THE FIFTH GRADE PLAN INVITATION ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 21ST WAS A HUGE SUCCESS.

THE GOAL OF THE EVENT WAS DIVERTED TO RECRUIT INCOMING FIFTH GRADERS TO THE PERFORMING ARTS AND HELP THEM FEEL WELCOME.

STUDENTS FROM THE BOARD ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THAT FIT IN TO HF STEVENS, ENJOYED SINGING AWARD WINNING GUEST, AND THAT THEIR COLTON BLAKE AS THEY GEAR UP WITH A 23, 24 SCHOOL YEAR. [APPLAUSE]

>> FINE. CROWLEY MONTESSORI ACADEMY ENJOYED HAVING THEIR FIRST SET OF AMAZING VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH LUNCH DUTY THIS PAST TUESDAY, THEY WERE 17.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18, THE STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO SEE PARENTS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND ACTIVE MILITARY IN THE CAFETERIA SERVING AND ENTER AT THEM WITH VALID PRODUCT.

OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS FROM 711 ALSO DONATED $711 TO THE CAMPUS AS A WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD. [APPLAUSE]

>> MADAM PRESIDENT, I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT CROWLEY PRIDE UNIFIED WAS ON DISPLAY THROUGH THE STREETS OF DOWNTOWN FOR WORK ON MONDAY, JANUARY 16 IN CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE AND WORK OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JUNIOR, WHO WAS AN ALPHA.

[NOISE] FOOTBALL PLAYERS, COACHES, CHEERLEADERS, SPONSORS AND RJROTC, JOINED THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND SUPERINTENDENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 38TH ANNUAL MLK PARADE AND RALLY.

IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FOR OUR STUDENTS. [APPLAUSE]

>> MADAM PRESIDENT, I ACTUALLY HAVE TWO, IF THAT'S OKAY.

CROWLEY ISD STEM PROGRAM WAS FEATURED IN THE JANUARY 2023 ISSUE OF TEXAS ECOSYSTEM, AN ONLINE PUBLICATION FROM THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY.

THE FEATURE INCLUDED A PICTURE OF OUR SUNDAY IN CROWLEY ISD AND IT'S SHARED A FACT THAT OUR SPECIALISTS ROTATE THROUGH GRADE LEVELS, CO-TEACHING, STIMULATING LESSONS.

[APPLAUSE] ALSO ON LAST SATURDAY, JANUARY 20TH, THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF FORT WORTH HOSTED THEIR FIRST ANNUAL IN HER BOOTH, 5K RUN AND ONE MILE WALK.

I AM THE PROUD CREATOR OF THE EVENT AND I WAS SO PROUD TO HAVE THE SUPPORT OF MY CISD FAMILY PRESENT.

THE WHETHER WAS A LITTLE CHILLY WITH INTERMITTENT RAIN AND EVEN STILL DR. MCFARLAND CAME AND RAN THE 5K.

DOCTOR LEFT AS SOON AS IT WAS OVER AND I UNDERSTAND THAT.

BUT YOU LEFT BEFORE THE AWARD CEREMONY AND WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW IF THAT YOU WON SECOND PLACE IN YOUR AGE-GROUP.

WE CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR FORTITUDE AND DETERMINATION AND LOOK FORWARD TO YOU DOING GREAT THINGS IN THE FUTURE.

I LEARN STUFF ABOUT FINANCIAL LITERACY AND I APPRECIATE YOU BRINGING THIS TO THE TABLE AND HOPING THAT OTHER PEOPLE GAINED KNOWLEDGE AS WELL.

THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR AND MANY OF YOU KNOW ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF CREATING A VISION BOARD, SO I JUST WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU THE POWER OF THAT.

IN THAT I CREATED A VISION BOARD AND I PUT RUN 5K ON MY VISION BOARD, I RAN OUT 5K THANK YOU DR. HALL FOR PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER.

I KNOW IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SCHOOL BUSINESS BUT I THOUGHT I'D SHARE IT.

HE'S A DIGITAL LEARNING SPECIALIST, BUT ALSO IS THE DRIVING FORCE THAT IS PROPELLING ESPORTS FORWARD IN OUR DISTRICT.

HE HAS ORGANIZED THIS PROGRAM FROM THE GROUND UP AND MANAGES ITS APPLICATION AT THE TWO HIGH SCHOOLS AND TWO 9TH GRADE CENTERS.

ESPORTS IS VIDEO GAMING AT THE COMPETITIVE LEVEL, JUST LIKE AT THE TRADITIONAL ATHLETICS AND ACADEMICS EXCEPT VIRTUAL.

WHILE DELIVERY OF THE PROGRAM IS VIDEO GAMING, THERE'S NEW EVIDENCE THAT SHOWS THAT A WELL PLAYED ESPORTS PROGRAM CAN HELP DRIVE THE STEM PROGRAM WITH MANY SKILLS SUCH AS TEAMWORK AND PROBLEM SOLVING, SCIENTIFIC METHODOLOGY, USING DATA AND EVIDENCE, AND AN INCREASED TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE 56 STUDENTS ACTIVE WITH ESPORTS ATHLETES, AND THAT NUMBER KEEPS GROWING.

