE COULD KNOW THAT WE WERE THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. SO WE SHOWED UP AT THE LAST DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT WITH BALLOONS AND AND BELLS AND RANG THE BELL FOR LAST TREATMENT OF THE YEAR.

I WAS WALKING OUT OF THE CANCER CENTER AND THERE WAS MY BRJ FAMILY RINGING THEIR BELL FOR ME. AND SO IT WAS JUST THE CONSTANT LOVE AND SUPPORT THAT THEY NEVER LEFT ME BY MYSELF.

WHILE CROWLEY ISD WAS ENVISIONING THE VISION FOR TWENTY TWENTY ONE, YOU KNOW, ACT LIKE A FAMILY, WORK LIKE A TEAM.

I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD BE A TRUE TESTAMENT TO THAT VISION BECAUSE HERE AT BRJ, WE DON'T ACT LIKE A FAMILY, WE ARE A FAMILY AND WITHOUT THEIR LOVE AND THEIR SUPPORT, I WOULDN'T BE HERE TODAY.

OH, THANK YOU.

THANK YOU. WHEN I FIRST GOT DIAGNOSED, MY BREAST SURGEON SAYS, I KNOW YOU SCHOOL PEOPLE, YOU ALL WAIT TO DO EVERYTHING IN THE SUMMER.

[00:45:02]

AND I WAS VERY CONSISTENT WITH GETTING MY MAMMOGRAMS IN DECEMBER EVERY YEAR, YOU KNOW, CLOCKWORK. AND SO WHEN SHE TOLD TO ME THAT, YOU KNOW, IT MADE ME THINK LIKE, SHE'S RIGHT, YOU KNOW, WE DO THINK, WELL, I'LL WAIT TILL THE SUMMER WHEN I'M OFF.

AND REALITY HIT IT WHEN SHE TOLD ME, HAD YOU WAITED FOR THE SUMMER LIKE MOST PEOPLE MIGHT SHE GOES YOU WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN THE SAME PROGNOSIS THAT YOU DID.

AND SO ME JUST BEING CONSISTENT IN GOING FOR MY ANNUAL EXAMS AND MY MAMMOGRAMS SAVED MY LIFE. AND ANYBODY THAT'S WILLING TO LISTEN OR THAT I COME ACROSS, I TELL THEM, YOU KNOW, PLEASE GO FOR YOUR MAMMOGRAMS. I DON'T THINK THAT I WOULD BE DOING AS WELL AS I AM BECAUSE I DID HAVE A VERY AGGRESSIVE CANCER. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, OUR HEARTBEAT WINNER FOR THIS MONTH, ALL OF CROWLEY ISD MS. CHRISTINE MARES, LET'S HEAR FROM MS. MARES.

[APPLAUSE] CHRISTINE WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE HER HUSBAND REAL FAST, CHRISTINE, AND.

BOARD. I WANT TO ALLOW THE TRUSTEE ARE THERE ANY COMMENTS FOR MS. MARES FROM ANY OTHER TRUSTEES? WELL, I JUST WANT TO SAY I'M SO THANKFUL FOR YOUR SERVICE AND ALSO FOR YOUR COURAGE AND FOR YOUR COMMITMENT.

YOU ARE DEFINITELY A TESTAMENT AND I TAKE WITH WHAT YOU SAID AT THE END OF THE VIDEO AND RECEIVE THAT BECAUSE WE EDUCATORS DO WAIT TO DO EVERYTHING IN THE SUMMER.

SO THANK YOU FOR THOSE VERY I DON'T KNOW.

I JUST THEY HIT ME THAT RESONATED WITH ME.

SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SERVICE.

THANK YOU BRJ FAMILY, YOU ARE DEFINITELY A TESTAMENT TO WHAT IT IS TO NOT ACT LIKE A FAMILY, BUT TO BE A FAMILY.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

AND DR.

MCFARLAND, OF COURSE, FOR YOUR VISION.

LIKE SHE'S LIKE MS. MARES SAID WHAT A PERFECT VISION.

AND IT'S JUST BEEN A BIG LOVE FEST ALL NIGHT, SO I'M GOING TO STOP TALKING.

IS THERE ANYONE ELSE? I'VE JUST BEEN OVER HERE CRYING.

IT'S LIKE THE MOST HEART-WRENCHING VIDEO I THINK WE'VE EVER HAD.

SO THANK YOU AND THANK YOU, HUSBAND AND FAMILY FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT FOR THIS RECOGNITION. SO CAN WE GIVE MS. MARES ANOTHER HAND? [APPLAUSE] ALL RIGHT. WE ARE GOING TO WE ARE GOING TO REMOVE AGENDA ITEM 6.0 SUPERINTENDENT REPORT TONIGHT, WHICH WILL LEAD US RIGHT INTO OUR OPEN FORUM AGENDA ITEM

KIRSHNER, WHO IS OUR FIRST SPEAKER FOR THIS EVENING? MADAM PRESIDENT, OUR FIRST SPEAKER THIS EVENING IS JOY WILSON, JOY WILSON.

GOOD EVENING.

I'M JOY WILSON. GOOD EVENING, DR.

HALL, PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND. I JUST WANTED TO HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SAY THAT AS A COMMUNITY MEMBER AT LARGE, I AM PLEASED WITH THE JOB THAT DR.

MCFARLAND IS DOING AND HAS DONE FOR STUDENTS OF CROWLEY ISD AND THIS LEARNING ORGANIZATION.

DR. MCFARLAND IS EVER PRESENT AND VISIBLE IN THE COMMUNITY AND HIS COMMITMENT IS UNWAVERING TO OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF.

CROWLEY ISD, AS BOARD MEMBER DAVIS MENTIONED, HAS MAINTAINED A B WITH THE ACCOUNTABILITY RATING OF TA AND IT'S EVIDENCE OF THE DISTRICT GOALS IN THE STRATEGIC PLAN THAT THE DISTRICT IS ON PAR TO CONTINUE THAT COURSE.

I BELIEVE DR. MCFARLAND IS WELL COMPENSATED AND HE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY.

THE COST OF GOOD LEADERSHIP IS EXPENSIVE AND DR.

MCFARLAND IS WELL WORTH HIS SALARY, IF NOT MORE.

DR. MCFARLAND, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THIS COMMUNITY AND FOR SUPPORTING ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF.

OUR NEXT SPEAKER THIS EVENING IS GEORGE SHELTON, MR. SHELTON. WELL, I THINK DR.

MCFARLAND, DR. HALL, SCHOOL BOARD, PARENTS, THE STUDENTS OF CROWLEY ISD FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY. I'M PASTOR GEORGE SHELTON [INAUDIBLE] OF THE LORD'S HOUSE.

FOR YEARS, I WAS ABLE TO USE OAKMONT ELEMENTARY FOR OUR CHURCHES.

WE STARTED THAT CHURCH AND I'VE BEEN SERVING OF BEING OR AND ALSO BEEN SERVED BY THE CROWLEY ISD SINCE 1996.

MEANING I WITNESS EVERY SUPERINTENDENT THAT THIS DISTRICT COULD HAVE.

AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE, AND BY SEEING THEM, WE'VE HAD SOME GREAT ONES.

AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES THIS NEXT STATEMENT SO SIGNIFICANT.

AS MY MAMA SAID, YOU CAN'T TELL IT ALL BUT TELL ALL YOU CAN.

PROVERBS THIRTY ONE, TWENTY NINE TALKS ABOUT HOW MANY WOMEN HAVE DONE EXCELLENT, BUT YOU SURPASSED THEM ALL. AND THAT'S WHAT MY MOTHER WAS GOING TO TELL DR.

MCFARLAND AND THIS BOARD.

MANY BOYS HAVE DONE WELL, BUT Y'ALL HAVE SURPASSED THEM ALL.

AND I SAY THAT BECAUSE I'VE BEEN INVOLVED WITH SO MANY THINGS, BUT ALL PRO DADS PROGRAM, YOU'RE ALLOWED TO COME HERE.

THAT WAS HEADED BY TONY DUNGY, THE FAMOUS HALL OF FAME COACH.

WELL MEETING TONY WASN'T THAT IMPORTANT TO ME, REALLY, BUT GETTING THERE WITH MAYOR AND ALSO THE POLICE CHIEF, THEN WE BECAME FRIENDS BECAUSE OF ALL PRO DADS.

SAY, YOU KNOW, THE POLICE CHIEF. WELL, JUST LIKE DOROTHY, THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE THAT SHE KNEW GLENDA. SHE SAID, I HAVE THE RUBY SLIPPERS.

I HAVE THE SILVER HONORARY PEN THAT HE GAVE ME.

AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT, YOU KNOW, I'M BLESSED THAT ALL MY SONS HAVE HAD INVOLVEMENT WITH CROWLEY ISD, ALL PRO DADS, I TELL YOU WHAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

ONE OF MY SON COACHED IN CROWLEY ISD, THE OTHER ONE HAVE WHAT YOU CALL A DETAIL SERVICE CALLED AQUA ELITE. HE GRADUATED CROWLEY ONE MR. CROWLEY. MY BABY BOY WENT TO NORTH CROWLEY.

