THE MISSION IS TO EXPLORE THE WONDERS OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES THROUGH HANDS-ON STEM LESSON.

STUDENTS ARE ENJOYING GUEST SPEAKERS IN DRESSING UP AS THEIR FAVORITE SCIENCE SPY.

WOULD SAY FAVORITE SCIENCE INSPIRED ATTIRE.

IT IS ALWAYS AN AMAZING DAY OF DISCOVERY AND LEARNING.

THIS MORNING I WENT OVER TO HOPE ON ELEMENTARY FOR STEM DAY, AND MS. KELLY DOES AN AMAZING JOB WITH THE STEM PROGRAM.

SHE HAD THIS LESSON OF ZOMBIES HAVE TAKEN OVER THE SCHOOL, AND THESE KIDS HAD TO CREATE A FLASHLIGHT WITH A LITTLE JUST BATTERY THAT ARE IN YOUR WATCHES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

THESE KIDS WERE ABLE TO MAKE A FLASHLIGHT AND WITH A SWITCH AND EVERYTHING.

THIS THING WAS AMAZING AND I WISH I COULD GO BACK IN SCHOOL AND LEARN ALL THIS STUFF BECAUSE IT WAS REALLY COOL.

WE'RE IN A BILL OF CELEBRATING NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH, AND I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO RECOGNIZE THAT WHEN WE SAY THAT DIVERSITY IS A STRENGTH IN DIVERSITY WITHOUT POWER THAT WE NEED WITHIN CROWLEY ISD, WE KNOW WE HAVE ALL SIX OF THE LANGUAGES SPOKEN IN OUR DISTRICT, AND SO I WAS ASKED THE QUESTION, WHY DO WE HAVE THESE [INAUDIBLE].

WHY DO WE CELEBRATE AND THE REALITY IS THAT WE RECOGNIZE THAT OUR COUNTRY IS A POWERFUL COUNTRY AND OUTSTANDING COUNTRY THAT WAS CREATED BY ETHNICITIES FROM ALL DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS.

THIS ONE, WE CELEBRATE OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH AND WE CELEBRATE OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE.

BUT WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT OUR STUDENTS TODAY WE'LL LEARN ABOUT THE STRUGGLES AND TRIUMPHS, OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE.

WE KNOW THAT AS WE LEARN ABOUT OTHERS, WE BECOME STRONGER OURSELVES.

THERE'S A COLLECTION OF BOOKS THAT ARE CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH.

YOU'LL FIND IT IN THE CISD WEBSITE AS WELL.

IT HAS BEEN SHARED TO ALL THE CAMPUSES THAT'S CONNECTED WITH MATH, SCIENCE, LITERATURE, SPORTS, AND FINE ARTS, AND WE WANT TO THANK OUR CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT FOR PROVIDING THIS FOR THE STUDENTS AND THE STAFF OF CROWLEY ISD.

THEN WE HAVE THE ART CONTEST.

AT THE ART CONTEST, STUDENTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN TWO WAYS.

THEY CAN PARTICIPATE PER A CONTEST OR JUST BY DISPLAYING THEIR ENTRY IN AN ART SHOW.

ALL OF THIS IS IN RECOGNITION OF THE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH THEME [SPANISH] WE ARE ALL, WE ARE ONE.

THERE ARE EIGHT CATEGORIES THAT ARE KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 12TH GRADE, AND THESE ENTRIES WILL BE DISPLAYED FOR VIEWING AND VOTING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21ST AT NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

THEN WE HAVE THE DOOR DECORATING CONTEST.

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CAMPUSES TO PARTICIPATE AND WE REALLY ENCOURAGE THE CAMPUSES TO DECORATE THE DOOR THAT'S CONNECTED TO THE THEME, AND WE WANT THOSE OUT BY SEPTEMBER 29TH, FOR AGAIN STUDENTS AND STAFF AND OTHERS TO WALK THE HALLS AS THEY LEARN ABOUT HISTORICAL FIGURES, CULTURAL EVENTS, AND TRADITIONS.

FINALLY, WE END WITH THE QUIZ BOWL THAT IS HELD SATURDAY WILL BE OCTOBER 21ST AT NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

WE ARE CELEBRATING THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HISPANIC HERITAGE QUIZ BOWL, WHICH WAS INTRODUCED TO CROWLEY ISD BY OUR FORMER DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT, CONNIE ISABELL.

IT IS AN HONOR FOR ME JUST TO CONTINUE THAT TRADITION HERE IN CROWLEY ISD.

THERE ARE THREE DIVISIONS.

WE HAD DIVISIONS BOTH IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH.

