SYCAMORE ELEMENTARY SECOND GRADE GATE STUDENTS HAD AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE AT TIMBERVIEW FARMS WITH MS. WEAVER AND MS. SLEY ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6TH.

THE STUDENTS DOVE INTO THE WONDERS OF SCIENCE THROUGH HANDS ON ACTIVITIES ALIGNED WITH THEIR TEETH.

THEY EXPLORED AQUAPONICS AND HYDROPONIC GARDENING, EXAMINED ANIMAL CHARACTERISTICS AND EVEN HAD THE CHANCE TO HOLD AND INTERACT WITH FARM ANIMALS.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO TIMBERVIEW FARMS FOR PROVIDING SUCH AN ENGAGING AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE.

YOUR UNIQUE BLEND OF FARMING AND SCIENCE BROUGHT LEARNING TO LIFE AND WE TRULY APPRECIATE YOU. [APPLAUSE]

THE CROWLEY ISD YOUTH ENGAGEMENT SUMMIT WAS A TRANSFORMATIVE TWO DAY EVENT HELD ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5TH AND SATURDAY DECEMBER 7TH.

CROWLEY ISD STUDENTS COLLABORATED WITH LOCAL LEADERS TO ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSES OF VIOLENCE AND FOSTER A CULTURE OF PEACE.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO THE UNITED WAY, ONE SECOND COLLABORATIVE.

THE CITY OF FORT FORT POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE TARRANT COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT, BISHOP RODNEY MCINTOSH, OUR MODERATOR KRISTIN GEEZ AND ALL DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF WHO MADE THE EVENT IMPACTFUL AND POSSIBLE.

YOU'RE ABOUT TO SEE SHE GETS ALL THAT WITH FLYING COLORS BECAUSE SHE IS CURRENTLY NUMBER 2 IN HER CLASS.

[APPLAUSE] SHE HAS CONTRIBUTED GREATLY TO JRTC THAT IS NOW AN HONOR UNIT WITH DISTINCTION AND SO HER LEADERSHIP, HOW MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

SHE IS ALSO PRESIDENT OF PANTHERS FOR CHRIST.

SHE IS THE VARSITY SOCCER TEAM CAPTAIN.

SHE'S IN STUDENT COUNCIL, THE BLACK STUDENT UNION, NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY AND TEXAS GIRLS STATE.

SHE HAS A LEADER THROUGH AND THROUGH AND SHE HAS ALREADY MORE THAN 200 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE.

THE OTHER PHENOMENAL THING ABOUT CADET COLONEL NONI IS THAT SHE HAS RECEIVED NOMINATIONS FOR WEST POINT, THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY AND THE NAVAL ACADEMY.

SHE TELLS US SHE HAS NOT MADE HER DECISION JUST YET.

WE ASK LIEUTENANT COLONEL SAWYER TO TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT CADET COLONEL NONI.

SHE HAS A LOT TO DO AND A LOT ON HER PLATE AND SHE'S TAKING ADVANCED CLASSES AND SHE'S PUTTING HER 100% INTO OUR BATTALION INTO OUR SCHOOL.

TO SAY THAT I'M PEACOCK PROUD IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT OF THIS GROUP.

BRINGING COACH LYNN IN A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO HAS CHANGED THE CULTURE OF THIS PROGRAM AND CHANGED THE CULTURE OF THIS SCHOOL.

I DON'T KNOW IF I'M EMBARRASSING HIM OR EMBARRASSING MYSELF, BUT I'VE KNOWN COACH LYNN SINCE HE WAS 16.

THROUGHOUT THAT TIME, HE'S BEEN A MODEL OF CHARACTER, HE'S BEEN A MODEL OF DIGNITY, DOES EVERYTHING THE RIGHT WAY, AND HE TEACHES HIS STUDENTS AND HIS ATHLETES THE SAME THING.

I'M JUST SO PROUD OF WHAT THEY'VE ACHIEVED THIS YEAR.

SOMETHING THAT LIKE WE TALKED ABOUT, HISTORIC.

REACHING THE THIRD ROUND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 53 YEARS, THAT'S MOMENTOUS.

I KNOW THERE'S NOTHING BUT GREAT THINGS AHEAD FOR THIS PROGRAM UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP.

WHAT I'M GOING TO DO IS I'M GOING TO BRING HIM UP.