HE'S CONSIDERED ONE OF THE BEST MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS IN THE WORLD, AND FOR COWBOY FANS, HE WENT TALK TO THEM SATURDAY NIGHT.

Y'ALL SEE WHAT HAPPENED SUNDAY MORNING.

AND BY THE WAY DR. MCFARLAND HE THOUGHT HE WENT TO BAYLOR TOO SATURDAY TO TALK TO THEM FOR THE OKLAHOMA GAME. BUT I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT DOCTOR MCFARLAND CARE ABOUT KIDS, AND I THINK KIDS STAND FOR KIND, INNOCENT, DEDICATED AND SINCERE.

AND THOSE ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT I SEE IN THIS MAN BECAUSE HE CARED ABOUT THE KIDS.

I STILL HAVE KIDS AND GRANDKIDS IN THIS DISTRICT, AND I KNOW LEADERSHIP IS CHALLENGING.

I KNOW FOR MYSELF, I'M A PASTOR, I'M A MANAGER OF A FORTUNE 500 COMPANY, BUT I WANT YOU TO KNOW. MORE IMPORTANTLY, BEING A DAD AND A GRANDDAD IS A CHALLENGE, BUT ALLOWED ALL PRO DADS TO BE A PART HAS BEEN IMPORTANT TO LEAVE THIS SCRIPTURE.

GALATIANS SIX AND NINE.

LET US NOT BECOME WEARY AND WELL DOING FOR AT THE PROPER TIME WILL REAP A HARVEST IF WE DON'T GIVE UP Y'ALL ARE TICK, TICK, TICK.

BOOM, DYNAMITE.

GOD BLESS YOU. OUR NEXT SPEAKER THIS EVENING IS MIKE WOODWARD, MR. WOODWARD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE BOARD SUPERINTENDENT, I'M JUST A I ADDRESS, 305 WILSON STREET, JUST AN INTERESTED CITIZEN.

I DON'T KNOW, Y'ALL.

Y'ALL DON'T KNOW ME.

I WANT TO SPEAK JUST A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHY WE HAVE EDUCATION, IN MY OPINION.

[00:55:02]

SO WHEN THE FOUNDERS MADE THIS NATION, IT HAD NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE.

IN FACT, THERE WERE PEOPLE THAT SAY IT COULDN'T BEEN DONE.

THERE'S PEOPLE THAT SAID, YOU CAN'T HAVE PEOPLE GOVERN THEMSELVES.

THAT'S RIDICULOUS IDEA.

THE MAIN REASON FOR THAT WAS, THEY SAID, BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH VIRTUE TO GOVERN THEMSELVES.

WE'VE SEEN WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH VIRTUE TO GOVERN THEMSELVES.

IT'S CHAOS. WELL, THAT WAS RIGHT BEFORE THE GREAT AWAKENING.

WHEN THE GREAT AWAKENING HAPPENED, THERE WAS A REASSESSMENT BECAUSE THE VIRTUE LEVEL THE PEOPLE WENT UP AND THEY SAID, MAYBE WE DO HAVE ENOUGH VIRTUE TO GOVERN OURSELVES.

SO THEY KNEW GOING IN THAT THE ONLY WAY FREE PEOPLE COULD GOVERN THEMSELVES AND STAY FREE AND STAY VIRTUOUS AS IF THEY WERE AN EDUCATED PEOPLE.

SO OUR IDEA OF PUBLIC EDUCATION COMES FROM THE IDEA OF CITIZENSHIP MUST BE TAUGHT, VIRTUES MUST BE TAUGHT.

AND THAT'S YOUR JOB AND THE JURY'S OUT ON HOW WELL YOU'RE DOING THAT JOB.

SOME PEOPLE WE JUST HEARD THINK YOU'RE DOING A GREAT JOB.

SOME PEOPLE I'VE HEARD DON'T THINK YOU'RE DOING A GOOD JOB.

I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH TO MAKE THAT EXHORTATION YET.

I THOUGHT I'D CALL YOU BACK TO WHAT I THINK YOUR JOB IS JOBS TO TEACH CITIZENSHIP AND VIRTUE. AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SURPRISED ME WHEN I CAME LAST MONTH TO THIS MEETING WAS THE FOUNDATION OF VIRTUE IS COURAGE BECAUSE YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE OTHER VIRTUES YOU WANT. BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE COURAGE TO ENGAGE THOSE VIRTUES, THEY ARE USELESS.

AND IT JUST I'M SURPRISED THAT ALL THE MASK WEARING BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SPEAK COURAGE.

WHAT ARE WE TEACHING KIDS IF WE'RE ALL MASKED UP LIKE WE'RE AFRAID OF SOMETHING? BECAUSE IF WE REALLY WANT TO PROTECT AGAINST THE VIRUS, I WANT TO SEE THOSE M NINETY FIVE MASKS BECAUSE THESE CLOTH THINGS WE'RE ALL WEARING, I WEAR ONE FOR WORK.

MY COMPANY REQUIRES IT.

THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING.

AND IF YOU THINK THEY DO, YOU NEED TO STUDY UP.

THEY AREN'T DOING ANYTHING.

SO I'M CURIOUS ABOUT THAT.

THOUGHT I'D BRING THAT TO YOU AND WE'LL SEE WHERE WE GO.

THANK YOU. OUR NEXT SPEAKER THIS EVENING.

THE COMMENTS WERE SUBMITTED IN WRITING BY MR. JEFF CARTER. I'LL BE READING THOSE.

JEFF CARTER 1120 JUNE GRASS LANE, PRESIDENT HALL, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND $25 MILLION.

THAT'S THE PRICE WE HAVE TO PAY TO GET RID OF THIS PANDEMIC.

NO, IT'S NOT. I DECLARE IT RIGHT NOW.

WE MUST DECLARE IT BECAUSE YOU UP THERE IN YOUR IVORY TOWERS NEVER WILL UNTIL WE DO.

THAT'S NEVER. THERE'S NEVER GOING TO BE AN ALL CLEAR OR A BACK TO NORMAL FROM TYRANTS LIKE YOU BECAUSE YOU WILL NEVER TURN DOWN THE MONEY, NOR THE HERO'S PRAISE.

YET EVEN $100 MILLION A BILLION TRILLIONS NOR SUPPOSED HEROES LIKE YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CONTROL NOR STOP A RESPIRATORY VIRUS.

THAT BEING SAID, SCIENCE DOES ACTUALLY GIVE US THE ALL CLEAR BY ALL CLEAR I MEAN THAT IT IS NOTHING WE CAN'T SOLVE NOW.

WE DO NOT HAVE TO DIE FROM LATE TREATMENT AND VENTILATORS ANYMORE, NOR MALPRACTISE.

WE DON'T HAVE TO BE CONFUSED BY MALFEASANCE OR MISINFORMATION IN THE REPORTING BY YOU UP THERE, DOWN HERE, WE GOT IT.

WE PEASANTS AND SUBJECTS DOWN HERE DON'T HAVE THERAPEUTIC NIHILISM ANYMORE LIKE YOU DO.

WE HAVE EARLY TREATMENTS THAT CLEAR THIS VIRUS BY AT LEAST 80 PERCENT, PER DR.

PETER MCCULLOUGH, COMPARED TO THE OPTIONS YOU GIVE US AND 100 PERCENT COMPARED TO THE MASK. BECAUSE OF COURSE, THEY AS ROCK SOLID DATA SHOWS, WHICH I WILL HAPPILY PROVIDE ON REQUEST IN DETAIL SO YOU'RE SURE NEVER WORKED.

THIS VIRUS IS MORE CONTROLLABLE THAN THE FLU.

IF WE DON'T HAVE TYRANTS LIKE YOU SUPPRESSING THE TRUTH OF BETTER TREATMENTS AND OPTIONS BY OMISSION, IGNORANCE OR CONFORMITY, I'M SURE VACCINE MANDATES ARE SOON TO COME FROM YOUTUBE. SOMETHING LIKE THAT VACCINE WILL CURE US ALL, AT LEAST BY BOOSTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN BY PENALTY AND OR THREAT OF LAW AND OR NO MORE EDUCATION.

YEAH, SURE. 15 DAYS.

WE REALLY DON'T NEED YOU TO INTERFERE AT ALL.

SINCE THE ALL CLEAR HAS BEEN GIVEN BY REAL SCIENCE, REAL TREATMENT, WE NOW HAVE A CIVIL DUTY TO STOP YOU AT EVERY ILL GOTTEN OR ILL PERCEIVE TURN.

WE DON'T HAVE TO BE PARENTS OF KIDS IN THE SCHOOL TO TELL YOU NOT TO ABUSE THE KIDS IN THIS COMMUNITY WITH LIES IN CONFORMITY WITH EVERYONE'S TAXPAYER DOLLARS.

YOU SHOULD AND WILL BE STOPPED.