PLAYING A VARIETY OF SEVEN GAMES IN FOUR DIFFERENT LEAGUE, OUR ROCKET LEAGUE TEAM WHICH IS HERE TODAY QUALIFIED IN JUST OUR SECOND YEAR OF EXISTENCE TO PLAY IN THE VANTA LEAGUE STATE TOURNAMENT, WHICH TOOK PLACE IN DUNCAVILLE IN THE ESPORTS ARENA.

OUT OF 56 TEAMS, VANTA TOOK THE TOP 16 TEAMS WHICH WE PLACE IN, AND WE WON ALL THE MATCHES UP TO THE FINAL FOUR WHICH THEY HELD IN PERSON.

WE CAME UP A LITTLE BIT SHORT BUT THAT LEFT US HUNGRY.

OUR GOAL IS FOR THE SPRING.

NOW, WE'RE GOING TO TAKE ONE TROPHY BACK AND THEN WE'LL SWEEP THE WHOLE THING.

ALL THE HARD WORK AND EVERYTHING THAT HAD COME TOGETHER IN THAT ONE MOMENT, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART WAS CELEBRATING WITH OUR STUDENTS.

WE WENT ON OUR LOUDSPEAKER, WE HAD MUSIC GOING, WE WERE DANCING IN THE HALLWAYS.

WE WENT IN CLASSROOMS AND CHEERED WITH STUDENTS,

I WAS SO PROUD OF EVERY SINGLE PERSON.

I KNEW THAT IT MEANT THAT OUR STUDENTS HAD REACHED THEIR GOAL AND THAT WAS JUST GOING TO DRIVE THEM TO BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES MUCH MORE.

>> IN SPORTS, YOU WORK HARD IN HOPES OF WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

IN EDUCATION, THAT'S THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WE REALLY WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND IT WAS AMAZING FOR THE KIDS TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN ACCOMPLISH NO MATTER WHAT SITUATION, WHAT THEIR HOME LIFE IS.

>> IN 2019, WHICH WAS THE LAST YEAR PRIOR TO THIS, THE ACCOUNTABILITY RATING SHEETS FOR CAMPUSES, DEER CREEK WAS THE RATED CAMPUS AND IN THIS LAST ROUND OF ACCOUNTABILITY RATINGS IN 2022, THEY MOVED UP TO AN A.

THEY MADE NEARLY A 20 POINT JUMP IN THEIR OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING.

IT'S INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE BECAUSE TO DO THAT YOU REALLY HAVE TO OVERHAUL A WHOLE BUNCH OF YOUR SYSTEMS ON YOUR CAMPUS, GET YOUR STAFF TO BUY IN AND REALLY MOVE THE CULTURE FORWARD AS WELL AS INSTRUCTION IN THE CLASSROOM.

>> WHAT WAS THE MOST MISSED, LAST YEAR WE TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO EDUCATION DIFFERENTLY.

WE DECIDED AS A CAMPUS THAT WE WANT TO BE BETTER, AND TO BE BETTER WE HAD TO DO THINGS THAT ARE DIFFERENT, AND NEW AND THROUGH THOSE TRANSPARENT CONVERSATIONS, THROUGH THAT VULNERABILITY OF OPENING OUR CLASSROOM DOORS OF LEARNING FROM EACH OTHER, COLLABORATING AS TEAMS, AND LEADING DIFFERENTLY, WE ARE REALLY ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH BIG THINGS.

WHAT THAT MEANS IS A SCHOOL THAT HAS REALLY SHIFTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY KNOW WHERE EVERY STUDENT IS, THERE'S NO STUDENT GROUPS FALLING THROUGH THE CRACKS.

THERE'S NO INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS WHO AREN'T BEING CARED FOR, AND THAT'S WHAT THAT NUMBER IN THAT JUMP REALLY REPRESENTS.

>> HERE IN DEER CREEK, EVERY CHILD IS IMPORTANT, EVERY CHILD MATTERS AND WE KNOW THAT IT IS IMPORTANT FOR EVERY SINGLE CHILD TO MAKE GROWTH [FOREIGN].

>> WHENEVER WE WOULD HAVE MEETINGS, WE WERE VERY INTENTIONAL ABOUT ENSURING THAT OUR BILINGUAL STUDENTS, OUR SPANISH STUDENTS, EVEN THOSE THAT WERE IN THE MONOLINGUAL PROGRAM, THAT THEY WERE GETTING THE BEST SERVICES TO MEET THEIR GOALS.

EVERY SYSTEM THAT WE HAD AT PLACE, WE MADE SURE THAT WE HAD COLLABORATION WITHIN OUR TEACHERS, WITHIN THE GRADE LEVELS OF THE BILINGUAL AND MONOLINGUAL PROGRAMS, TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE WAS SHOOTING FOR THE SAME GOALS.