MY CIRCUMSTANCES GETTING HERE, I HAD A LOT OF DOUBT.

YOU KNOW, I HAD A LOT OF SLEEPLESS NIGHTS, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT, AT THIS POINT OF MY CAREER, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? WHEN I GOT THIS OPPORTUNITY, IT WAS LIKE A SECOND CHANCE OF LIFE.

IT WAS LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR.

IT SEEMED LIKE I WAS RESUSCITATED.

I AM SO PROUD TO BE THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

MY STAFF AND THESE YOUNG MEN, AS MUCH AS EVERYONE THINK THAT I'VE HELPED THEM, THEY HAVE TRULY HELPED ME.

IT'S BEEN GREAT FOR MY FAMILY, AND JUST EVERYTHING.

THEY ARE STILL GOING TO COLLEGE, BUT THEY ARE ABLE TO DO THINGS A BIT DIFFERENTLY THAN SOME OF US HAD TO.

IT CHANGES EVERYTHING. IT CHANGES THEIR TRAJECTORY, AND IT JUST MAKES ME REALLY GRATEFUL THAT I'M WHERE I AM.

THE PILLARS THAT ARE DRIVING OUR FOCUS IN OUR WORK TO MAKE SURE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS ARE POISED FOR SUCCESS.

AT CROWLEY ISD, WE BELIEVE IN GOING BEYOND THE STATE MANDATED CCMR STANDARDS.

WE TRULY BELIEVE IN GIVING OUR STUDENTS THE SKILL SETS OF ADAPTABILITY, MINDSETS, AND SKILLS SO THAT THEY CAN THRIVE IN THE EVER THRIVING WORLD.

BY STARTING EARLY, WE'RE ENABLING OUR STUDENTS TO HAVE THE FOUNDATION FOR LONG TERM SUCCESS AND ENSURING STUDENTS HAVE WHAT THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE THEIR POST SECONDARY GOALS.

TO ADVANCE OUR FUTURE READY INITIATIVE, WE DEVELOP FUTURE READY PATHWAYS.

THESE PATHWAYS SPEAK SPECIFICALLY TO CROWLEY ISD STUDENTS, HELPING THEM UNDERSTAND THE SPECIFIC ACTIONS AND GOALS THAT IT TAKES.

FOR THOSE STUDENTS THAT ARE NOT ON TRACK, WE'VE CREATED INDIVIDUALIZED PLANS OF SUPPORT TO HELP THEM BE READY TO GRADUATE FUTURE READY, AND MEET THOSE CCMR STANDARDS.

ADDITIONALLY, WE'RE LOOKING AT IDENTIFYING OUR STUDENTS IN 8TH GRADE THAT MAY BE A CANDIDATE TO JUMP START THEIR FUTURE READINESS A LITTLE BIT EARLIER.

THE EARLIER WE START, THE BETTER OFF OUR STUDENTS ARE.

ANOTHER INITIATIVE IS OUR ALIGNMENT THROUGH COMMUNICATION.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IS ESSENTIAL WHEN WE'RE TALKING TO PARENTS AND WE'RE TALKING TO STUDENTS, AND WE'RE TALKING TO THE COMMUNITY, ENSURING THAT OUR PARENTS, STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY ARE ALL GETTING THE SAME MESSAGE THE SAME WAY, AND GETTING THE SAME UNDERSTANDING FROM THE MESSAGE IS PARAMOUNT TO OUR SUCCESS.

WE HAVE INTRODUCED A CCMR DEPARTMENTAL CALENDAR TO COORDINATE ACROSS ALL OF THE DEPARTMENTS THAT ARE TOUCHING CCMR SO THAT WE CAN KNOW WHEN THEY'RE ON THE CAMPUSES SPEAKING WITH PARENTS OR WHEN THEY'RE SPEAKING WITH STUDENTS, IF THERE'S ANY COMMUNICATIONS THAT NEED TO GO OUT TO THE PARENTS AND STUDENTS, IF THERE'S ANY WAY WHERE WE CAN ADVERTISE OR WE NEED TO ADVERTISE THIS INFORMATION, THAT WE'RE AHEAD OF IT, AND WE'RE MAKING SURE THAT OUR PARENTS ARE AWARE AND THEY'RE INFORMED SO THAT WE CAN HAVE BETTER PARTICIPATION AND SO THAT WE CAN HAVE PARENTS REALLY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR THIS WONDERFUL INFORMATION.