THAT IS ALL FOR NOW. AND OUR NEXT COMMENTS WERE SUBMITTED TO US BY MR. TERRENCE HOWARD TO BE READ.

I'LL BE READING THOSE.

MY NAME IS TERRENCE HOWARD AND MY ADDRESS IS 100 LONE OAK DRIVE CROWLEY, TEXAS MS. HALL, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND. I WAS REALLY APPALLED WHEN I SAW THE LAST BOARD MEETING AND THE ATTACKS ON THE CROWLEY, ISD, BOARD AND SUPERINTENDENT.

I HAVE LIVED IN THE CROWLEY ISD FOR 28 YEARS.

MY TWO CHILDREN GRADUATED FROM THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT.

I HAVE SEEN TWO OTHER SUPERINTENDENTS WHO RAN THE DISTRICT AND NEVER SEEN AN ATTACK, SUCH

[01:00:02]

AS I SAW THAT AT THE LAST MEETING.

I WANTED THE RECORD TO SHOW THAT BEFORE COVID, WHEN DR.

MCFARLAND INHERITED THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT, IT WAS A C AVERAGE DISTRICT.

UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, THE DISTRICT GREAT HAS GRADE.

THE DISTRICT GRADE HAS RAISED TO A B BEFORE COVID.

DR. MCFARLAND AND THE CROWLEY ISD SCHOOL BOARD KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND MOVE FORWARD. DR.

MCFARLAND HAS BEEN A SUPERINTENDENT FOR ALL KIDS IN THE DISTRICT, NOT JUST THE SMART ONES. WITH THE VISION OF HAVING OUR YOUTH GRADUATE WITH A CERTIFICATION TO START THEIR OWN BUSINESS IS AMAZING.

THE STAFF AT TARRANT COUNTY COLLEGE TOLD ME IN THE MEETING THAT THEY APPLAUD THIS DISTRICT FOR HAVING A VISION TO CREATE SUCH A PROGRAM FOR THE SUCCESS OF OUR YOUTH.

I JUST WANT THIS BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND TO KNOW THAT THE COMMUNITY SUPPORTS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR A JOB.

WELL DONE. THANK YOU.

OUR NEXT SPEAKER THIS EVENING IS MR. GARY LOZADA, MR. LOZADA. GOOD EVENING TO ALL MY NAME IS GARY LOSADA, AND I RESIDE AT 802 DOVE CREEK TRAIL, SOUTH LAKE, TEXAS.

I CURRENTLY AM A MEMBER OF THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF THE MEMBER EXCUSE ME, DIRECTORS.

APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AGO, THIS BOARD CAST ALL ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE VOTES IN MY FAVOR. I'M HERE TONIGHT TO ASK YOU TO CONSIDER CASTING THOSE VOTES IN MY FAVOR AGAIN.

LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME BECAUSE YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW ME, BUT I RECEIVED A MASTER'S DEGREE FROM STANFORD UNIVERSITY IN EDUCATION.

I HAVE HELD POSITIONS AS ASSISTANT TO THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS AND ASSISTANT TO THE CITY MANAGER. ALSO, I HAVE SERVED AS DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION FOR DALLAS AREA RAPID TRANSIT. I SERVED AS A MEMBER OF THE TARRANT APPRAISAL REVIEW BOARD FOR SIX YEARS PRIOR TO COMING TO THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

THERE IS A HUGE DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE TWO.

MY BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE UNIQUELY QUALIFIED ME FOR THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

NOW LET ME SHARE WITH YOU SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND THE CHANGES THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE THESE PAST TWO YEARS.

IN MY OPINION, THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD HAS BECOME MORE TRANSPARENT.

THAT IS A VERY IMPORTANT THING IN THE COMMUNITY.

MEETINGS ARE NOW PUBLICLY BROADCASTED, THEY HAD NOT BEEN IN THE PAST.

BOARD AGENDAS AND PACKET INFORMATION ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE PRIOR TO A POSTED MEETING.

AT THE END OF 2019, THERE WAS 825 THOUSAND OF UNSPENT DISTRICT BUDGETED FUNDS.

THEY WERE RETURNED BACK TO THE TAXING ENTITIES.

AT THE END OF 2020, THERE WAS A MILLION TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS OF UNSPENT FUNDS. THAT AMOUNT WAS ALSO RETURNED TO THE TAXING ENTITIES.

IN JUNE OF 2021 THIS YEAR, TATA HAD HAD ITS FIRST COMPREHENSIVE BUDGET WORKSHOP SINCE 2016. THAT'S VERY, VERY IMPORTANT.

WE, AS BOARD MEMBERS, NEED TO KNOW HOW THE MONEY IS BEING SPENT.

I COULD GO ON AND TELL YOU A LOT MORE THAN I KNOW MY TIME IS LIMITED.

SO IN CONCLUSION, I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT THERE IS NO BOARD MEMBER, IN MY OPINION, MORE QUALIFIED AND MORE DIVERSE THAN I CAN PROVIDE TO YOU THAN MYSELF.

I'VE PROVEN AS MUCH THESE PAST TWO YEARS AND BELIEVE MY JOB IS NOT FINISHED, AND THAT'S WHY I'M RUNNING AGAIN.

I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOUR VOTES ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO ME, AND MY QUESTION WOULD BE IF IT'S SO IMPORTANT, WHERE ARE THE OTHER FOLKS AND CANDIDATES AND WHY ARE THEY NOT HERE IN FRONT OF YOU STATING THE IMPORTANCE? THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I WILL HANG AROUND FOR THE ACTION ITEM ALSO, IN CASE YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OF ME.

THANK YOU. OUR NEXT SPEAKER THIS EVENING IS MR. VINCENT ADAMS, MR. ADAMS. GOOD EVENING.

I AM VINCENT B.

ADAMS. I LIVE AT 6337 WARWICK HILLS DRIVE IN FORT WORTH.

I AM EXCITED AS WELL AS DELIGHTED TO BE HERE TODAY ON BEHALF OF BEING JUST A A CITIZEN AND A STAKEHOLDER IN CROWLEY ISD.

ALONG WITH THE MEN OF ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY INC., ALPHA PHI ALPHA PROMOTES BROTHERHOOD AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND BUILDS LEADERS.

AND PART OF THE REASON WE'RE HERE TONIGHT IS TO ADVOCATE FOR ADVOCATE FOR OUR CHILDREN.

I HAVE HAD THE VERY DISTINCT HONOR AND PRIVILEGE OF WATCHING THIS DISTRICT FROM AFAR AND WITH THE DISTRICT FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

I'M A FIRM BELIEVER IN THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING, THE FACTS, THE HARD DATA STATES WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE'VE COME, AND WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO STILL.

HOWEVER, ANYTIME YOU DO SOMETHING OF VALUE OR SOMETHING, THAT'S A GAME CHANGER.

THERE'S GOING TO BE PUSHBACK.

IT'S GOING TO BE PERIPHERAL.

THAT'S PART OF THE PROCESS.

[01:05:01]

I AM SO GRATEFUL TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR THE WORK THAT YOU'VE DONE.

WHEN I SEE DIRT BEING TURNED IN THIS COMMUNITY AFTER THE YEARS WHEN I SEE THE LOOK ON THE KIDS FACES ON THESE NEW BUILDINGS, EVEN ME WHEN I WENT OVER TO THE BILL R JOHNSON, THAT IS PARAMOUNT. THAT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN.

THERE'S A LOT OF PLANNING, THERE'S A LOT OF VISION, THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS THAT GO INTO THAT.

KUDOS AND COMMENDATIONS TO EACH ONE OF YOU AND EVERYBODY.

THAT'S A SUPPORT OF THE VILLAGE.

WE LIFT AS WE CLIMB, AND THIS WHOLE TOPIC IS NOT ABOUT VINCENT B.

ADAMS OR US.

THE CUSTOMER IS THE CHILD.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS FOR THE CHILD, ACADEMIC RIGOR FOR THE CHILD.

SO AS SOON AS WE GET THE CHILD, THE CUSTOMER BACK MAKE THEM THE MAIN THING, THEN WE CAN CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD.

AND I DIGRESS WITH ONE LAST QUOTE FROM OUR LATE FRATERNITY BROTHER.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF HIM, BROTHER REV.

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR..

HE SAID THE ARC OF THE MORAL UNIVERSE IS LONG, BUT IT BENDS TOWARD JUSTICE.

I CHALLENGE EACH ONE OF YOU THAT ARE IN THIS ROOM TO STAND BEHIND OUR HASHTAG CROWLEY PRIDE NOT DENIED, NOT DIVIDE, BUT UNIFIED.

AND WHERE THERE IS UNITY, THERE IS STRENGTH.

OUR NEXT SPEAKER THIS EVENING IS ANGIE HUNT, MS. HUNT. I DON'T KNOW HOW I CAN BEAT THAT BOOMING VOICE, THOUGH.

HELLO, I'M ANGIE HUNT.

