EARLY LEARNING LAYS THE FOUNDATION FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS, AND WE'RE COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING EVERY CHILD.

THE CREATING POSSIBILITIES RESOURCE AND TRANSITION FAIR WAS AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY FOR FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS TO LEARN ABOUT AVAILABLE RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES, BOTH DURING SCHOOL AND AS THEY TRANSITION INTO POST-GRADUATION LIFE.

PARTICIPANTS HAVE THE CHANCE TO CONNECT WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND EXPERTS WHO PROVIDED VALUABLE INSIGHTS AND SUPPORT.

THE FAIR ALSO INCLUDED A FAMILY PICNIC, GAMES, FACE PAINTING, MUSIC, AND A SENSORY ZONE.

THE ENERGY WAS UNFORGETTABLE AS PARTICIPANTS COMPETED IN ADAPTIVE PE ACTIVITIES AND FIELD EVENTS.

FILLING THE DAY WITH LAUGHTER, CHEERS AND ENDLESS SMILES, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PLAYS A VITAL ROLE IN PROMOTING HEALTH, BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND FOSTERING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND THE ABILITY GAMES TRULY EXEMPLIFY THESE VALUES.

ADMINISTRATORS AND TEACHERS, AND SHOWCASE THE PROGRESS MADE THIS YEAR.

TWO SENIORS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS THEIR EXPERIENCE IN THE GO CENTER AND THEIR EXCITING COLLEGE PLANS.

AS OF APRIL 3RD, THEY HAD REGISTERED OVER 46 STUDENTS TO VOTE.

WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOUR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, WAY TO GO.

AND MY SECOND ONE ON APRIL THE 2ND, CROWLEY ISD PROUDLY CELEBRATED PARAPROFESSIONALS APPRECIATION DAY BY HONORING THE DEDICATED INDIVIDUALS WHO SUPPORTED OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF WITH CARE, CONSISTENCY, AND COMMITMENT.

OUR PARAPROFESSIONALS PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN CREATING INCLUSIVE, ENGAGING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS WHERE EVERY STUDENT CAN THRIVE.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNERS! MAGGIE FLORES, A THIRD GRADER AT PARKWAY ELEMENTARY, EARNED FIRST PLACE WITH HER DISH LIL MAC TOSTADA. FAIZA AKANI, A FOURTH GRADER FROM DAVID L WALKER ELEMENTARY, WON SECOND PLACE WITH SPAGHETTI AND HOMEMADE MINI MEATBALLS. AND PRESLEY B BENBACK, A FIFTH GRADER FROM BESS RACE ELEMENTARY, TOOK THIRD PLACE WITH CHICKEN AND POTATOES WITH A DIJON CREAM SAUCE. WE ARE SO PROUD OF ALL THE YOUNG CHEFS WHO SHOWCASED THEIR SKILLS AND PASSION IN THE KITCHEN, AND I HAD THE AMAZING PRIVILEGE OF SERVING AS ONE OF THE JUDGES FOR THAT EVENT.

WE WERE ABLE TO DINE SUFFICIENTLY OFF OF THE CULINARY CREATIONS OF OUR STUDENTS.

WHAT CAN I DO TO SUPPORT THESE KIDS? CAN I BUY THEIR ARTWORK? THEY DO PHENOMENAL WORK. THEY DO. I SAT THROUGH THE QUIZ BOWL.

I SAID, OKAY, THESE KIDS ARE SMART TO LOOK AT THIS.

AND SO AS A MEMBER OF THE SOCIETY, THE TARRANT COUNTY PEARLS, THE SOCIETY, INC., WHICH IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS ARTS FOR YOUTH FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES, YOUTH THAT MAY BE AT RISK AND YOUTH THAT MAY OTHERWISE NOT BE INTRODUCED TO THE ARTS, NOT LEARN TO APPRECIATE THE ARTS. AND AS WE ALL KNOW, THE ARTS DO AMAZING THINGS FOR EXPANDING OUR CAPACITY FOR CRITICAL THINKING, FOR DEVELOPMENT, OUR FINE MOTOR SKILLS, AND SO MANY MORE SKILLS.

SO OFTEN WE THINK ABOUT STEM, STEM, STEM. LET'S THINK ABOUT STEAM, STEAM, STEAM.

BECAUSE SOME OF OUR BEST MATHEMATICIANS HAPPEN TO BE MUSICIANS AND ARTISTS, IT'S THE CONCEPTUALIZATION OF THE BRAIN.

SO ANYWAY, I KEPT THAT IN THE BACK OF MY BRAIN.

SO IN THE SOCIETY CAME ABOUT. IT'S AN ORGANIZATION THAT'S NOT NEW.

IT'S BEEN AROUND FOR ABOUT 40, OVER 40 YEARS.

THE TARRANT COUNTY PEARLS CHAPTER IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD, SO IT'S NEW.

AS A MEMBER, WE AS A GROUP, WE RECEIVED A GRANT, AN EQUITY GRANT TO PROMOTE ART GOES WITH OUR PURPOSE, RIGHT? ART IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. ART FOR STUDENTS THAT ARE AT RISK MEANS THAT WE IF WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY, WE CAN GET KIDS TO ART EVENTS, WE CAN PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THEM AND SO FORTH.