THEN YESTERDAY WAS THE FAFSA COMPLETION COOKIES AND COCOA WITH OUR COUNSELORS, WHICH IS A BIG EVENT BECAUSE FAFSA IS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION OR FEDERAL FORMS. THAT GIVES STUDENTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLEGE TO GET SOME MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT WITH THAT SO THEY CAN HELP PAY OFF LOANS AND GET SOMETHING STARTED WITH THAT.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT Y'ALL BUT COOKIES AND COCOA, IS A PRETTY GOOD INCENTIVE FOR ME.

THIS REALLY REQUIRES SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO BE RATED ON VARIABLE METRICS.

THEY'VE HAD DIFFERENT NUMBERS IN DIFFERENT YEARS.

THIS YEAR WE HAD 21 METRICS THAT REALLY RATE THE MANAGEMENT OF OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT'S FINANCIAL RESOURCES.

REALLY THE OBJECTIVE OF THE FIRST RATING IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY EXPANDED THIS ACCOUNTABILITY RATING TO INCLUDE FINANCIAL SERVICES.

INITIALLY, IT WAS REALLY SPECIFIC TO ACADEMIC SERVICES.

I'M HERE TONIGHT TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE AND TO RECOGNIZE AN IMPORTANT EVENT THAT TOOK PLACE RECENTLY IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT WAS FIRST BROUGHT UP BY SECRETARY ROBINSON AND THEN MENTIONED BY TRUSTEE HALL, NAMELY THE YOUTH ENGAGED SUMMIT HELD FROM DECEMBER 5TH TO DECEMBER 7TH.

THE FOCUS OF THIS EVENT WAS ON ENGAGING THOSE STUDENTS WHO ACCOUNT FOR A DISPROPORTIONATE SHARE OF DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS WITHIN OUR DISTRICT.

STUDENTS WHO DESPITE THEIR STRUGGLES ARE NOT DEFINED BY THEIR MISTAKES, BUT ARE FULL OF POTENTIAL.

OVER THE COURSE OF THREE DAYS, THESE STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES WERE EQUIPPED WITH VALUABLE TOOLS AND RESOURCES THAT WILL HELP THEM RESOLVE CONFLICTS, BUILD COPING SKILLS AND ULTIMATELY FIND THEIR VOICES.

THE SUPPORT PROVIDED WAS NOT ACADEMIC.

BUT IT WAS HOLISTIC, OFFERING PRACTICAL AND EMOTIONAL STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM.

WHAT STRUCK ME THE MOST HAPPENED ON FRIDAY.

IT WAS A REALIZATION THAT THESE STUDENTS WERE NOT TROUBLEMAKERS, WERE NOT BAD KIDS.

THEY'RE JUST YOUNG PEOPLE FULL OF PROMISE WHO MADE MISTAKES.

MISTAKES THAT WITH THE RIGHT SUPPORT CAN BECOME STEPPING STONES TOWARDS GREATER RESILIENCE AND GROWTH.

THEY'RE INTELLIGENT, THEY'RE COMPASSIONATE, AND THEY'RE EAGER TO SUCCEED, AND THEY ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE FUTURE OF CROWLEY.

I WANT TO EXPRESS MY DEEPEST APPRECIATION FOR MISS KIM BUKEHALL AND HER TEAM FOR THEIR TIRELESS EFFORTS.

THEY TRULY EMBODY THE SPIRIT OF CROWLEY ISD'S COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING THE WHOLE CHILD.

I HEAR THAT EVERY DAY ALL DAY WITH THE RELATIONSHIPS THAT THE STUDENTS HAVE WITH NOT ONLY THE STAFF, BUT ALSO THE STUDENTS.

LAST YEAR, WE HAD TWO STUDENTS COME TO YOUR SCHOOL BOARD AND ADDRESSED WHAT IT MEANS TO THEM TO BE PART OF THE CLASSROOM.

I HAVE STUDENT AIDS, THEY'LL COME TO CLASS, AND SOMETHING MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IN CLASS, BUT THEY GET HAPPY.

MY KIDS WILL DO FACE TO FACE, HUG, DO THEIR NAILS AND A SOCIAL INTERACTION THAT I CANNOT EVER IMAGINE AND I ENJOYED MY JOB, I ENJOYED MY KIDS.