I RESIDE ON SLIPPERY ROCK DRIVE, SO I'VE BEEN COMING TO OUR MORE BOARD MEETINGS SINCE AUGUST. I DON'T PLAN ON STOPPING BECAUSE I DO LIKE COMING AND LEARNING ABOUT THE THINGS IN OUR DISTRICT, AND I UNDERSTAND IT'S Y'ALL'S JOB TO PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD AND THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT AND THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO HIGHLIGHT.

BUT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT I'M HEARING FROM OUR TEACHERS SPECIFICALLY, THIS IS NOT MYSELF. THEY'RE TELLING ME THAT THEY'RE WORKING 12 HOUR DAYS AND BEING TOLD IT'S NOT ENOUGH. THEY'VE BEEN GIVEN NEW CURRICULUM FOR MATH.

I DID SUBMIT A REQUEST TO GET INFORMATION ON THAT, BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING BACK YET, AND THEY'RE TELLING ME THAT THERE'S SEVEN STEPS IN THIS PROCESS AND THEY CAN GET THROUGH THREE. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY THIS BY A VETERAN TEACHER, A TEACHER WHO'S BEEN TEACHING FOR 20 PLUS YEARS THAT THEY'RE GIVEN A CURRICULUM THEY CAN'T GET THROUGH.

LIKE WE NEED TO GIVE OUR TEACHERS CONFIDENCE AND THEIR TEACHING, AND WE DON'T NEED TO MICROMANAGE THEM DOWN TO TO THE SECOND THAT THEY NEED TO BE TEACHING, ESPECIALLY OUR VETERAN TEACHERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN THEIR CLASSROOMS, WHO KNOW WHEN THEY'VE LOST THEIR KIDS IN MATH THAT THEY NEED TO PIVOT TO SCIENCE FOR A LITTLE BIT, TO GET THEIR KIDS TO COME BACK HERE. AND WE'RE NOT GIVING THEM THAT FLEXIBILITY.

I'M I'VE BEEN TOLD BY TEACHERS, THEY'RE JUST WAITING OUT THIS YEAR, THEY'RE JUST WAITING IT OUT. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT UPPER ADMINISTRATION HAS NOT BEEN IN CLASSROOMS. I MEAN, THIS IS FOR THEIR SCHOOL, BUT THEY'RE BEING TOLD TO DO THINGS BY THE ADMINISTRATION AND THE ADMINISTRATION IS NOT COMING DOWN TO SEE WHAT IT'S LIKE IN THEIR CLASSROOM. I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU GUYS ARE FEELING, BUT I'M SPRING TIRED ALREADY.

I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT HAPPENED, BUT I HAVE AN IDEA.

I THINK PART OF IT IS YOU EXTENDED OUR SCHOOL DAYS WAS THAT THREE YEARS AGO, OUR DAYS GOT EXTENDED AND THEN THIS PAST SUMMER I THINK IT WAS TWENTY EIGHT TO MAY HAVE BEEN.

I THINK IT WAS 18-19 WHEN WE EXTENDED OUR SCHOOL DAYS.

AND WE'VE ALSO WE HAD NO SUMMER THIS YEAR.

AND I THINK THAT PART OF THAT IS FED INTO, YOU KNOW, YOU KEEP HEARING ABOUT COVID FATIGUE, BUT OUR SCHOOL BOARD CHOSE TO GIVE US SUCH A SMALL SUMMER THAT WE'RE STILL EXHAUSTED AND WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO RECOVER, AND THAT WAS A POOR CHOICE.

AND I THINK THAT THAT'S A HUGE CHOICE THAT WAS MADE, THAT WAS POOR, AND WE HAVE THE SIXTH HIGHEST PAID SUPERINTENDENT IN THE STATE IN THE STATE.

THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW, AND THERE HAS TO BE ACCOUNTABILITY THERE.

AND I UNDERSTAND ALL THE LOVE FEST AND ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE OUT HERE TO SUPPORT YOU.

BUT WE NEED TO HAVE PEOPLE ASK QUESTIONS TO MAKE SURE THAT WHAT WE ARE DOING IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS IN CROWLEY ISD AND NOT THE SELECT FEW THAT YOU LOWER GATE STANDARDS FOR THAT YOU GO THROUGH PROCESSES TO CHANGE THE WAY WE.

OH. OUR FINAL COMMENTS WILL BE READ TONIGHT BY ROBERT JOSEPH SWEET,

[01:10:01]

MR. SWEET. GOOD EVENING, BOARD, DR.

MCFARLAND, THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORTS.

I, TOO AS A PASTOR.

HAD CHILDREN GRADUATE FROM NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL, I'VE GOT VESTED TIME IN THIS DISTRICT. IT IS A GREAT, GREAT HONOR THAT I STAND HERE TODAY IN FULL SUPPORT OF THIS CROWLEY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, BOARD, WHICH REPRESENTS THE NEW MAKEUP OF THIS COMMUNITY. I REPRESENT SEVERAL PASTORS AS A BUSINESS OWNER, AS A LEADER IN THIS COMMUNITY, AS A PART OF THE FAITH BASED PARTNERSHIP IN CROWLEY ISD, GRADUATE OF PRAIRIE VIEW A&M AND ALSO A MEMBER OF THE OMEGA SIDE FIVE FRATERNITY INC.

AND PASTOR LIFE INSPIRATIONAL COMMUNITY CHURCH, AND I ALSO DO RESIDE AT 641 HUTCHINS DRIVE IN CROWLEY. OUR MINISTRY IS ALSO A STRONG SUPPORTER OF SYCAMORE POINT, IN WHICH CROWLEY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT IS A PART OF.

I STAND HERE TODAY WHO WAS ONE WHO WAS APPALLED, DISMAYED, OUTRAGED AND OUTRIGHT DISGUSTED AT THE AUDACITY OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO SHOW NO APPRECIATION AND TOTALLY DISRESPECTED DR.

MCFARLAND AND HIS STAFF FOR THE TIRELESS WORK AND EFFORTS BEING MADE BY THE BOARD TO ENSURE THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT FUNCTIONS AT A HIGH LEVEL IN SPITE OF THE DEADLY PANDEMIC THAT HAS CAUSED MAJOR PANDEMONIUM THROUGHOUT EVERY SCHOOL DISTRICT IN OUR COMMUNITY, IN THE STATE AND IN THE NATION.

THIS ISSUE AT HAND IS NOT WHETHER WE CHOOSE TO TAKE SIDES ON ONE POLITICAL PARTY SUPPORT JOE BIDEN, WHO WAS ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, OR EVEN IF WE CHOOSE TO SUPPORT AT THE STATE LEVEL.

GOV. GREG ABBOTT, WHILE WE ARE FIGHTING TO STAY ALIVE AND MAKE THE BEST CHOICES FOR OUR OWN INDIVIDUAL LIVES AND THE LIKE.

IT'S NOT ABOUT TAKING SIDES BECAUSE OF SOMEONE'S AGENDA.

IT'S ABOUT DOING WHAT IS RIGHT FOR OUR CHILDREN IN THIS CROWLEY IN THIS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. THIS DISTRICT IS MADE UP OF MORE THAN 15000 STUDENTS.

AGAIN, OUR ACCOUNTABILITY RATING IS AT A B.

IT IS AT A B SINCE 201- AND 20 AND NOTE DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.

THE STATE OF TEXAS WAIVE THE ACCOUNTABILITY RATING FOR THE SAME REASON OF DECLARING THE STATE AS A DISASTER.

NINETY TWO POINT SIX OF THE STUDENTS GRADUATE WITH A DIPLOMA.

OUR DROPOUT RATE WAS ONLY ONE POINT FIVE PERCENT.

NINE NINE NINE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ONE IS THE AVERAGE SCORE FOR THE S.A.T.

IN CLOSING, I'M A PREACHER, SO LET ME GO AHEAD AND GET THIS RIGHT.

I WANT TO SAY THIS.

I WANT TO THANK DR. MCFARLAND FOR BEING A VISIONARY.

I READ A BOOK THAT SAYS, THOUGH THE VISION TARRY, WAIT ON IT, IT WILL COME TO PASS.

YOU'VE DONE ALL OF THAT.

MOREOVER, YOUR VISION GOES BEYOND JUST EDUCATION.

YOUR CONCERN IS FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY OF THE STUDENT.

YOU'VE PROVIDED RESOURCES TO FAMILIES DURING THE PANDEMIC, SUCH AS FOOD STATION TO JACKIE CARDEN. MY GRANDDAUGHTER ATTENDS THE SCHOOL.

SO AM I DONE? THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I APPRECIATE YOU. THANK YOU.

THIS CONCLUDES OUR PUBLIC COMMENT FOR THIS EVENING AND BRINGS US TO OUR REPORT ITEMS.

[8.0 Report Item(s)]

AGENDA ITEM EIGHT POINT ONE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK.

DR. MCFARLAND.