EVERYONE WAS PUSHING FORWARD, EVEN IF THAT MEANT THAT CERTAIN THINGS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED OR CATERED TO THOSE SPECIFIC CLASSROOMS OR SPECIFIC PROGRAM.

>> THIS JUMPED OUR THIRD GRADE, MULTIPLYING AND DIVIDING WHOLE NUMBERS.

DATA IS LIKE THE ROAD MAP.

IT'S A TURN BY TURN GPS THAT GETS US TO THE DESTINATION, SO WE LOOK AT DATA OVERALL, THEN WE BREAK IT DOWN BY GRADE LEVEL, THEN WE BREAK IT DOWN BY TEACHERS, SUB GROUPS.

WHEN WE REALLY SIT DOWN AND START LOOKING AT DATA AND PLANNING, IT REALLY TURNS INTO A LOT OF WORK.

IF YOU'VE EVER WATCHED THE NFL DRAFT, WHEN THEY START TO PICKING THEIR PLAYERS, IT'S LIKE LAPTOPS AND SCREENS EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE WRITING ON THE WHITE BOARD, THAT'S WHAT WE DO.

>> I'M EXCITED TO HEAR THAT DEER CREEK GOT AN A RATING, DOES NOT SURPRISE ME ONE BIT.

THIS IS AN A+ SCHOOL, THE TEACHERS ARE AMAZING AND THE KIDS ARE THRIVING.

THEY WILL ALWAYS HAVE FUN.

I'VE LEARNED SO MUCH FROM THIS PLACE.

IT FEELS LIKE HOME, I FEEL LIKE I'M WITH FAMILY, THEY'RE ALWAYS SO NICE.

WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR HER TO COME BACK TO SCHOOL, WE WEREN'T EXPECTING THIS, BUT THEY DID CLAP IN.

THE ENTIRE SCHOOL WIND THE HALLWAYS AND CLAPPED HER BACK INTO SCHOOL AND THEY HAD A SONG PLAYING FOR HER.

IT WAS JUST AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF THE CULTURES HERE AT DEER CREEK.

IT EPITOMIZED WHAT THEY DO ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.

IT WAS JUST AN EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCE.

BUT THAT FEELING IS ALWAYS HERE WHERE THE KIDS AND

THE TEACHERS AND THE STAFF ARE CHEERING EACH OTHER ON AND IT STARTS AT THE TOP.

WHEN WE SHOW UP EVERY DAY, IT FEELS GOOD TO SHOW UP TO WORK.

IT FEELS GOOD TO BE HERE.

EVERYTHING THAT SHE DOES, SHE PUSHES FORWARD WITH LOVE.

SHE'S SO INTENTIONAL ABOUT SEEING PEOPLE AND ABOUT HEARING PEOPLE.

THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT I'VE LEARNT, NOT ONLY BY SEEING HER, BUT ALSO BY BEING PART OF WHAT SHE DOES EVERY SINGLE DAY

WHEN YOU BUILD A CULTURE THAT SAYS THAT YOU'RE UNIQUE, AND THAT'S NOT JUST OKAY, BUT THAT'S GOOD BECAUSE YOU'RE CONTRIBUTING SOMETHING TO US AS A COMMUNITY, THEN YOU GET WHAT YOU'RE GETTING AT DEER CREEK.

FOR EVERY STUDENT, WHAT THEY HAVE FROM THEIR CULTURE IS AN ASSET, IT'S NOT A DEFICIT.

IT'S JUST SUCH AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF OUR CULTURE HERE AND FAMILY.

YOU SAW A LOT OF THAT BECAUSE IT IS A TRUE FAMILY.

THEY KNEW I WOULD CRY UP HERE BECAUSE THEY KNOW ME AND I KNOW THEM.

NOT ALL PROVIDE REBATE OPPORTUNITIES, BUT THE ONES THAT DO I SIGNED IT.

YOUR IMPACT AND INFLUENCE HAS REACHED THE WORLD.

AS WE WATCHED THE VIDEO, I COULDN'T HELP BUT THINK HOW PROUD WE ARE OF CROWLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

I'VE GOT THREE CHILDREN THAT HAVE GONE THROUGH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND I CURRENTLY HAVE A GRANDSON GOING TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

OUR OLDEST DAUGHTER TEACHES IN BURLESON.

DON'T ASK ME WHAT YEAR THEY GRADUATED.

OUR SON IS IN HIS 18TH GOING ON TO 19TH YEAR AS A US MARINE STATION AT PENDLETON, AND OUR YOUNGEST DAUGHTER IS IN SALES IN BURLESON.

THIS DISTRICT HAS DONE A LOT FOR OUR FAMILY AND FOR THE THINGS THAT WE BELIEVE IN.

I HAD SEVERAL THINGS WRITTEN DOWN, THOSE I'M NOT SURE I'LL GET THROUGH IT.