AS YOU KNOW, I'VE GOT TEACHERS THAT HAVE A BAD DAY AND THEY'LL COME TO MY ROOM, AND THEY'LL START LAUGHING AND THEN THEY GO.

I'VE GOT PEER PARTNERS COMING TO MY ROOM EVERY DAY TO EAT LUNCH WITH MY KIDS AND TO SOCIALIZE WITH THEM.

WE HAVE A SITUATION THAT'S GOING ON WITH RELATIONSHIPS AND SO ON.

WE HAVE ONE YOUNG LADY THAT CAME TO ME, AND WE KNOW AT END OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, YOU LOSE A LOT OF YOUR FRIENDSHIPS, AND YOU NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN.

I'VE SEEN SOME AT MY 40 YEAR REUNION THAT I HADN'T SEEN SINCE GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL.

YOU HEARD THE TWO MEMBERS THAT WERE SERVED ON THE COMMITTEE AND THEIR JUST EXCITEMENT TO SEE THINGS THAT STUDENTS SHARED, AS WELL AS PARENTS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, FACULTY MEMBERS, AND DISTRICT LEADERS.

WE'RE JUST REALLY EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO BRING THAT TO YOU TONIGHT.

ONCE WE GET TO IT, IT LOOKS LIKE A VERY BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED BROCHURE, BUT A LOT OF BLOOD, SWEAT, TEARS, AND INGRAINMENT WENT INTO THAT PROCESS TO REALLY MAKE SURE THAT IT WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOR CROWLEY ISD.

I'M JUST GOING TO SPEAK TO THE ACTUAL PROCESS THAT THE DISTRICT HAS GONE THROUGH, AND JUST ALSO TO COMMEND YOU FOR THE COURAGE TO BE ABLE TO LET IT BE A COMMUNITY DESIGN STRATEGIC PLAN.

IT'S A LOT EASIER TO BE ABLE TO GO BEHIND CLOSED DOORS AND TO COME UP WITH A PLAN FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS OF THE DISTRICT THAN IT IS TO REALLY INVITE THE COMMUNITY AND THE DISTRICT AND SCHOOL STAKEHOLDERS AND STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT PROCESS.

THAT'S EVIDENT BY YOUR STUDENT TRUSTEES OVER HERE AS WELL THAT YOU ALL VALUE.

THAT'S BEEN AMAZING.

WE STARTED THIS PROCESS IN AUGUST AND WE DID FOCUS GROUPS, WHICH ARE HOMOGENEOUS GROUPS OF PEOPLE THAT WE'VE REALLY BEEN ABLE TO ENGAGE WITH AND ASK SPECIFIC INPUT QUESTIONS, AND WE ALSO DID AN ONLINE SURVEY THAT WAS SENT OUT TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY TO BE ABLE TO SOLICIT AS MUCH INPUT AS POSSIBLE.

WE DESIGNED A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT REPORT THAT REALLY AGGREGATED ALL OF THOSE INPUTS AND THAT WAS USED WITH THE ACTUAL STRATEGIC DESIGN COMMITTEE.

IN SEPTEMBER WE CAME TOGETHER.

WE DIDN'T ABANDON THE BELIEFS CALL TO ACTION, LEARNER PROFILE, AND GOALS FROM THE PREVIOUS STRATEGIC PLAN, BUT WE WANTED TO DO WAS ANCHOR BACK TO THEM AND LEVERAGE THEM AND ALSO REALLY BEGIN TO DO A SWOT ANALYSIS TO SEE WHAT HAS CHANGED IN THOSE FIVE YEARS, HELLO PANDEMIC.

MANY THINGS HAVE CHANGED.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE REALLY WERE THINKING ABOUT WHAT'S WORKING WELL, BECAUSE WE WANT TO KEEP DOING THAT, AND WE ALSO WANT TO THINK ABOUT WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO WE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PROPEL THE DISTRICT FORWARD.

THE TEAM CAME UP WITH CRITICAL OPPORTUNITIES, WHAT WERE THE CRITICAL MOVES THAT THE DISTRICT COULD MAKE TO CONTINUE THRIVING, AND WE ALSO THEN REALLY DEVELOPED SPECIFIC RESULTS WHICH ARE CHECKPOINTS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU'RE MAKING PROGRESS TOWARDS YOUR GOALS.