WE HAVE AN ELEMENTARY SPANISH, ELEMENTARY ENGLISH, AND A SECONDARY ENGLISH, AND THEN WE HAVE TWO TEAMS THAT WILL ADVANCE TO THE FINALS.

EACH YEAR, NEW QUESTIONS ARE ADDED IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO BUILD STUDENTS KNOWLEDGE OF BOTH HISTORICAL AND CURRENT EVENTS.

WE DO INVITE YOU ALL TO COME AND JOIN US AT THE HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATION AND QUIZ BOWL ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21ST, FROM 8:30-2:30 PM AT NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

NUMBER 15, EXPLORING COMPUTER SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS AT ELEMENTARY AND NUMBER 16, WINNING THE GAME WITH THE STEM BOARD GAMES ELEMENTARY.

OUR GRANTS TOTAL $26,148 FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR, AND THAT BRINGS US TO A TOTAL OF OVER $300,000 THAT WE HAVE MADE IN INNOVATIVE TEACHING GRANTS OVER THE YEARS.

WE DO HAVE A NEWLY RENEWED GRANT COMMITTEE THAT IS NOT ONLY GOING TO MEET WITH GRANT RECIPIENTS THIS YEAR, BUT WE'LL GET TO MEET WITH SOME OF THOSE WHO PUT IN APPLICATIONS AND PERHAPS WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL AND HELP THEM LEARN HOW THEY MIGHT BE MORE SUCCESSFUL.

IT'S ABOUT NINE MONTHS SINCE I WAS HERE.

I THOUGHT WE WOULD BEGIN BY JUST TAKING A LITTLE LOOK BACK INTO THE SPRING BECAUSE THE OFFICIAL ENROLLMENT DATA FOR ALL OF THE DISTRICTS IN THE DFW AREA WAS RELEASED.

THE MAP THAT YOU SEE HERE SHOWS THE ROUGHLY 90 SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT MAKE UP THE DFW AREA.

THE OFFICIAL ENROLLMENT FOR THE 22-23 SCHOOL YEAR FOR CROWLEY ISD WAS 17,729.

THAT WAS THE 25TH LARGEST AMONG ALL OF THE DFW SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

NOW, I THINK THIS MAP IS REALLY TELLING, IF YOU LOOK AT THE DISTRICTS THAT ARE SHADED IN BLUE, THOSE DISTRICTS HAVE SEEN ENROLLMENT DECLINES.

THE DISTRICTS THAT ARE IN GRAY ARE THOSE PRIMARILY BEEN FLAT.

THE ONES IN YELLOW AND THE SHADED IN RED IS WHERE THE ENROLLMENT GROWTH.

SO THIS IS ON PERCENTAGE GROWTH FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS.

SO YOU CAN SEE HOW THE OUTER RING OF DFW HAS EXPERIENCED THE MAJORITY OF THE GROWTH OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS.

BUT IF YOU LOOK WITHIN TARRANT COUNTY, YOU CAN SEE CROWLEY AT 9% RATE THERE. THAT'S ONE OF THE HIGHEST.

MANY OF THE DISTRICTS IN TARRANT COUNTY HAS SEEN FLAT TO DECLINING ENROLLMENT SINCE THE 17-18 SCHOOL YEAR.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ENROLLMENT, FOR THE SNAPSHOT DATE, YOU CAN SEE THE 16729.

THAT WAS A RECORD LAST YEAR AND I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE DISTRICTS AND TOTAL ENROLLMENT HAS SURPASSED THE 17,000 MARK IN SEPTEMBER AND IS CURRENTLY AT 17,036 STUDENTS.

GENERALLY WE'RE STILL ON THAT, THAT AVERAGE FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS IS RIGHT ABOUT 1.9%.

THAT'S WHAT THE DISTRICT CONTINUES TO BE ON HERE, AS WE'RE STILL JUST UNDER TWO MONTHS FROM THE SNAPSHOT DATE.

BUT THE MAIN DRIVER FOR ALL OF THIS GROWTH IN THE DFW AREA, HAS BEEN THE HOUSING MARKET.

THE HOUSING MARKET HAS SEEN SOME UPS AND DOWNS SINCE LAST FALL.

REMEMBER THAT THE INTEREST RATE ON A 30-YEAR MORTGAGE WENT UP ABOUT 4% IN THE FALL, SO IT SAW A LOT OF THE BUILDERS PULL BACK ON ACTIVITY IN THE FALL.

WHAT'S INTERESTING IN BEGINNING IN THE EARLY PART OF THE YEAR, A TRAFFIC AND SALES BEGAN TO PICK UP AGAIN.