I'M A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER AFTER I FINISHED A 40-YEAR CAREER IN HEALTHCARE, AND I'M TEACHING IN THE FORT WORTH SCHOOL DISTRICT.

THE CROWLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS BEEN AMAZING, BUT I HAD AN UNFORTUNATE THING HAPPEN TO ME.

A STUDENT ACCUSED ME OF DOING SOMETHING THAT WASN'T TRUE, AND I SEE STUDENTS THAT ACT UP AND I SEE NOT MUCH DISCIPLINE BEING DONE TO THEM.

I SEE IT HURTING OUR GOOD STUDENTS BECAUSE 90 PERCENT OF OUR STUDENTS ARE GOOD.

I WANT TO WORK WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, PROPOSED THAT I WORK WITH YOU OR DO SOMETHING TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE'S A DETERRENT FOR KIDS TRYING TO RUN PEOPLE'S LIVES AND DISRUPTING THE REST OF THE CHILDREN THAT ARE HERE TO LEARN.

WE OWE THAT TO THEM.

IT'S SUCH A GOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT, BUT IT DOESN'T TAKE ABOUT THOSE TWO PERCENTERS AND WE TALKED ABOUT IT.

THOSE TWO PERCENTERS DISRUPT THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR THE REST OF OUR CHILDREN.

I THINK THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO GET EVEN BETTER THAN WE ARE.

I'VE SEEN SOME AMAZING THING AND I TOO AM FEELING QUITE LIKE A DEER CREAKY RIGHT NOW.

[LAUGHTER] I THINK THERE'S ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.

I SAID THEY COULDN'T IDENTIFY SOMETHING JUST LIKE IN ATHLETIC TEAM, A SPORTS TEAM, WE SEE A WEAKNESS, WE SEE A CHANCE TO IMPROVE, WE SHOULD FOCUS ON IT.

I WANT TO BRING THAT TO YOUR ATTENTION AND ALL OF YOU HAVE A VERY DESCRIPTIVE ACCOUNT OF WHAT HAPPENED TO ME, BEING THREATENED BY A SIXTH GRADER, AND BEING CALLED NASTY NAMES BY A SIXTH GRADER.

POTENTIAL REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER STATUS, WHICH IS AMAZING WHEN YOU ONLY HAVE A SIXTH GRADE CHILDREN MAKING EGREGIOUS, MALICIOUS, TERRIBLE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST YOU, AND YOU HAVE TO GO AND GET LETTERS OF REFERENCE FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

YOU KNOW WHAT, WE DECIDED, WE'LL GO PUBLIC, AND TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING TO ANOTHER EDUCATOR.

HAD A STEADY TREND UPWARD.

DROPPED IN 2021 AS MOST DISTRICTS DID DURING THE PANDEMIC.

THEN WE STARTED A SHARP INCLINE.

THIS YEAR WE ADD SNAPSHOT WHICH WAS OCTOBER 28TH.

WE WEREN'T AT 16,735.

BUT JUST TO PROVIDE SOME CONTEXT FOR THAT, FROM THAT DATE IN OCTOBER TILL NOW, WE HAVE INCREASED SO THAT WE ARE NOW AT 16,915 STUDENTS.

WE ARE GROWING AND FAST.

THIS GROWTH HAS RESULTED IN SEVERAL GRADE CLOSURES THAT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL.

WHEN A CLASS REACHES 22 TO ONE RATIO AT PRE-K THROUGH 4TH, OR 24 AND 1 AND 5TH GRADE, THAT CLASS IS CLOSED.

THEN WHEN STUDENTS COME TO ENROLL AND THEY DON'T HAVE ROOM AT THAT CAMPUS FOR THAT GRADE LEVEL THAT'S CONSIDERED CLOSE.

WHEN THAT HAPPENS, WE CAN'T JUST TURN THE KIDDO AWAY AND WE CAN HIRE A TEACHER ON THE SPOT, SO THEY HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE AND THAT'S THROUGH A PROCESS WE CALL OVERFLOW.

WHEN A STUDENT COMES TO ENROLL INTO A CLOSED GRADE THEY ARE OVERFLOWED TO ANOTHER CAMPUS.

RIGHT NOW WE HAVE 290 STUDENTS [NOISE] WHO HAVE BEEN OVERFLOWN THIS YEAR FROM WHERE THEY WOULD HAVE ATTEMPTED TO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL BUT HAS BEEN WORKING FOR US ESSENTIALLY.

AT THE END OF THE YEAR, THEY WILL GO BACK TO THEIR HOME CAMPUS THE NEXT YEAR ASSUMING THERE ARE ENOUGH SEATS AND ALL THAT THOSE ARE OUT.

WE ALSO IN MY DEPARTMENT LOOKING AT TRANSFER STUDENTS AND DEAL WITH THE TRANSFER STUDENTS.

I'M NOT GOING TO READ EVERY LEVEL HERE TO YOU BUT WE DO HAVE A TOTAL OF 512 TRANSFER STUDENTS.