WE ALSO WANTED TO TIMELINE THOSE OUT OVER A FIVE YEAR PERIOD.

WE KNOW THAT DISTRICTS HAVE TIME, TALENT, AND TREASURE.

THROUGH YOUR INPUT, WE ALSO AS ANTHONY MENTIONED, WE'RE ABLE TO REALLY THINK ABOUT THE FOURTH GOAL INSTEAD OF KEEPING IT THE MAIN THREE, AND WE ALSO HELPED TO FACILITATE THE DESIGN OF YEAR 1 ACTION PLANS AND A RESPONSIBLE ROLL OUT OF HOW THE PLAN COULD ACTUALLY BE ROLLED OUT TO THE COMMUNITY.

ALSO SOMETHING NEW THIS YEAR, THE COMMITTEE WORKED ON WHAT WOULD BE YEAR 1 GOALS, YEAR 2, YEAR 3, AND BEYOND.

GOAL 1 WOULD CONTINUE TO BE THRIVING STUDENTS WITH SOME SPECIFIC ACTION STEPS MODIFIED FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS.

I WANT TO SPECIFICALLY POINT OUT 1.3, TO GRADUATE COLLEGE CAREER MILITARY AND FUTURE READY STUDENTS. THAT'S NEW.

GOAL 2 WOULD CONTINUE TO BE ENGAGED COMMUNITY.

THAT WE'LL PARTNER WITH FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF.

YOU CAN SEE FIVE SPECIFIC ACTION STEPS THERE.

GOING TO THE BACK, YOU WILL SEE GOAL 3 WOULD CONTINUE TO BE EMPOWERED STAFF.

THAT WE'LL EMPOWER ALL OF OUR STAFF TO MEET THE DIVERSE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS.

YOU'LL SEE THE SPECIFIC ACTION STEPS THERE AND NEW HOT OFF THE PRESSES BASED ON THE INPUT FROM THE BOARD AND BOARD PRESIDENT DAVIS, THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS TO THE COMMITTEE.

MRS. SANTIAGO MENTIONED THAT WHEN WE BROUGHT THE COMMITTEE BACK TOGETHER AND WE SAID, HERE'S WHAT THE PROPOSAL, THE HEADS WERE NODDING, EVERYONE WAS IN AGREEMENT.

THIS MADE A LOT OF SENSE BECAUSE GOAL 4 NOW SAYS A SAFE AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT THAT WE WILL PRIORITIZE THE WELLNESS OF ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF.

THOSE ITEMS YOU SEE THEY'RE LISTED 4.1-4.4, THOSE WEREN'T NEW.

THOSE WERE JUST UNDER PREVIOUS GOALS 1, 02, AND 3 THAT THE COMMITTEE WORKED ON THIS YEAR, BUT THE IDEA TO BRING THEM OUT TO GOAL 4 EXCITED EVERYONE AND WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO PRESENT THIS TO YOU TONIGHT, BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE ABOUT VISION 2030.

BOARD, I WOULD LIKE TO BRING YOU BACK TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE OF WHY WE DECIDED TO EVEN BEGIN FOCUSING ON MIDDLE SCHOOL.

IF YOU CAN REMEMBER AND WE LOOKED AT ELEMENTARY COMPARED TO HIGH SCHOOL, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS PER PUPIL FUNDING WAS A LITTLE BIT OFF, A LITTLE LESS THAN THE ELEMENTARY AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

OUR CHARGE HAS BEEN TO LOOK FOR FUNDING SPECIFICALLY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HELP WITH EQUALIZING THE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND BRINGING UP THE ACCOUNTABILITY CORRELATION.

I'M SORRY, OUR PRESENTATION ALIGNED TO ALL THREE OF OUR BOARD GOALS.

BUT OUR FIRST GRANT OPPORTUNITY TONIGHT IS FROM BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION.

I AM EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY THAT WE RECEIVED FROM THE BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION.

THIS GRANT IS THE AI GRANT, WHICH IS AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, AND WE'RE RECEIVING HALF A MILLION DOLLARS FOR THIS GRANT FOR OVER TWO YEARS.

THIS WILL BE A MATH FOCUS GRANT THAT'S GOING TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE REAL TIME FEEDBACK AND COACHING TO TEACHERS.