BUILDERS STARTED TO OFFER MORE INCENTIVES.

THEY ALSO STARTED TO DO RATE BY DOWN PACKAGES.

WHEN YOU SEE THAT THE RATE IS 7%, YOU CAN SEE THAT MASSIVE CLIMB THERE ON THE RIGHT AND THEN GOING FROM THE HISTORICALLY LOW ALL THE WAY UP TO IN THE 7.1-7.2 RANGE HERE THESE LAST FEW WEEKS.

JUST KNOW THAT ON THE NEW HOME SIDE, THE BUILDERS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO USE SOME OF THEIR MONEY AS INCENTIVES TO BUY PEOPLE DOWN INTO THE UPPER FLOORS AROUND 5%.

IT'S CONTINUED TO HELP BUYERS CLOSE ON NEW HOMES.

THAT BLUE, YOU CAN SEE THAT BIG PEAK THAT WE SAW BACK IN 21.

WE HAVE SEEN THE MARKET COME DOWN ABOUT 28% BUT IT'S NOT THE 40, 45% DECLINE THAT WE WERE EXPECTING BACK IN THE FALL.

I THINK WHEN I SPOKE TO YOU LAST TIME WE WERE ENCOURAGED WHAT WE WERE SEEING IN FEBRUARY AND LOTS OF REPORTS FROM BUILDERS WHICH THINGS HAVE ACTUALLY GOTTEN BETTER.

MANY BUILDERS ARE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF INTRODUCING MORE THAN THEY WERE EXPECTING TO DO FOR ALL OF 23.

ANOTHER THING THAT CONTINUES TO HELP THE NEW HOME MARKET IS THE FACT THAT THE EXISTING HOME INVENTORY REMAINS HISTORICALLY LOW.

THAT'S WHAT YOU SEE ON THE RED LINE THERE.

BUT ALSO REMEMBER THAT AN EXISTING HOME, MOST OF THOSE BUYERS ARE HAVING TO PAY THE FULL MORTGAGE RATES.

AGAIN, IT'S PUSHING PEOPLE TO THE NEW HOME MARKET, WHICH CROWLEY ISD, HAS A LOT OF LAND AND A LOT OF BUILDERS AVAILABLE WHERE OTHER DISTRICTS IN TARRANT COUNTY, THEIR NEW HOME MARKETS HAD SHRUNK.

OUTSIDE OF EAGLE MOUNTAIN, SAGINAW, OR EVEN THE PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST THIS IS STILL WITHIN THE COUNTY.

YOU CAN SEE THE RESALES HERE FOR THE DISTRICT, SO THE SLIDE THERE, THE CHART THERE ON THE LEFT ON THIS SLIDE YOU CAN SEE THE NUMBERS HAVE COME DOWN A LITTLE BIT IN RESALES, BUT NOT NOT TOO BAD FOR THE NUMBER OF EXISTING HOMES THAT CONTINUES TO SELL.

THESE ARE THE NUMBERS THROUGH THE END OF JUNE AT THE TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION HAS THE LEAST.

YOU CAN SEE TEXAS FOR GROWING ABOUT FOUR PERCENT AS A WHOLE, LED BY DFW.

WE'VE ADDED OVER 200,000 NET NEW JOBS FOR THE 12 MONTHS ENDING IN JUNE, SO WE NOW HAVE OVER 4.27 MILLION PEOPLE EMPLOYED.

YOU CAN SEE THAT CHART THERE ON THE LEFT TALLIES JUST WE MADE IT THROUGH THE COVID PANDEMIC, REHIRED AND THEN WE CONTINUE TO GROW.

AS YOU CAN SEE, ALL OF THE STICKS AND BRICKS GOING UP FOR MANY OF THE SUBDIVISIONS.

WE COUNTED A RECORD, 765 NEW HOME STARTS IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 23.

RIGHT THERE WITH EAGLE MOUNTAIN SAGINAW, THERE USED TO BE A BIG GAP BETWEEN EAGLE MOUNTAIN AND SAGINAW'S ACTIVITY AND CROWLEY'S ACTIVITY IN DISTRICTS MOVED INTO THE TOP TEN IN TERMS OF TOTAL NEW HOME ACTIVITY.

NOW, 90% OF IT CONTINUES TO BE IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH.

BUT WE ARE SEEING THE STATS THERE IN THE CITY OF CROWLEY, START TO INCH UP OVER THE LAST YEAR AS WELL.

THE TOP SUBDIVISIONS ARE LISTED HERE.

SO WHAT'S COMING? THERE ARE OVER 2,200 LOTS THAT ARE FULLY DEVELOP AND NOTHING STARTED YET.