THESE ARE OUT-OF-DISTRICT TRANSFERS.

NOT IN THE DISTRICT, BUT STUDENTS FROM SURROUNDING AREAS THAT RECOGNIZE THE GREATNESS TO CROWLEY ISD AND WANT TO BE HERE.

A LARGE NUMBER OF THEM ARE EMPLOYEES, STUDENTS, THE TRANSFER IN.

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE DO IF POSSIBLE OR IMPORTANT.

IN CLOSING, YOU'VE SEEN THIS CHART BEFORE.

WE INCLUDED THE 69 MEMBER, BUT NOW YOU SEE A 17,069.

WHAT WE DID THERE WAS ADDED IN THE APPLICATIONS THAT ARE CURRENTLY AWAITING PROCESSING.

[OVERLAPPING] THEY COULD BE WAITING, DOCUMENTS OR SHOTS OR MAYBE THEY CAN BE OVERFLOWED TO ANOTHER CAMPUS, BUT RIGHT NOW THEY'VE 154 PENDING APPLICATIONS.

MY TABLE MATES, JUST THE WHOLE COMMITTEE AS A WHOLE.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMMITTEE HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

I LEARNED MORE ABOUT MONEY AND FINANCES THAN I THOUGHT I EVER WOULD.

[LAUGHTER] I LEARNED HOW BOND PACKAGES ARE FORMED AND EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT THAT GOES INTO IT.

I ALSO LEARNED ABOUT ALL THE CURRENT NEEDS THAT ARE CURRENTLY NEEDED AT CAMPUSES AND FUTURE NEEDS.

BEING A STUDENT ON THIS COMMITTEE WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE.

I FELT IT HELPED MY TABLE MATES AND THOSE AROUND ME FUEL AND TRULY SEE WHAT BEING A STUDENT IN THIS DISTRICT IS LIKE ON THE DAILY.

I FEEL THIS BOND WILL BENEFIT EVERY SINGLE AGE THAT COMES INTO OUR DISTRICT.

NOT ONLY THE STUDENTS, ALSO STAFF AND PARENTS.

I HAVE TRULY ENJOYED EVERY SECOND OF BEING ON THIS COMMITTEE.

AS A STUDENT IN THE DISTRICT AND ON THIS BOARD, I SEE HOPE AND A POSSIBILITY IN THIS QUORAM.

NOT JUST BECAUSE IT'LL BE MONEY WE CAN PUT INTO A BUILDING OR TO HELP PAY WITH TEACHERS FOR PLAYGROUND BUT BECAUSE STUDENTS WILL HAVE A POSSIBILITY, AND AN OPTION.

THEY WILL HAVE A FUTURE GUARANTEED BY THE BOARD.

ON THIS BOARD THERE WAS TEAMWORK WHICH HELPED TO CREATE THIS, HELPED TO DESIGN AND MOTIVATE TO CREATE AND FORM THIS PACKAGE THAT WILL BE PRESENTED TO YOU ALL.

THIS BOND, WILL AID ISSUES THAT WE SEE NOW AND THE FUTURE THAT I HADN'T EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT YET.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE HEARD ECHOED THROUGHOUT THIS ENTIRE MEETING WAS ACT LIKE A FAMILY, WORK LIKE A TEAM.

WE WERE RESPECTFUL OF EACH OTHER'S TIME AND OPINIONS.

WE WERE COLLABORATIVE, WE CHALLENGED OURSELVES TO MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS FOR THE COLLECTIVE.

WE WERE SUPPOSED TO CONSIDER THE NEEDS OF ALL THE DISTRICTS STUDENTS SO THAT ALL STUDENTS THRIVE TODAY AND IN THE FUTURE.

WE WERE DILIGENT AND LOOKING AT EVERY UNIT AND FOCUSING ON THE BIG PICTURE.

WE REPRESENTED THE PRIORITIES AND EXPECTATIONS AND VALUES OF THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY.

THIS COMMITTEE WAS COMPRISED AS YOU SAW EARLIER, OF COMMUNITY LEADERS, PARENTS, STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND MANY, MANY MORE.

IT WAS AN UNPRECEDENTED GROUP OF RESOURCES FOCUSED ON ONE COMMON GOAL.

WE USED FACTS AND DATA TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS.

WE WERE FURNISHED WITH AN ORDINATE AMOUNT OF DATA, INCLUDING HISTORICAL, STATISTICAL, VISUAL CONTENT THAT WAS CRITICAL IN OUR DECISION MAKING PROCESS.

WE STRIVED FOR EXCELLENCE AND EQUITY OF FACILITIES.

WE DEVELOPED SHORT AND LONG TERM GOALS.

FOR ME, MY HISTORY HAS ALWAYS BEEN FOCUSED ON CORE COMPETENCIES THAT RESONATE NOT ONLY IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE, BUT ALSO IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE.

WE DID THAT.