SO MADAM PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS WERE DEFINITELY EXCITED TO BRING FORWARD THIS NEXT ITEM.

THIS NEXT ITEM THAT GOMEZ AND GOMEZ INSTRUCTION OF FRAMEWORK PRESENTATION WILL BE DELIVERED BY MS. MARIA ANGUIANO AND MR. NICHOLAS KEITH. AND WE'RE DEFINITELY EXCITED ABOUT THE RESULTS OF OUR BILINGUAL PROGRAM.

AND SO YOU'LL BE YOU'LL BE HAPPY TO HEAR SOME OF THE INFORMATION THAT'S PRESENTED TONIGHT.

MS. ANGUIANO. GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT, DR.

MCFARLAND AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

TONIGHT, I'M GOING TO BE SHARING SOME INFORMATION ON THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ DUAL LANGUAGE ENRICHMENT MODEL THAT ALIGNS WITH GOAL 1, THRIVING STUDENTS GOAL THREE, EMPOWERED STAFF.

THE MODEL WE USE IN CROWLEY ISD IS THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ DUAL LANGUAGE ENRICHMENT PROGRAM FOR OUR DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM STUDENTS IN OUR BILINGUAL PROGRAMS. WHAT IS IT AND HOW DO WE USE IT HERE IN CROWLEY ISD? BUT BEFORE I MOVE ON WITH THIS INFORMATION, I WANT TO THANK SOME OF OUR TEACHERS, OUR ADMINISTRATORS AND PARENTS FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF THE DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM.

I HAVE WITH ME, MS. ROSA HERNANDEZ, MS. [INAUDIBLE] MS. [INAUDIBLE] WAS RECOGNIZED IN THE 25TH ANNUAL NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BILINGUAL EDUCATORS THIS PAST YEAR. AND I DEFINITELY RECOGNIZE THAT NONE OF THIS SUCCESS COULD HAPPEN WITHOUT THE SUPPORT AND THEIR IMPLEMENTATION.

[01:15:03]

SO I ESPECIALLY WANT TO THANK THE TEACHERS FOR THEIR TIME AND DEDICATION.

THIS YEAR THE DISTRICTS THAT ELECTED LEAD TEACHERS FOR EACH DUAL LANGUAGE CAMPUS WHO GAVE SOME OF THEIR TIME DURING THE SUMMER TO PUT TOGETHER WHAT WE CALL THE MODEL DUAL LANGUAGE CLASSROOMS. AND THIS WAS WITH THE HELP OF THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ DUAL LANGUAGE CONSULTANTS.

SO CROWLEY ISD HAS IMPLEMENTED THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ PROGRAM FOR THE PAST 13 YEARS.

SO I WANT TO BRING TO YOU THE ATTENTION TO MATH DATA GOING BACK TO 2016 AND UP TO 2019.

AS YOU CAN SEE, CROWLEY ISD DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM EXCEEDS BOTH THE REGION AND THE STATE, WITH THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS PASSING THE MATH STAR ASSESSMENT.

AND YOU'LL ALSO FIND THAT THAT IS ALSO TRUE FOR THE STAR READING ASSESSMENT.

AND I'D LIKE TO GO BACK TO THAT JUST A LITTLE MR. HAND, IF YOU DON'T MIND.

YOU WILL SEE THAT IN 2018, THE STATE WAS AT 70.

I'M SORRY, 2016 AT SEVENTY THREE PERCENT, WHILE IN CROWLEY ISD WE'RE AT EIGHTY THREE PERCENT. YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE IS A CONTINUOUS GROWTH AND IN 2019, WHILE THE STATE WAS AT SEVENTY NINE PERCENT AND THE REGION WAS AT SEVENTY SEVEN PERCENT, THE DISTRICT WAS AT 88 PERCENT.

SO WHAT IS THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ DUAL LANGUAGE ENRICHMENT MODEL? THIS MODEL WAS CREATED BY RICHARD GOMEZ AND DR.

LEO GOMEZ IN 1995.

IT HAS PROVEN TO BE EFFECTIVE BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS. IT IS A COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL.

IT INCORPORATES 30 EDUCATIONAL BEST PRACTICES THAT ARE ALSO WELL GROUNDED IN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH. THIS MODEL HAS ITS OWN KEY COMPONENTS THAT ARE SPECIFIC TO THE WAY IT'S DELIVERED WITHIN THE MODEL, AND THERE'S A SEVEN STEP LESSON CYCLE THAT IS ALSO SPECIFIC TO THIS DUAL LANGUAGE ENRICHMENT MODEL.

SO WHAT I'D LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU IS THE SEVEN STEP LESSON CYCLE.

THIS IS A COMPONENT THAT HAS GOTTEN A GREAT DEAL OF ATTENTION ACROSS DISTRICTS.

THIS LESSON CYCLE INCORPORATES KEY COMPONENTS OF THE INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL, WHICH CAN BE TAUGHT IN ONE SCHOOL DAY, BUT CAN ALSO CYCLE INTO A SECOND SCHOOL DAY, WHICH IS SOMETIMES DEPENDENT ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE LEARNING TARGET.

I WANT TO BRING YOUR ATTENTION TO A VERY KEY STEP IN THE LESSON CYCLE, AND THAT IS STEP FOUR. IN STEP FOUR, TEACHERS USE PAIRS AND THEN GROUPS FOR HIGHER ORDER THINKING LEVEL ACTIVITIES WITH A FOCUS ON APPLICATION ANALYSIS, SYNTHESIS OR EVALUATION.

THIS PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH RIGOR IN THE LESSON CYCLE.

IN THIS LESSON, CYCLE GOES ACROSS ALL CONTENT AREAS.

SO IN CROWLEY ISD, WE'VE USED THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ MODEL I HAD SHARED FOR ABOUT 13 YEARS IN OUR SPANISH ONE WAY DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM.

WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY SEVEN SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY FIVE STUDENTS IN THE TWO WAY DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM, TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ONE IN OUR VIETNAMESE ONE WAY DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM, FIFTY SEVEN STUDENTS.

AND THIS IMPLEMENTATION FOR OUR VIETNAMESE BILINGUAL PROGRAM IS FAIRLY NEW.

IT IS ON ITS THIRD YEAR.

AND IN THE MATH CLASSROOMS GRADES THIRD THROUGH 5TH, TWO THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY SIX STUDENTS. SO I'D NOW LIKE TO PASS THIS OVER TO MR. KEITH, WHO WILL SHARE ON THE EXPANSION OF THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ MODEL IN THE DISTRICT.

THANK YOU, MS. ANGUIANO.

GOOD EVENING, BOARD TRUSTEES, DR.

MCFARLAND. SO A KEY THING TO UNDERSTAND IN CROWLEY IS THAT WHEN WE SEE SOMETHING THAT WORKS FOR A SMALL GROUP OF STUDENTS OVER AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME, WE WANT TO SCALE THOSE BEST PRACTICES TO MAKE THEM WORK FOR ALL STUDENTS.

SO THIS YEAR WE'VE EXPANDED THE GOMEZ AND GOMEZ DUAL LANGUAGE ENRICHMENT MODEL INTO ALL OF OUR THIRD THROUGH FIFTH GRADE MATH CLASSROOMS, WHETHER THEY ARE DUAL LANGUAGE OR GENERAL EDUCATION. BECAUSE WHAT WE'VE SEEN IS THE EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES THAT ARE GROUNDED IN RESEARCH AND HAVE BEEN IN PRACTICE FOR OVER 20 YEARS.

THEY'RE WORKING WELL FOR OUR BILINGUAL EDUCATION STUDENTS AND NOW WE'RE STARTING TO LEVERAGE THEM FOR ALL OUR STUDENTS.

AND WE ARE ALREADY STARTING TO SEE EVIDENCE THAT THIS PRACTICE IS THE WAY TO GO BECAUSE IT GIVES US A CHANCE TO WORK ON UNFINISHED LEARNING FOR STUDENTS BECAUSE THERE'S TIME BUILT IN FOR WHAT WE CALL CONCEPTUAL REFINEMENT FOR STUDENTS WHO MAY NOT BE GETTING IT ON THE FIRST TRY AND MAY NEED ADDITIONAL SUPPORT.

AND THERE'S ALSO THE OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH AT A HIGH LEVEL THAT STUDENTS NEED IN ORDER TO GET THAT GRADE LEVEL CONTENT.

AND SO WITH OUR FIRST DISTRICT ASSESSMENT THAT WAS ADMINISTERED AT THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER, WE'RE SEEING OUR THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE MATH CLASSROOMS PERFORMING AT OR

[01:20:04]

ABOVE THE LEVEL THAT THEY WERE PRE-PANDEMIC IN 2019.

SO FOR OUR FOURTH GRADERS ARE OUTPERFORMING OUR 2019 FOURTH GRADERS ON THAT ASSESSMENT BY 12 PERCENTAGE POINTS.

OUR FIFTH GRADERS ARE OUTPERFORMING OUR 2019 FIFTH GRADERS BY ALMOST 16 POINTS AT THE MEETS GRADE LEVEL STANDARD.

