ON TUESDAY THEY WILL RIP OUT OF STATE SCHOOLS.

ALL OF THOSE OUTSIDE OF TEXAS.

WEDNESDAY THEY WILL CELEBRATE GREEK ORGANIZATIONS AND OR HBCUS.

THURSDAY THE STUDENTS WILL WEAR THE COLORS OF THEIR TEACHER'S COLLEGE.

THAT SHOULD BE INTERESTING, AND ON FRIDAY THEY WILL DRESS FOR THEIR FUTURE PROFESSIONS.

THAT SHOULD BE A REALLY INCREDIBLE WEEK.

THERE IS NO LIMIT TO WHAT THEY CAN DO, AND THEY ARE THE HUSKY, SO GO HUSKIES.

FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 12TH, CMS HAD AN AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE PERCENTAGE OF 96.82 PERCENT.

WE HAD A SPECIAL GUEST IN THE DISTRICT ON THIS WEEK, AND SO BEST PRACTICES WERE ON DISPLAY ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH AS REPRESENTATIVES [NOISE] FROM THE CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICERS' COUNCIL OF THE TEA TOWARD MEADOWCREEK AND DEER CREEK ELEMENTARIES TO OBSERVE INSTRUCTION AT ITS BEST.

THE INFORMATION LEARNED WILL HELP DISTRICTS IN 10 REGIONS ACROSS THE STATE.

THAT IS CERTAINLY SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF HERE IN CROWLEY ISD.

SEPTEMBER 19TH THROUGH THE 25TH IS DEAF AWARENESS WEEK IN CROWLEY ISD AND WE STRIVE TO BE INCLUSIVE OF ALL STUDENTS, ALL PARENTS, AND ALL STAKEHOLDERS WITH ALL LEVELS OF HEARING LOSS.

TO THE 38 LEARNERS WHOM WE SERVE, WE SALUTE YOU TONIGHT.

>> MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, AND DR. WRIGHT, WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT TONIGHT SUPERINTENDENT REPORT PROVING THE CASE HERE IN CROWLEY ISD THAT DIVERSITY AND EXCELLENCE ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.

MEANS THAT WE ARE ENSURING THAT EVERY STUDENT IN OUR SCHOOLS, EVERY STUDENT IS EXPOSED TO THE ENDLESS CAREER OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO THEM REGARDLESS OF THEIR ECONOMIC BACKGROUND, THEIR ETHNICITY, OR THEIR GENDER, BECAUSE IN CROWLEY ISD, ALL MEANS ALL.

WHAT WE ALSO KNOW THOUGH, IS THAT ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL, FEMALES ARE TYPICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED IN THE AVIATION INDUSTRY.

BUT JOINING US TONIGHT ARE TWO OF OUR PTEC LEADERS WHO ARE CHANGING THE NARRATIVE.

IN PREVIOUS MEETINGS, WE'VE SHARED CHARTS, METRICS, AND NUMBERS, BUT TONIGHT WE WANT TO SHOW YOU THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE DATA.

MS. KIMBERLY RICK AND MS. NIKISHA KIRK ARE JOINING US TO SHOW SOME OF THE TANGIBLE EVIDENCE OF OUR BOARD'S COMMITMENT TO CROWLEY ISD'S MISSION OF PROVIDING OUR STUDENTS WITH EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION SO THAT ALL STUDENTS ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.

THIS IS KIRK, OUR PTEC COUNSELOR, AND I ARE HERE TONIGHT TO BRIEFLY TALK ABOUT THE CROWLEY ACADEMY OF AVIATION, TRANSPORTATION, AND LOGISTICS.

THIS PTEC ACADEMY IS A FORM OF EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL AND WE CURRENTLY ENCOMPASS FIVE PROGRAMS OF STUDY, AVIATION MAINTENANCE, AVIATION FLIGHT, UAV, COMPUTER PROGRAMMING, AND DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS.

YOU SHOULD HAVE AN INFORMATIONAL CARD UP AT YOUR STATIONS THERE SO THAT YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN EACH PROGRAM.

WE HAVE BEEN BUSILY RECRUITING FOR THE PROGRAMS TRYING TO INFORM OUR CROWLEY ISD STUDENTS AND PARENTS ABOUT THE AMAZING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS IN OUR DISTRICT.