WE FOCUSED ON CORE COMPETENCIES LIKE PRIORITY SETTING, DEALING WITH AMBIGUOUS SITUATIONS, TIME MANAGEMENT.

ALL OF THESE THINGS WERE PARAMOUNT IN OUR PROCESS.

WE ESTABLISHED A PRIORITY RATING SYSTEM OF 1, 2 OR 3 FOR EACH PROJECT JUST BASED ON OUR NEEDS ASSESSMENT ALONE.

IN OUR FIRST MEETING, WE WERE FOCUSED ON PROCESS, TIMELINE, VISION, AND GOALS.

IT'S LIKE THE RULE OF SEVEN.

WE WERE INSTRUCTED AT THE BEGINNING OF EVERY MEETING WHAT OUR PURPOSE WAS AND WHAT THAT END GOAL WAS, INCLUDING WE HAD GROUND RULES.

ONE SPEAKER AT A TIME, RESPECT FOR THE SPEAKER, LISTEN TO THE INTENT TO LEARN AND TO CONTRIBUTE AND TO ENGAGE.

THIS WAS A WONDERFUL REMINDER OF WHAT WE NEEDED TO STAY FOCUSED ON AND THE OBJECTIONS.

EVERY MEETING WAS ORCHESTRATED FLAWLESSLY.

WE RECEIVED AN AGENDA AND THE APPROPRIATE TOOLS FOR THE MEETING TO ENSURE WE WERE PRODUCTIVE.

YOU KNOW CHOCOLATE ON THE TABLE WAS A NICE LITTLE ADDED BONUS, BY THE WAY.

THE OTHER THING THAT I REALLY LIKED WAS THE GRADIENT OF DECISION MAKING MODEL, THAT WAS PRETTY OUTSTANDING BECAUSE IT GAVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE HONEST WITH OUR VOTE.

WE HAD EIGHT DIFFERENT OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM, FROM ENDORSEMENT, TO AGREEMENT WITH RESERVATION, STAIN OR BLOCK.

WE REVIEWED THE 2007 BOND AND WE WERE PROVIDED WITH AN ENTIRE SUMMARY OF THE VARIOUS PHASES, THE THREE PHASES THAT WERE PRESENTED TO US.

WE TALKED ABOUT SCHOOL FINANCE 101, AND YES, IT IS COMPLICATED.

I COME FROM A FINANCE BACKGROUND AND I SAID, YEAH, THIS IS COMPLICATED.

BUT WHAT WE LEARNED WERE THERE ARE TWO FACTORS THAT DRIVE SCHOOL FINANCE, STUDENT ENROLLMENT AND PROPERTY VALUES.

WE RECEIVED THE ENROLLMENT GROWTH IN OUR PACKET, PROPERTY VALUE GROWTH TAX RATES AND FUNDING.

LASTLY, WE FOCUSED ON IN OUR SECOND MEETING, THE DEMOGRAPHIC REPORT.

THIS REALLY OPENED OUR EYES TO THE ANTICIPATED GROWTH THAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE HERE IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT.

FURTHERMORE, WHAT WE EXPECT IN TERMS OF HOUSING GROWTH IS SIGNIFICANT.

WE ALSO TOURED THE FACILITIES.

WE TOURED SEVERAL SCHOOLS AND THIS WAS ENLIGHTENING.

SOME OF THE AMENITIES IN THE SCHOOLS NEED AN UPGRADE AND SOME OF THEM NEEDED SOME REPAIR.

WE IDENTIFIED SAFETY AND SECURITY NEEDS, LOGISTICAL NEEDS, ETC.

BUT THAT BEING SAID, IT WAS CLEAR TO US THAT WE NEEDED TO SOLICIT MORE STAKEHOLDER INPUT FOR WHAT MORE THAN WHAT OUR COMMITTEE COULD AFFORD TO DO.

IT JUST WAS PRUDENT FOR US TO REACH OUT TO OTHER PEOPLE IN A COMMUNITY.

MR. KIRSCHNER AND I HAD A CONVERSATION AND SAID, HEY, LISTEN LET'S PUT TOGETHER A SURVEY AND GET IT OUT TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING THIS EVERY DAY, WHICH WAS INCLUSIVE OF TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, STUDENTS ETC AND I THINK THE RESULTS WERE PRETTY AMAZING.

BUT I'M GOING TO BE QUIET NOW.

BUT I JUST WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU WHAT IT MEANT TO ME TO BE A PART OF THIS COMMITTEE.

IT WAS A TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY AND THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE COMMITTEE BOARD WELL, AND OUR FINAL DECISION MAKING THAT IS GOING TO BE PRESENTED TO YOU TODAY.

BUT MY MOST IMPORTANT JOB IS BEING A MUM OF GABRIEL, FELICITA, FRIDAH, AND SANTIAGO.

THAT'S WHAT RUNS MY HEART.

THAT'S ALL OVER MY VISION BOARD.

DR. MCFARLAND AND THEY ARE CROWLEY ISD STUDENTS THAT ATTEND NORTH CROWLEY AND DEER CREEK.