TEACHERS WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER TO BE IN THIS RESEARCH STUDY THAT GATES FOUNDATION AS WELL, ALONG WITH TEACHFX A RESEARCH COMPANY WILL WORK TOGETHER TO HELP TEACHERS FOR THEM TO LISTEN TO WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THEIR CLASSROOM AND GET THAT REAL TIME FEEDBACK COACHING.

THIS GRANT WILL LIVE IN THE CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT WITH MISS ANNA ROE, AND IT WILL ALSO HELP TEACHERS TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

THEY'LL TAKE THEIR DATA AND BE ABLE TO BRING IT BACK TO THEIR PLC TO GET REAL TIME INFORMATION BACK.

WE'RE STILL RESEARCHING IT AND DEVELOPING WHAT IT'S GOING TO TALLY LOOK LIKE, BUT IT'S GOING TO BE A PILOT AND I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES.

ONCE ALL THAT DATA IS CORRELATED, WE'LL BRING IT BACK AND THE ADMIN TEAM WILL BE ABLE TO USE THAT TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

IT'S A RESEARCH STUDY AS WELL AS INNOVATIVE PRACTICES THAT WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT BEING ABLE TO LEND OUT TO OUR SCHOOLS.

ONE THING, MISS ROE AND I WERE ABLE TO MEET WITH THE GATES FOUNDATION LAST WEEK, THEY SAID, HOW IS CROWLEY ISD ABLE TO DO SUCH INNOVATIVE THINGS? WE HAVE A REALLY HARD TIME GETTING OUR OTHER DISTRICTS ACROSS THE NATION TO PARTICIPATE AND THAT WAS A NO BRAINER FOR ME.

WE HAVE AN AMAZING BOARD AND A SUPERINTENDENT THAT IS REALLY INNOVATIVE.

I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU PERSONALLY, THANK YOU, BOARD BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT OTHER DISTRICTS AREN'T AS INNOVATIVE BOARDS, OR AS INNOVATIVE AS YOU ALL ARE IN ALLOWING US TO DO SOME REALLY INNOVATIVE AND COOL THINGS, SO I JUST WOULD LIKE TO SAY, THANK YOU.

OUR NEXT GRANT IS THE PARTNERSHIP TEXAS GRANT.

I KNOW THAT YOU ALL HAVE SEEN THESE BUCKETS BEFORE THROUGHOUT OUR 882 PARTNERSHIP.

WE STARTED HERE LIKE LAST YEAR, LITERALLY AT THIS TIME IN DECEMBER, WHERE YOU ALL APPROVED US BEING ABLE TO HAVE A POLICY PUT IN PLACE.

WE TOLD YOU WITH THE POLICY WOULD BE ABLE TO COME DIFFERENT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES.

TONIGHT BOARD, WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS HIGHLIGHTED LEVEL, THIS IS ONE OF THE FUNDING BUCKETS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE WHICH IS OUR PARTNERSHIP GRANT, WHICH EACH MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPS WILL RECEIVE $900,000.

THIS GRANT WILL HELP US BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PERSONNEL FOR PLANNING, WE'LL BE ABLE TO USE THIS GRANT FOR STARTUP EQUIPMENT SUCH AS TECHNOLOGY AND FURNITURE, AND BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUSES.

ALONG WITH PAUL QUINN PARTNERSHIP, WE'VE ALIGNED WHAT THIS REALLY NEEDS TO LOOK LIKE, AND THIS GRANT AWARD WILL BE A $3.6 MILLION ACROSS FOR ALL OF OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

TOGETHER, BOARD WITH BOTH OF THOSE GRANTS, WE WILL RECEIVE $4.1 MILLION FOR THOSE GRANTS.

THROUGH THE PROCESS, WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING ARE SOME SURVEYS, AND THE BOARD, BASICALLY, WHAT YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO IS TO START WITH PROBABLY CLOSE TO 65 DIFFERENT PRIORITIES, AND THEN THROUGH THE SURVEY PROCESS, YOU DWINDLED IT DOWN TO 37.

MOVING ON TO THE NEXT SLIDE, YOU SCALED IT DOWN TO SEVEN POSSIBLE PRIORITIES FOR THE 2025, 2026 LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

FUNDING AND SAFETY WERE THE KEY THINGS THAT ARE PRIORITIES THAT YOU ALL CHOSE TO FOCUS ON.