ADDITIONALLY, WE WANTED TO ENSURE THAT THIS YEAR WE REALLY FOCUS ON FEMALES IN THESE HIGH-DEMAND, HIGH-WAGE STEM CAREER AREAS.

WE WANT TO MATCH STUDENTS WITH THE BEST PATHWAY FOR EACH OF THEM.

WE'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR INNOVATIVE AND EXCITING WAYS TO INTRODUCE FEMALES TO THESE CAREER FIELDS.

WITH THAT IN MIND, MRS. KIRK.

>> THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, MS. RICK AND I ARE TAKING 20-25 GIRLS FROM MY MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TO GIRLS IN AVIATION DALLAS DAY AT THE HENRY B. TIPPIE NATIONAL AVIATION EDUCATION CENTER, SPONSORED BY WOMEN IN AVIATION.

THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE EXPOSURE AND EXPERIENCE TO UP AVIATION OUTSIDE OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY.

WE WANT TO CHALLENGE THE GIRLS TO THINK BEYOND THE TRADITIONAL FEMALE CAREER ROLES.

WE ARE HOPING THAT THROUGH THE FIELD TRIPS LIKE GIRLS IN AVIATION AND OTHER EVENTS THAT WE EXPAND FEMALE PARTICIPATION IN AVIATION PROGRAMS. WE PLAN TO HAVE A GIRLS IN AVIATION DAY HERE IN CROWLEY, AND WE WILL START OUR OWN GIRLS AVIATION STEM GROUP.

CONTINUING TO SUPPORT AND GROW ALL OF OUR CROWLEY ISD GIRLS, INTO SUCCESSFUL AND FULFILLING CAREERS OF THE FUTURE.

AT THE EVENT, WE WILL HAVE OUR GUEST SPEAKER, STEPHANIE CHUNG, OUR VERY OWN NATIVE OF DALLAS, TEXAS.

SHE WAS THE FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENT IN PRIVATE AVIATION AND CURRENT THE CHIEF GROWTH OFFICER OF WHEELS UP. IN CONCLUSION.

>> JUST TO SUMMARIZE, THE GIRLS IN AVIATION EVENT IS JUST OUR FIRST STEP IN FORMING OUR OWN GIRLS GROUP OF THE FUTURE.

WE'RE HOPING THAT BY DOING SO, WE'RE PLANNING TO GIVE THE STUDENTS EXPOSURE TO INDUSTRY-RELATED CAREERS AND OPPORTUNITIES, BECOME A PART OF A NETWORK OF PEOPLE WHO WILL ASSIST THEM IN FINDING INTERNSHIPS, MENTORSHIPS, AND SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.

THIRDLY, WE WANT TO PROVIDE OUR GIRLS WITH THE TRAINING AND AVENUES NEEDED TO ENTER INTO THOSE HIGH-WAGE CAREER FIELDS WHICH HAVE ENORMOUS GROWTH POTENTIAL, THUS PAVING THE WAY FOR THEIR SUCCESSFUL FUTURES.

ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING SUPPORT THAT YOU'VE ALWAYS GIVEN SEATTLE AND OUR CTE PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME TONIGHT AND COMMUNICATE OUR VISION OF PROJECTS JUST BEGINNING.

WHAT THEY DID WAS THEY HAD A TALK WITH THEIR STUDENTS AT THEIR SCHOOL, AND THEY IDENTIFY FIVE EIGHTH-GRADE GIRLS FROM THEIR MIDDLE SCHOOL THAT WANTED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT AVIATION.

WE ALSO TOOK STUDENTS FROM OUR CURRENT SEATTLE PROGRAM AT THE CTE CENTER.

>> THE PARENTS KNOW ABOUT THIS AND THEIR PARTICIPATION?

I DO NOT KNOW IF YOU HAVE HEARD OF ADA, BUT SHE IS INCREDIBLE, AND ALL OF OUR STUDENTS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WILL HAVE LESSONS BASED ON HER BOOKS.