WE ALL WALKED IN HESITANTLY INTO MEETING NUMBER 4, I WORRIED ABOUT THIS HUGE TASK THAT WE WERE GOING TO UNDERTAKE.

BUT MADAM PRESIDENT LETONYA WOODSON MAYFIELD AND SUPERINTENDENT MCFARLAND, YOU QUICKLY PUT A SETTINGS.

YOU REMINDED US OF RY AND YOU REMINDED US TO ACT LIKE A FAMILY AND WORK AS A TEAM.

I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT OUR COMMITTEE REALLY DID DO THAT.

WE BEGAN BY DISCUSSING INITIAL SURVEY RESULTS THAT SHARED IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY USE THE FACILITIES.

BE OKAY ARCHITECTS, PARTNERS WITH CROWLEY ISD TO HELP DEVELOP THE FUTURE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS.

THEY SHARED WITH US ABOUT CISD SAFETY, GROWTH, CURRENT FACILITIES, TRANSPORTATION, TECHNOLOGY.

WE WERE SHOWN AN INITIAL LIKE MOCK PALETTE VALID OF SCHOOL PRIORITIES BY LEVELS OF NEEDS.

MY BIGGEST AHA MOMENTS AT THAT MEETING WAS HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO CONSTRUCT A NEW SCHOOL.

EVEN THE NUMBERS HAVE CHANGED FROM 2018 TO WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE NOW [NOISE].

WE ASKED THOSE QUESTIONS IN THE MEETINGS ON OUR TABLES, IN THE PARKING LOT, AND EVEN LATER ON IN EMAILS.

MISS JUDY ALWAYS WAS A MASTER MEDIATOR AND SHE MADE SURE TO ANSWER ALL OUR QUESTIONS.

WE HAD THESE DEEP DISCUSSIONS AFTER ALL, WE HAD LEARNED IN THE PREVIOUS MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS DURING OUR MARKET BOARD.

SOME CONCERNS ARE COMING UP IN REGARDS TO WHAT THESE PRIORITIES WOULD BE.

IT IS BECAUSE OF THESE RICH CONVERSATIONS THAT CISD HAD TO COME BACK VIA ZOOM TO PRESENT SOME ALTERNATIVES.

THAT'S WHERE I HAD THE BIGGEST ENLIGHTENING MOMENT, LIKE CROWLEY IS REALLY DOING WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING.

THEY WERE LISTENING TO THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND WHAT WE FELT LIKE WERE POSSIBLE BIGGER PRIORITIES THAT NEEDED TO BE TAKEN ACCOUNT.

WE WERE HEARD MADAM PRESIDENT AND BOARD MEMBERS, AND THAT IS HUGE.

I FELT LIKE CROWLEY ISD LISTENED.

IT HONESTLY WASN'T JUST ME SITTING ON A COMMITTEE AND IT WAS JUST A CHECKLIST.

YEAH, WE HAD THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS THERE.

THEY HEARD ALL OUR VOICES AND THE ALTERNATIVES.

BUT IN MY CASE, I FELT LIKE THEY HEARD THIS CROWLEY ISD MUM WITH FOUR SPECIAL NEEDS LATINO KIDS IN THE DISTRICT.

IT MADE ME VERY HAPPY FOR THE FUTURE THAT MY 10-YEAR OLD TRIPLETS STILL HAVE A GOOD AMOUNT OF THE TIME WHEN THE SCHOOLS AND I'M SURE THEY'RE GOING TO SEE A LOT OF WHAT TIME AND ENERGY THAT WE ALL PUT IN THIS MEETING.

IT MADE FOR ME MEETING NUMBER 6 TO BE A LOT MORE SMOOTHER CONVERSATIONS AS WE VOTED AND HELPED IN CREATING THIS BOND PACKAGE WITH THE COAL VOICE, WE DID A SWAT ANALYSIS AND LASTLY, WE CELEBRATED, MANY DEDICATED HOURS BY MANY PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS TOGETHER.

BUT BEFORE I GET INTO THE SLIDES AND THE RECOMMENDATIONS, IT'S ALREADY BEEN TESTED ON, BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT JUDY ROMANO, DR. MCFARLAND, AND KIRSCHNER, THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB LEADING US THROUGH THIS PROCESS.

THE NEXT RECOMMENDATIONS THAT CAME FROM THE COMMITTEE WERE THE HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE WAS RIGHT ONCE THEY'RE PROBABLY NOT SPRAYED CAMPUS.

NORTH CROWLEY 9TH GRADE CAMPUS AND NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

MOST OF THOSE WERE CLASSROOM. THAT NATURE.

LAST ONE, CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL REPLACEMENT.

I SAW THAT I FELT LIKE I WAS LOSING PART MY ARM OR PART OF MY BODY.