SO ONE DATA POINT DOES NOT PROVE A MODEL.

BUT WE'RE VERY PLEASED WITH THE DIRECTION THAT WE'RE HEADED AND WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT GETTING OUR WINTER AND SPRING BENCHMARK SCORES TO FURTHER LOOK AT THE WORK THAT WE'VE DONE WITH GOMEZ AND GOMEZ.

AND WE'D BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. MR. KEITH MS., ANGUIANO DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD REGARDING THE PRESENTATION FOR TONIGHT? I DO. DR HALL TRUSTEE DAVIS MR. KEITH, WOULD YOU PLEASE? I THINK I HEARD YOU CORRECTLY WHEN YOU TALKED ABOUT THE INCREASES THAT WE'RE SEEING NOW OVER THE PERCENTAGES WE HAD PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC.

WOULD YOU RESTATE THOSE, PLEASE? ABSOLUTELY. SO WITH OUR THIRD GRADERS, WHICH WE ARE, OUR THIRD GRADERS ARE PERFORMING AT THE ALMOST THE EXACT SAME LEVEL THAT THEY WERE PRE-PANDEMIC IN 2019.

AND THEN IN FOURTH GRADE MATH, THERE ARE 12 PERCENT ABOVE WHERE THEY WERE IN 2019 AT THE SAME TIME AND IN FIFTH GRADE, 16 PERCENT ABOVE WHERE THEY WERE 2019 AT THE SAME TIME.

THAT'S AMAZING, THANK YOU.

YES, MA'AM. THANK YOU, TRUSTEE DAVIS, ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD OR ANY COMMENTS? OK, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION THIS EVENING.

[9.0 Consent Agenda]

THIS NOW MOVES US TO OUR CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS, ARE THERE ANY CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS THAT A BOARD MEMBER MIGHT HAVE QUESTIONS OR WOULD LIKE REMOVE FOR THE AGENDA FOR FURTHER CONSIDERATION? IF THERE'S NO QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS, IS THERE A MOTION, I RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR A MOTION TRUSTEE ROBINSON.

IS THERE A SECOND? I'LL SECOND.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SECOND VICE PRESIDENT GRASSIA.

ALL RIGHT. MOVE TO VOTE, PLEASE.

ALL RIGHT. MOVE TO VOTE BY A SHOW OF HANDS.

ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HANDS, PLEASE.

THE MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

[10.0 Consideration and Possible Action Item (s)]

THIS NOW BRINGS US TO AGENDA AND OUR CONSIDERATION OF POSSIBLE ACTION ITEMS. AGENDA ITEM TEN POINT ONE.

2022-2023 CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT, BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION MR. KIRCHNER. THANK YOU, DR.

HALL, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND. OUR NEXT TWO ITEMS ARE RELATED TO APPRAISAL DISTRICTS, BUT WE'RE STARTING WITH THE CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT.

AND IF YOU'LL SEE THERE IN YOUR EXHIBITS, THE CROWLEY ISD BOARD IS ENTITLED TO A TOTAL OF 14 VOTES.

VOTES MAY BE CAST FOR ONE CANDIDATE OR DIVIDED BETWEEN TWO OR DIVIDED FOR TWO OR MORE CANDIDATES, AND THESE WILL BE DUE BY DECEMBER 15 TO CAD.

SO WE DO NEED TO TAKE ACTION TONIGHT IF THE BOARD CHOOSES TO DO SO, AND SO YOU WILL SEE THE BIOS IN THERE FOR THE CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT.

I BELIEVE THERE ARE SEVEN NAMES LISTED THERE FOR YOU TO REVIEW IN YOUR EXHIBITS.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? IS THAT YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY.

UM. YOU MEAN THE JOHNSON JOHNSON CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT? IS THIS JOHNSON COUNTY? THEY CALLED IT. THEY CALL IT THE CENTRAL.

I THINK ENCOMPASSES SEVERAL.

MR. KIRCHER, ARE WE REQUIRED TO MAKE OUR DECISION TONIGHT, ARE WE? DO WE HAVE TIME TO MAKE THAT DECISION AT OUR NEXT BOARD MEETING? SO THE DEADLINE FOR CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT IS DECEMBER 15TH AND SO MS. MONTALVO. I DON'T HAVE MY CALENDAR IN FRONT OF ME.

I THINK OUR DECEMBER BOARD MS. 16TH. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR RECOMMENDATIONS OR COMMENTARY FROM THE BOARD?

[01:25:01]

I DON'T THINK ANY OF US PROBABLY KNOW ANY OF THESE FOLKS.

AND UNLESS SOMEBODY DOES AND WE GET 14 VOTES IN JOHNSON COUNTY, WHICH EQUATES TO PROBABLY ABOUT NOTHING. SO THERE'S SUCH A SMALL LITTLE FRACTION THERE.

I I WOULDN'T I WOULD NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY ACTION ON THIS UNLESS ANYBODY KNOWS OF ANY OF THESE CANDIDATES SPECIFICALLY.

OK, SO IS THAT A MOTION? YES, I WOULD MOVE THAT WE TABLE IT INDEFINITELY.

I DON'T KNOW. NOT CAST VOTES.

SO WHAT I HEAR YOU SAYING, POSSIBLY, IS THAT YOU MAY BE SUGGESTING A A MOTION THAT WE NOT CAST A VOTE FOR THE CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE CANDIDATES. IS THAT MY UNDERSTANDING YOU CORRECTLY? YEAH, THAT'S THAT WOULD BE MY POSITION AT THIS POINT.

SO IS THAT A MOTION? BUT YES. YES, MA'AM, I WOULD SO MOVE UNLESS.

WOULD YOU MAKE A FORMAL MOTION FOR ME, TRUSTEE, WRIGHT? I WOULD MOVE THAT.

I'M SORRY, I'M.

NEVER BEEN MORE LIVID IN ONE OF THESE MEETINGS IN MY LIFE, BUT UM I WOULD MAKE A MOTION THAT WE NOT NOT CAST ANY ANY OF OUR VOTES IN THE JOHNSON COUNTY CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION.

OK. WE HAVE A MOTION TO NOT CAST VOTES FOR THE CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION.

IS THERE A SECOND? I'LL SECOND. WE HAVE A SECOND FROM VICE PRESIDENT GRASSIA.

MOVE TO VOTE.

ARE WE STILL VOTING FOR OUR SHOW OF HANDS? ARE WE SO OK? OK, WAIT, LET'S SEE IF.

THE MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

THIS BRINGS US TO AGENDA ITEM TEN POINT TWO, WHICH IS THE 2022-2023 TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION.

MR. KIRCHER, I'M SORRY.

THANK YOU, MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND DR.

MCFARLAND. THIS IS TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND CROWLEY ISD IS ENTITLED TO A TOTAL OF 125 VOTES FOR THIS SELECTION.

YOU WILL SEE A LIST OF THE CANDIDATES THERE AND THEIR BIOS AND INFORMATION ABOUT THIS.

THIS DOES ALSO HAVE THE SAME DEADLINE OF DECEMBER 15TH.

SO IF THE BOARD WOULD LIKE TO PLACE ANY VOTES, THAT WOULD ACTUALLY NEED TO BE TAKEN TONIGHT AT YOUR PLEASURE.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THE SELECTION FOR THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT? YES, MA'AM.

AS YOU KNOW, EVERYONE ON THE DAIS, I'M SURE IS AWARE WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING IS IS ARGUE ABOUT APPRAISAL VALUES WITH, YOU KNOW, CHIEFLY AT THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE.

BUT YOU KNOW, I URGE THIS BOARD TO CAST THEIR VOTES FOR GARY LASORDA TWO YEARS AGO WHEN HE RAN. I DIDN'T REALLY KNOW MUCH ABOUT WHAT HE WOULD DO ON THE BOARD, BUT I DID KNOW THAT FOR SIX YEARS I BELIEVE HE SERVED ON THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT OR APPRAISAL REVIEW BOARD, WHICH FOR THOSE YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, WHO KNOW IS, YOU KNOW, KIND OF A QUASI JUDICIAL BODY THAT THAT HEARS APPEALS FROM THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT AND AND DURING THAT TIME, I ALWAYS FOUND GARY TO BE VERY FAIR AND THERE ARE SOMETIMES ME, YOU SOME OF YOU MAY KNOW I, I TEND TO GET A LITTLE A LITTLE UPSET SOMETIMES.

AND, YOU KNOW, I ALWAYS KNEW WHEN I WALKED INTO THE ROOM THAT GARY SEEING HIM THERE, THAT IT WAS PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BE, YOU KNOW, AN AWFUL DAY WOULDN'T FEEL LIKE I'M ABOUT TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK.

THE THE.

AT ANY RATE, THE.