I'LL JUST READ THROUGH THESE REAL QUICK.

BUT FUNDING, BASICALLY, YOU WANT TO ENSURE THAT ALL SCHOOLS RECEIVE STATE FUNDING AND ARE HELD TO THE SAME TRANSPARENCY REQUIREMENTS, ACCOUNTABILITY AND STANDARDS OF ENROLLMENT PRACTICE AS PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

THE NEXT ONE IS IN REGARDS TO SAFETY.

PROTECTING STUDENTS AND STAFF BY IMPLEMENTING SAFETY MEASURES COMPLETELY SUPPORTED BY STATE FUNDING THAT MEET THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF THEIR CAMPUSES AND COMMUNITIES, INCLUDING FLEXIBILITY TO ADDRESS MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS AND STUDENT BEHAVIOR.

THE NEXT ONE IS SUPPORT LOCAL CONTROL OF SCHOOL FINANCES AND OPPOSE MEASURES THAT ERODE LOCAL DISCRETION.

THE NEXT ONE, ADVOCATE FOR AN ADEQUATE AND EQUITABLE SCHOOL FINANCE SYSTEM THAT RAISES PER PUPIL FUNDING TO THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

THE NEXT ONE, ADVOCATE FOR INCREASED STATE FUNDING FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS, ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WITH THE GREATEST NEEDS.

THE NEXT ONE IS IN REGARD TO THE TEACHER RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND ADVOCATING FOR A FEW COMPONENTS.

ONE TO BE THE CONTINUATION OF CURRENT DEFINED BENEFIT PENSION PROGRAM FOR TRS MEMBERS, AND ALSO ADVOCATING FOR COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENTS THAT WOULD INCREASE ANNUALLY, AND ALSO ADJUSTMENTS MADE FOR THE TRS-ACTIVECARE MEDICAL INSURANCE AND TRS-CARE MEDICAL INSURANCE.

THE NEXT ONE, A REQUIREMENT THAT THE BASIC ALLOTMENT BE ADJUSTED EACH BIENNIUM BASED ON THE RATE OF INFLATION.

THOSE ARE THE SEVEN PRIORITIES THAT RECEIVE FIVE OR MORE VOTES FROM YOU ALL AS A BOARD FROM THE SURVEY, AND YOU CAN SEE THE SURVEY RESULTS IN THE LINK THAT SAYS ROUND 2 SURVEY RESULTS, AND UNANIMOUSLY, YOU ALL CHOSE TO OPPOSE VOUCHERS, TAX CREDITS, TAXPAYER SAVING GRANTS, TUITION, REIMBURSEMENTS, OR ANY OTHER PROGRAMS THAT DIVERT PUBLIC TAX DOLLARS TO PRIVATELY-RUN SCHOOLS.

THIS IS JUST A PREVIEW OF SOME PROPOSED CISD LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES IF YOU CHOOSE TO MOVE FORWARD TODAY OR IF YOU CHOOSE TO GO BACK AND REDEFINE IT AS A BOARD AND FURTHER DEVELOP.

I WAS HOPING THAT OUR FOCUS WOULD BE MORE TARGETED JUST SO THAT THERE WERE TWO, MAYBE THREE THINGS THAT THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT WE ABSOLUTELY WANT TO SEE HAPPEN.

WITH SEVEN, JUST TO ME, IT SEEMS RELATIVELY BROAD STILL.

I'M NOT SURE TRUSTEES AWARE ANYBODY ELSE FALLS ON THAT SPECTRUM IF MORE IS BETTER OR LESS, BUT I JUST WANTED TO LIFT THAT FOR OUR CONSIDERATION, BECAUSE THIS IS A CONSIDERATION OF POSSIBLE ACTION ITEM. SECRETARY ROBINSON.

BUT THESE ARE OUR POSITIONS UNDER THOSE TWO THINGS ON SEVEN DIFFERENT INITIATIVES YOU WILL THAT WILL BE COMING UP UNDERNEATH THESE TWO THINGS.

WE CAN DEFINITELY CLEAN IT UP AND MAKE IT MORE IN ALIGNMENT WITH WHAT'S EASY TO DISTRIBUTE AND EASY TO READ.