I MENTIONED I SPENT 29 YEARS IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AS AN ADMINISTRATOR ROLE, 18 OF THOSE ARE AN OFFICER AT CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

IN PROPOSITION B, WE HAVE THE NEW TRACK AND FIELD FACILITIES AND INCLUSIVE OUTDOOR LEARNING CENTER, WHICH IS VERY EXCITING.

PROPOSITION C, WE HAD THE NEW PERFORMING ARTS AND INNOVATIVE LEARNING CENTER.

THAT'S WHAT WE INTENDED TO DO WITH THIS OUTDOOR LEARNING CENTER, BUT THIS IS A LEARNING CENTER, IT'S A COURSE OUTDOORS, BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF DIFFERENT LEARNING STATIONS, AS WELL AS RECREATION STATIONS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES.

EITHER STUDENTS IN WHEELCHAIR, STUDENTS THAT MAY BE RESTRICTED IN SOME OTHER WAY, BUT THERE ARE DIFFERENT LEARNING STATIONS WHERE STUDENTS ARE LEARNING NUMBERS AND SOUNDS AND MATH AND OTHER THINGS, BUT IT'S OUTDOORS.

IT'S ALL PLAYGROUND SETTING, BUT IT'S DESIGNED SPECIFIC FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES.

THE INNOVATIVE LEARNING CENTER IS A PART OF THE NEW PERFORMING ARTS CENTER.

ONE OF THE THINGS WE HEARD INITIALLY WHEN WE PRESENTED THE PROPOSAL WE ACTUALLY STARTED ON WOMEN IN ADMINISTRATION.

WE STARTED OFF WITH THE IDEA OF ONLY HAVING A PERFORMING FINE ARTS CENTER.

THE COMMITTEE WAS CLEAR IN THAT IF WE ONLY HAVE A PERFORMING FINE ARTS CENTER, IT'S ONLY USED WHEN WE'RE DOING PERFORMANCES AND FOR THE REST OF THE TIME IS SITTING THERE VACANT.

WHAT WE DID WAS WE BEGAN TO LOOK AT SOME OTHER THINGS THAT WE WERE DOING AND DECIDED THAT WE COULD ACTUALLY CREATE THE CLASSROOMS ON THIS SIDE, THEN THESE CLASSROOMS WOULD ALLOW US TO USE THIS FACILITY THROUGHOUT THE WEEK ON A REGULAR BASIS, AND ALSO STILL HAVE THIS PERFORMING FINE ARTS CENTER TO BE USED WHEN PERFORMANCES OCCUR.

IT'S A BETTER USE OF THE FACILITY.

IT CALLS US TO INCREASE THE CLASSES THERE ON THAT SIDE.

WE CALL IT THE INNOVATIVE LEARNING CENTER BECAUSE WE WANTED TO LEAVE IT AS FLEXIBLE FOR US TO HAVE SOME MORE BRAINSTORMING AND PLANNING.

AND SO THE FUTURE GROWTH OF THE DISTRICTS IS PROJECTED, SEEING THE DEMOGRAPHER'S REPORTS.

OBVIOUSLY, IF THOSE NEW HOMES ARE BUILT, THAT'S GOING TO ADD A NEW VALUED ROLE AND NEW STUDENTS HERE.

THE INCREASE IN THE TAX BASE WILL ALLOW YOU TO BORROW MONEY THROUGH BONDS FOR NEW PROJECTS AND FACILITIES.

WE FEEL COMFORTABLE THAT THE DISTRICT CAN CERTAINLY AFFORD THE BILLION-PLUS DOLLAR ELECTION THAT YOU'RE CONTEMPLATING AND KEEP IT AT THAT BUSINESS TAX RATE.

AND IF FOR WHATEVER REASON THE GROWTH DOES NOT COME TO FRUITION AT THE PACE THAT WE'RE EXPECTING.

WE WOULD JUST SLOW DOWN THE ISSUANCE BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF CERTAINTY WITH WHAT WE ISSUE EVERY YEAR.

EACH YEAR AT THE END OF JULY, WE'RE GOING TO GET THE DISTRICT'S CERTIFIED VALUE FROM THE PARENT APPRAISAL DISTRICT.

AND WE'RE GOING TO KNOW HOW MUCH CAPACITY WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO ABOVE THAT LEVEL.

WE'RE GOING TO STAY AT THAT LEVEL OF ISSUE.

HOPEFULLY, IT'S AN AMOUNT THAT CAN MAKE SURE THAT WE MEET ALL OF THE CONSTRUCTION DEADLINES OR INSTRUCTION PROJECTIONS THAT THE DISTRICT HAS.

WE LIKE US TO LOOK AT LEGISLATION DEALING WITH ENROLLMENT AND TRYING TO PUSH THE SEAT OF ADAS CALCULATED ON ENROLLMENT.

THAT'S BECAUSE OUR EXPENSES ARE ALL TIED TO ENROLLMENT.

BUT THE REVENUE THAT WE GET FROM THE STATE IS TIED TO ADA, WHICH IS THERE'S A GAP IN THOSE TWO.