UM, GARY HAS SINCE HE'S BEEN ON THE BOARD THE LAST TWO YEARS, I THINK IS DONE, HAS DONE A GREAT JOB WHEN IT COMES TO TRANSPARENCY ON THE BOARD AS AS I THINK HE MENTIONED BEFORE

[01:30:07]

AND JUST MAKING SURE THAT THE BOARD IS MORE TAXPAYER FRIENDLY OR THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT IS MORE TAXPAYER FRIENDLY.

I THINK, YOU KNOW, THE CHIEF APPRAISER LIVES IN BURLESON AND THEY SEE HIM AT ATWOOD'S EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND STUFF.

AND HE'S A NICE GUY. BUT SOME OF THE FOLKS OVER THERE ARE NOT REALLY VERY BIG FANS OF TAXPAYERS AND AND I FEEL LIKE GARY HAS WORKED TO KIND OF TO RECTIFY THAT.

SO I'M SORRY, THE KIND OF BLATANTLY RACIST COMMENT I HEARD EARLIER JUST REALLY HAS SET ME OFF. BUT THE I WOULD URGE THAT WE CAST OUR VOTES FOR GARY LASORDA ALL ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE VOTES. I'LL MAKE THAT MOTION, BUT I OBVIOUSLY I'M THE FIRST ONE TO SPEAK.

SO IF ANYBODY ELSE WANTS TO SPEAK UP.

SO I DO HAVE A QUESTION.

AND MAYBE THIS IS FOR MR. LASORDA, I'M NOT SURE OR TRUSTEE, WRIGHT YOU CAN ANSWER THE QUESTION.

OF THE NOMINEES THAT ARE LISTED HERE.

WHO OF THEM ARE INCUMBENTS? THAT I DON'T KNOW, I THINK MR. POMPA, MAYBE AND AND BUT I'M NOT CERTAIN THERE ARE YEAH, GARY, YEAH, IT'S PROBABLY BETTER TO ANSWER IN THIS THAN I AM. I'D BE HAPPY TO ANSWER THAT.

MR. DIAT IS AN INCUMBENT.

I'M AN INCUMBENT, MR. MARTINEZ IS AN INCUMBENT, MR POMPA IS AN INCUMBENT AND MS. WILDMAN, SO THERE'D BE FIVE OF US.

THAT WE'RE INCUMBENTS.

COULD I MAKE A COMMENT NOT TO DISAGREE WITH WHAT JUST WAS SAID, BUT THE DEFINITION OF GETTING ALL OF THE VOTES IN BY THE 15TH OF DECEMBER HAS BEEN INTERPRETED BY THE CHIEF APPRAISER TO MEAN ON OR BEFORE THE 15TH OF DECEMBER.

SO YOU REALLY NEED TO GET IN BY THE 14TH.

SO I WOULD REALLY WANT YOUR VOTES TO BE COUNTED.

SO I THOUGHT I CLARIFY THAT FOR YOU.

THANK YOU, MR. LOZADA.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD, TRUSTEE MAYFIELD? I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THEY'RE THREE INDIVIDUALS THAT I'M FAMILIAR WITH ON THIS LIST, AND ONE OF THEM IS JIM AUSTIN.

OVER THE YEARS, I'VE I'VE WORKED WITH HIM.

I KNOW HIM AND HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY, HIS HIS WORK AND, YOU KNOW, COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE. SO I SUPPORT HIM.

AND WHAT I'VE HEARD, YOU KNOW, I TRUST MY BOARD COLLEAGUE WITH HIS DECISION AS WELL, SO I ALSO WANT TO ADD JIM AUSTIN FOR SOME VOTES TO BE CAST FOR HIM AS WELL.

OK, THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS TRUSTEE MAYFIELD.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD? I'M GOING TO ASK TRUSTEE DAVIS A QUESTION.

PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAP.

IN PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE I KNOW THAT WE'VE IN MY TENURE, WE'VE CAST ALL OUR VOTES FOR ONE CANDIDATE. HOW DO HOW WE DETERMINE HOW WE SPLIT THEM, IF THAT'S IF THAT'S GOING TO BE A POSSIBLE MOTION? YOU'RE RIGHT, WE HAVE CAST THEM FOR ALL, ALL OF OUR VOTES, BUT IT'S ALSO POSSIBLE TO DIVIDE THEM AND WE DETERMINE WHAT THAT DIVISION IS I THINK.

IT'S JUST WHATEVER WE CHOOSE.

YEAH, WE COULD ALL TAKE TWENTY ONE VOTES AND CAST THEM OR WHATEVER SOMEBODY GETS OR WE WANT TO DO IT. OK, GOTCHA.

AND ARE THERE ANY OTHER CANDIDATES FROM WHAT I HEAR NOW? I HEAR THAT THERE'S SOME CONSIDERATION FOR JIM AUSTIN AND SOME CONSIDERATION FOR GARY LOZADA. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE? AND I KNOW INAUDIBLE] AND HAVE KNOWN [INAUDIBLE] FOR A LONG TIME NOW.

IF WE'RE CHANGING IT UP AND NOTHING AGAINST MR. LASORDA, I PERSONALLY KNOW HIM.

BUT I DO KNOW [INAUDIBLE] AND HAVE FOR SOME TIME AND I DO KNOW JIM AUSTIN AS WELL.

BUT IF I WAS TO HAVE MY VOTES, I WOULD PROBABLY PUT MY MY VOTES TOWARDS [INAUDIBLE].

OK, SO I GUESS WE CAN DO THIS A COUPLE OF WAYS, AND Y'ALL CAN CERTAINLY SUGGEST HOW YOU LIKE TO DO THEM. WE GET EACH HAVE INDIVIDUAL VOTES AND DECIDE HOW WE WOULD LIKE TO ALLOCATE THEM, OR WE CAN JUST ALLOCATE THEM AS A BOARD.

AT THIS POINT, WE HAVE 125 VOTES.

[01:35:03]

THAT'S OBVIOUSLY NOT DIVISIBLE BY THREE.

SO THAT WOULD BE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 42 OR 42 AND 41, I THINK, OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD POST-PANDEMIC MATH.

HOW WOULD YOU ALL LIKE TO? IS THERE A A MOTION OR DOES ANYONE HAVE A SUGGESTION OR RECOMMENDATION ON HOW THEY WOULD LIKE TO DIVIDE THE VOTES? THE THING I'D SAY IS THAT I THINK I CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND AND I LIKE GENGHIS.

YOU KNOW, WE SERVED ON THE FORT WORTH, A LOT OF THESE FOLKS.

AND THE REASON THAT I THINK, YOU KNOW, ONE REASON THAT NO ONE'S REALLY COME HERE OR REALLY ACTIVELY SOUGHT OUR SUPPORT IS BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, EACH OF THE TAXING ENTITIES GETS A CERTAIN NUMBER OF VOTES, SO THE CITY OF FORT WORTH GETS SIX HUNDRED VOTES OR WHATEVER.

THE FORT WORTH ISD GETS SO MANY VOTES, TARRANT COUNTY GETS SO MANY VOTES.

CROWLEY ISD.

WE CERTAINLY GET A HIGHER PROPORTION THAN WE DO IN JOHNSON COUNTY, BUT WE STILL HAVE A RELATIVELY SMALL NUMBER OF VOTES, MIDSIZE NUMBER, I GUESS.

AND A LOT OF THESE CANDIDATES REALLY HAVE ONE ENTITY KIND OF IN THEIR POCKET, YOU KNOW, SOMEBODY WHO IS A FORMER MEMBER OF A BOARD AND THEY GO AND THEY'RE GOING TO EXPECT TO GET THOSE VOTES, SOMEONE WHO'S FRIENDS WITH, YOU KNOW, OR WHATEVER.

AND YOU KNOW, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, AND THEY'RE GOING TO GET THOSE VOTES. SO YOU'VE KIND OF GOT THESE SO WEIRD VOTING SYSTEM AND YOU'VE GOT PEOPLE WITH THESE, THESE DIFFERENT CONSTITUENCIES.

AND I THINK THAT'S ONE REASON, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE HAVE LINED UP VOTES THAT BUT I DON'T KNOW, I GUESS THE MY WE CAN CAST IT KIND OF AT THE PLEASURE OF THE BOARD, I JUST, YOU KNOW, I KNOW GARY'S BEEN SERVING ON THE BOARD AND HAS DONE A GOOD JOB.

AND REALLY FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE, GETTING ON THIS BOARD IS SOMETHING JUST TO DO AND NOT SOMETHING THAT THEY REALLY ARE ACTIVELY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT AND HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN.

AND THAT'S WHY, YOU KNOW, I'M MORE SUPPORTIVE OF GARY, BUT WHO'S ACTUALLY BEEN INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS. BUT I'LL LEAVE IT TO THE PLEASURE OF THE BOARD, I GUESS.

SO WHEN I HEAR YOU? GO AHEAD.

TRUSTEE DAVIS IF I'M UNDERSTANDING YOU MR. WRIGHT, I THINK MY FEELINGS ARE HURT.