IF WE LOOK AT COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS AND OUR DISTRICT, ON THE LAST STATE ACCOUNTABILITY, WE RECEIVED 91 OUT OF 100 POINTS DUE TO THE HARD WORK OF OUR CAMPUSES.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES ON THAT RATING.

THE JOURNEY TO COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS DOES NOT START IN HIGH SCHOOL, BUT IT IS A CONTINUUM ALL THE WAY FROM PRE-K WITH BENCHMARKS THROUGHOUT A STUDENT'S JOURNEY THROUGH OUR SCHOOLS.

CURRENTLY THIS YEAR WE HAVE 828 STUDENTS THAT ARE ENROLLED IN PRE-K 4.

THIS IS AN INCREASE FROM PREVIOUS YEARS.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS.

IN 2019/'20, 42.9 PERCENT OF OUR STUDENTS ENTERED KINDERGARTEN, READY FOR KINDERGARTEN.

ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES ARE IMPLEMENTING AVID.

AVID IS A SET OF STRATEGIES THAT STUDENTS CAN USE TO INCREASE THEIR SKILL LEVEL AND BECOMING POST-SECONDARY READY.

WE ALSO ON THE JOURNEY LOOK AT ELEMENTARY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, AND IN PARTICULAR, THERE ARE TWO TESTS THAT WE KNOW ARE IN AN INDICATION OF WHERE STUDENTS ARE ON THEIR JOURNEY.

ONE IS THIRD-GRADE READING, THE OTHER'S FOURTH-GRADE MATH, AND THE PERCENTAGES YOU SEE HERE FROM OUR LATEST STATE ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT INDICATE THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WHO WERE ON GRADE LEVEL ON THESE TWO TESTS.

THEN WHEN WE MOVE TO MIDDLE SCHOOL, WE LOOK AT EIGHTH-GRADE SCIENCE AND ALGEBRA 1, AND AGAIN, THIS IS THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WHO WERE ON GRADE LEVEL IN THOSE TWO SUBJECT AREAS.

THEN WE MOVE TO CULTURE AND COLLEGE READINESS.

WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE IN OUR DISTRICT? WE LOOKED AT ACADEMICS, NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT CULTURE.

MIDDLE SCHOOL, WE HAVE A SIXTH-GRADE CCMR CLASS THAT ALL STUDENTS TAKE THAT INTRODUCES THEM TO THE DIFFERENT ADVANCED ACADEMICS, TO COLLEGE READINESS SKILLS.

THEY BECOME COLLEGE AWARE, AS WELL AS CAREER PATHWAYS.

AVID IS ALSO IMPLEMENTED AT MIDDLE SCHOOL.

AT OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS, WE HAVE A VARIETY OF COURSES TO START THEM ON THEIR JOURNEY, BOTH IN PRE-API FOR ADVANCED ACADEMICS, AND THEN SEVERAL CTE CLASSES THAT THEY CAN TAKE FOR HIGH-SCHOOL CREDIT TO START ON THEIR JOURNEY FOR THEIR PROGRAM OF STUDY.

WE ALSO HAVE AN ENDORSEMENT NIGHT WHERE STUDENTS CHOOSE THEIR HIGH-SCHOOL= PATHWAY AND WE TELL THEM THE DIFFERENT COURSES THEY NEED TO TAKE TO STAY ON THAT JOURNEY.

THEN THIS YEAR, WE HAVE CCMR ADVISORS AT EACH MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS THAT ARE WORKING WITH OUR PARENTS AND OUR STUDENTS,

COLLEGE READY; LOOKING AT COLLEGE APPLICATIONS, AND STARTING WITH NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL, THIS WAS LAST YEAR SENIOR CLASS, 82 PERCENT OF STUDENTS COMPLETED AT LEAST ONE COLLEGE APPLICATION, AND YOU SEE GOING DOWN 3 5, HOW MANY APPLIED TO A TWO-YEAR COLLEGE OR A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE.

LOOKING AT CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL, 73 PERCENT OF THE SENIOR CLASS COMPLETED AT LEAST ONE COLLEGE APPLICATION.

HIGH-SCHOOL GRADUATION.

OUR GRADUATION RATE ON OUR TEXAS ACCOUNTABILITY WAS 92.8 PERCENT FOR CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL AND 96.2 PERCENT FOR NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

THEN FINALLY, COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES AND SCHOLARSHIPS.

AT NORTH CROWLEY LAST YEAR, 67 PERCENT OF OUR STUDENTS COMPLETE THE FASFA.

YOU SEE THE SCHOLARSHIP WAS OVER FOUR MILLION DOLLARS.

SIXTY-FOUR PERCENT OF OUR STUDENTS AT CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETED THE FASFA AND OUR SCHOLARSHIPS WERE 2.8 MILLION.

NOW THIS IS A GOAL FOR US WHEN WE COMPARE OURSELVES SOME FASFA COMPLETION WITH OTHER DISTRICTS THAT HAVE TCU ADVISED, THE AVERAGE IS 70 PERCENT.

WHILE WE HAVE POCKETS AND WE DO DIFFERENT THINGS, WE DON'T HAVE A FORMAL PLAN TO ENSURE EVERY STUDENT IS EXPOSED TO CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, STARTING AT PRE-K AND GOING SYSTEMICALLY ALL THE WAY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL.

THAT IS ONE OF OUR FINDINGS AND ONE OF OUR GOALS THAT WE WILL BE DOING IS WRITING A PLAN OF EVERY FIRST GRADER WILL HEAR THIS, EVERY SECOND GRADER WILL BE EXPOSED TO THIS TO ENSURE ALL KIDS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR MAXIMUM POST-SECONDARY READINESS WHEN WE'RE TALKING CAREERS.

OUR SECOND FINDING WAS THAT WE DO NOT TRACK COLLEGE PERSISTENCE DATA EFFECTIVELY IN OUR DISTRICT.

THIS IS OUR ACTION PLAN TO BEGIN TO FORMERLY TRACK PERSISTENCE DATA AND TO SHARE THAT WITH OUR STAKEHOLDERS IN OUR DISTRICT.

OUR THIRD FINDING WAS, WHILE WE HAVE AVID ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES, WE'RE NOT SURE OF THE IMPACT ON COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS OR POST-SECONDARY READINESS.

IN OUR ELEMENTARY GRADES, WE PARTNER WITH STEM PLUS TO ENSURE THEY ARE AWARE OF A LOT OF DIFFERENT CAREERS AND THAT THEY CAN PARTICIPATE IN THAT CAREER.

THEN ONCE THEY REACH EIGHTH GRADE, WE ASK THEM TO SELECT AN ENDORSEMENT OR A PROGRAM OF STUDY.

BECAUSE THERE'S 85 PERCENT OF STUDENTS HAVE CHROMEBOOKS.

OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION, TO PROMOTE INNOVATION IN TEACHING, TO PARTNER WITH THE COMMUNITY TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF THE EDUCATION FOR EVERY STUDENT IN CROWLEY ISD.

TO THIS END, THIS GRANT CYCLE, WE HAVE AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING ABOUT $33,500.

WE PROVIDED FUNDS FOR SEVERAL DISTRICT-WIDE PROJECTS SUCH AS THE BATTLE OF THE BOOKS, PANTHER OLYMPICS, THE MAKING CONNECTIONS, COMMUNITY DISABILITY FAIR, AND OTHERS.

WE'VE PROVIDED FUNDS TO ALLOW STUDENTS AT ALL LEVELS TO EXPLORE NEW LANGUAGES, TO EXPLORE STEM EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, ENTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND CAMPUS ACTIVITIES THAT ALLOW DIFFERENT STUDENTS OF DIFFERENT AGES AND ABILITIES TO WORK TOGETHER.

SOME REAL INNOVATION WITH OLDER STUDENTS AND YOUNGER STUDENTS WORKING TOGETHER.

ONE NEW GRANT RECIPIENT THIS YEAR THAT WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT IS THE REGIONAL DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR THE DEAF.

EACH OF THE GRANTS MADE THIS YEAR IS INDIVIDUALLY DETAILED IN YOUR MATERIALS THAT ARE PROVIDED.

WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THE ADVENTURES AHEAD FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES THROUGH THE GRANT FUNDS, AND ONE THING KNEW THAT WE'D LIKE TO DO THIS YEAR.