DID YOU SAY THAT THAT THE REASON SOME OF THE OTHERS DIDN'T COME AND TALK TO US IS BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THAT MANY VOTES.

SO THEY'RE THEY'RE MORE INTERESTED IN THE ONES WITH THE HIGHER NUMBER OF VOTES.

SO THEY'RE DISCOUNTING US.

A LOT OF THEM VOTES ADD UP.

I'M NOT SURE. OH NO, THEY DO.

THEY ABSOLUTELY DO. AND THAT'S, YOU KNOW, THAT'S WHAT YOU KNOW.

I KNOW GARY IN THE LAST ELECTION KIND OF GOT SOME OF THE SMALLER OR MID-SIZED ENTITIES KIND OF COBBLED TOGETHER A COALITION THAT ULTIMATELY GOT HIM THE VOTES.

YOU KNOW, SOME SOME WILL JUST GO TO, YOU KNOW, TARRANT COUNTY OR FORT WORTH ISD, FORT WORTH, THE CITY OF FORT WORTH AND TARRANT COUNTY.

THEY GENERALLY KIND OF A LOT OF TIMES KIND OF SEAL THE DEAL ON THESE THINGS, AND I'M KIND OF RAMBLING A LITTLE BIT.

SO I MEAN, DON'T DON'T THINK WHAT I'M SAYING.

SO IN THE SAME VEIN OF WHAT TRUSTEE DAVIS, I THINK IN THE SAME VEIN OF WHAT YOU'RE SAYING. SO WHAT I HEAR YOU SAYING IS THAT WE SHOULDN'T DILUTE OUR ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE VOTES. THAT IS, IN YOUR OPINION, I WOULD PREFER NOT TO.

BUT, YOU KNOW, I'M NOT GOING TO TELL ANYBODY THAT YOU KNOW WHAT TO SUPPORT.

SO I THINK AT THIS POINT, WE KNOW WHAT THE OPTIONS ARE.

AND I THINK IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS AT THIS TIME? IF NOT, THEN I WOULD JUST OPEN THE FLOOR FOR A MOTION.

I WOULD MOVE TO CAST SEVENTY FIVE VOTES FOR GARY LOZADA, TWENTY FIVE VOTES FOR JIM AUSTIN AND TWENTY FIVE VOTES FOR [INAUDIBLE] JORDAN, WE HAVE A MOTION TO CAST.

SEVENTY FIVE VOTES FOR GARY LOZADA.

TWENTY FIVE VOTES FOR JIM AUSTIN AND 25 VOTES FOR [INAUDIBLE] JORDAN.

IS THERE A SECOND? IF THERE'S NO SECOND, THEN THE MOTION FAILS, IS THERE ANOTHER MOTION? I HAVE A DISCUSSION QUESTION.

SO FAR. DO WE NOT WANT TO JUST SPLIT THE VOTE EQUITABLY? THREE WAYS.

YOU'RE CERTAINLY WELCOME TO MAKE A MOTION.

IT HAVE TO BE FORTY TWO, FORTY TWO, FORTY ONE, BUT SHE'S A MATH SPECIALIST, SHE KNOWS I

[01:40:02]

HAVE FORTY ONE POINT SIX.

I MAKE THE MOTION THAT WE ALLOCATE FORTY TWO VOTES TOWARDS GARY LOSADA, FORTY TWO TO JIM AUSTIN AND FORTY ONE TO THE [INAUDIBLE] JORDAN.

WE HAVE A MOTION TO AWARD 42 VOTES TO GARY LOSADA AND FORTY TWO VOTES TO JIM AUSTIN AND FORTY ONE VOTES TO [INAUDIBLE] JORDAN.

IS THERE A SECOND? I'LL SECOND. WE HAVE A SECOND.

MOVE TO VOTE.

THE MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

THIS NOW BRINGS US TO OUR FUTURE ACTION ISLANDS AGENDA ITEM ELEVEN POINT ONE BOARD POLICY

[11.0 Future Action Item(s)]

UPDATE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN DR.

MCFARLAND. MADAM PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS, MS. [INAUDIBLE] IS PREPARED TO ADDRESS THIS ITEM.

MS. [INAUDIBLE]. THANK YOU, SIR. GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT DR.

HALL, DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND SUPERINTENDENT DR.

MCFARLAND. THIS EVENING, I PRESENT TO YOU AS A FUTURE ACTION ITEM UPDATE 118 THAT ALIGNS TO GOAL ONE, THRIVING STUDENTS.

GOAL TWO, ENGAGE COMMUNITY AND GOAL THREE, EMPOWERED STAFF.

AS YOU KNOW, UPDATE 118 ENCOMPASSES CHANGES IN THE LAW FROM THE 87TH LEGISLATIVE SESSION THAT, AS WE ALL KNOW, IS RELEASED IN ORDER TO HELP US TO GOVERN AND MANAGE OUR DISTRICT.

SO I'VE PUT IN PARENTHESES THERE THAT THERE ARE 12 LOCAL POLICIES THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN REVIEW THERE.

THERE, OF COURSE, FOR US TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO AS ADMINISTRATORS AND THE BOARD, WE MUST REFLECT THE PRACTICES OF THE DISTRICT AND THE INTENTIONS OF OUR BOARD.

AND IT'S MORE IMPORTANT FOR US TO KNOW THAT THEY MAY ONLY BE CHANGED BY BOARD ACTION THAT OF ADOPTING, REVISING OR REPEALING.

ON THE RIGHT SIDE, WE HAVE 120 LEGAL POLICIES THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR, SOME OF WHICH HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO FILTER INTO THE DISTRICT.

THEY REFLECT THE EVER CHANGING LEGAL CONTEXT FOR GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF OUR DISTRICT. THEY INFORM OUR LOCAL DECISION MAKING POLICIES AND SHOULD NOT BE ADOPTED, BUT ARE ONLY REVIEWED.

SO THE LOCAL POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING OVERARCHING TOPICS.

THEY ARE ACTIVITY FUNDS, CYBERSECURITY, RESIGNATIONS BY CONTRACT EMPLOYEES, SCHOOL COUNSELOR DUTIES, HUMAN SEXUALITY INSTRUCTION, ACCELERATION INSTRUCTION AND RETENTION AND PROMOTION, SCHOOL SAFETY TRANSFERS, CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT AND STUDENT RECORDS.

SO, BOARD, I WILL KINDLY JUST REMIND YOU THAT WE FOLLOW THE SAME PROCESS IN YOUR EXHIBITS, YOU HAVE YOUR VANTAGE POINTS, POLICY COMPARISON INFORMATION, YOUR EXPLANATORY NOTES AND OF COURSE, THE INSTRUCTIONS SHEETS THAT ARE THERE FOR YOUR REVIEW.

JUST TO KIND OF GIVE YOU AN OVERARCHING AS TO WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE'RE GOING AND UPDATE ONE 18, WE RELEASED IT ON NOVEMBER 5TH.

WE HAVE OUR EXPERTS IN THE DISTRICT, OUR CHIEFS, OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS AND DIRECTORS WHO HAVE PUT TOGETHER COMMITTEES AND ARE WORKING.

NOW THEY'RE TRYING TO DECIDE, DO WE ADOPT THE POLICY NUMBER ONE AS WRITTEN OR DO WE ADOPT POLICY AS WRITTEN WITH THE EXEMPTION OF DO WE CONSIDER ADOPTING THE POLICY AS WRITTEN WITH THE ADDITION OF.

FOUR, DO WE ADOPT NEW POLICY SEEKING TASB SAMPLES AND FIVE OR FIVE.

NO NEW POLICY NEEDED.

THE LEGAL POLICIES WILL BE UPDATED AUTOMATICALLY.

LOCAL POLICY RECOMMENDATION CHARTS ARE DUE, OUR STAFF KNOWS ON DECEMBER 10TH.

TODAY, I PRESENT TO YOU AS A FUTURE ACTION ITEM AND IT WILL THEN BE PRESENTED TO YOU BOARD ON DECEMBER 16TH AS AN ACTION ITEM.

THEREFORE, THIS CONCLUDES MY PRESENTATION.

I WELCOME ANY QUESTIONS AT THIS TIME.

THANK YOU, MS. [INAUDIBLE].

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD AT THIS TIME REGARDING A POLICY UPDATE 118? I JUST WANTED TO CLARIFY, AND YOU DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF THAT, THAT OUR LEGAL POLICY, IT'S NOT THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO ADOPT IT, BUT THAT IT'S STATUTE.

IT'S DRIVEN BY STATUTE.

SO WE NEED NOT THE BOARD NEED NOT TAKE ACTION BECAUSE IT IS AUTOMATICALLY INTO EFFECT THROUGH OUR LEGISLATION AND OUR LOCAL POLICIES.

WE DO HAVE TO RATIFY, IF YOU WILL.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CLARIFICATION.

THANK YOU, MS. [INAUDIBLE] ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? ALL RIGHT. THE FUTURE ACTION ITEM, AND WE WILL DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS THAT WE HAVE IN THE

[01:45:01]