AND SO THAT GRANT ACTUALLY IS WHAT ENABLED US TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE STUDENTS OF THE BLACK HISTORY COMPETITION.

AND SO WE'RE QUITE HONORED TO DO IT AND TO GIVE WE SAID WE WOULD AWARD ANY OF THE FIRST PLACE STUDENTS, ELEMENTARY OR SECONDARY. THE AWARD, THE SCHOLARSHIP.

AND WE HAVE HAD PARENTS REACH OUT. SO I'M EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

AND THEN ANY REMAINDER THAT WE HAVE FOR THAT IN THAT, THAT THAT POT OF MONEY WILL PUT IT TOWARD CROWLEY'S BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM.

AND SO WE DO WANT TO SUPPORT THE EFFORTS HERE, AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THE STAFF HERE AS WE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP FINE ARTS PARTNERSHIPS. AND WE'VE ACTUALLY HAD SOME GOOD MEETINGS.

THIS WILL BE PAID FOR, FUNDED WITH BOND 2023 FUNDS TO ENHANCE AND IMPROVE OUR WIRELESS WI-FI NETWORK ACROSS THE DISTRICT AT EVERY FACILITY. SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. THERE'S BEEN A BID PROCESS UNDERWAY IN THE TECHNOLOGY TEAM WILL BE BRINGING THAT RECOMMENDATION BACK AT THE END OF THE MONTH.

AND FINALLY, WE'VE ALSO BEEN GOING THROUGH AN INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ADOPTION FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR.

OUR OFFICE OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, LED BY MISS ANNA ROWE, HAVE BEEN WORKING HARD ON THAT, GETTING COMMUNITY INPUT. YOU'LL REMEMBER AT OUR LAST BOARD MEETING, THERE WERE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS THERE IN THE FOYER THAT THE COMMUNITY HAD BEEN INVITED TO REVIEW. AND WE WERE HAVING A CONVERSATION ABOUT IS A STRATEGIC PLAN A REALLY NECESSARY YOU KNOW, HOW DO YOU MAKE SURE THE STRATEGIC PLAN DOESN'T JUST BECOME A DOCUMENT THAT IS DORMANT AND ON A SHELF? WE GO THROUGH THESE PROCESS, WE GO THROUGH THESE PROCEDURES TO DEVELOP GOALS AND VALUES AND BELIEFS.

AND WE HAD THIS DEBATE. AND SO WHAT I, WHAT WE ENDED WAS THAT A STRATEGIC PLAN, THE VALUES, THE VISIONS, THE GOALS THAT ALL THOSE THINGS ARE THERE NECESSARY.

BUT THEY DON'T REALLY BECOME IMPORTANT UNTIL THERE'S AN AREA OF CONFLICT OR AN AREA WHERE THERE MAY BE A LITTLE BIT OF UNCLARITY OR A LACK OF CLARITY.

AND SO WHAT I REALIZED IS THAT THAT WAS TRUE.

AND SO WE HAVE RECENTLY ENGAGED IN A PROCESS WHERE WE'RE EVALUATING OUR PROGRAMS. YOU ALL KNOW THAT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, WE DID OUR MID-YEAR BUDGET REVIEW.

AND SO WE BEGIN TO LOOK AT OUR PROGRAMS. AND SO WE BEGIN TO LOOK AT OUR DIFFERENT PROGRAMS IN OUR DISTRICT.

AND WE HAD TO MAKE SOME DECISIONS. AND IT WAS THAT'S WHERE IT GOT TO WHERE IT BECAME A LITTLE CLOUDY FOR US.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, AS WE GO, WE DID OUR EVALUATION WITHIN OUR DISTRICT WITH OUR ADMINISTRATORS, AND WE HAD SOME CONVERSATIONS. AND THEN WE LOOKED AT OUR STRATEGIC PLAN.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS ABOUT OUR STRATEGIC PLAN IS THE FIRST THING THAT THAT WE SAW IS THAT THE BYLINE WAS THAT IT'S A COMMUNITY INSPIRED PLAN.

AND I BEGIN TO LOOK AT THE THINGS THAT WE SAID WERE IMPORTANT, WHAT WE BELIEVED.

WE TALKED ABOUT TRANSPARENCY AND MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE ENGAGING WITH OUR COMMUNITIES.

AND WE TALKED ABOUT STUDENTS HAVING VOICE AND CHOICE.

AND SO ALL OF THESE ARE WORDS THAT WE USE. AND WE CAME UP WITH DURING THIS PROCESS.

BUT WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY LAST WEEK AND THE LAST TWO WEEKS TO REALLY PUT OUR STRATEGIC PLAN IN PRACTICE.

ONE OF OUR KEY GOALS AND OUR STRATEGIC PLAN MENTIONED THE NEED TO HAVE AN ENGAGED COMMUNITY.

AND SO AS WE BEGIN TO LOOK AT THE OR EVALUATE OUR COLLEGE PREP ACADEMY IN ITS CURRENT STATE WE REALIZE THAT FROM AN ECONOMIC STANDPOINT AND WITH OUR BUDGET, IT WAS GOING TO CREATE A SIGNIFICANT BUDGET CHALLENGE FOR US.

BUT WE HAD A CHANCE TO HEAR FROM SOME OF OUR PARENTS, AND WE TOOK TIME TO MEET WITH OUR PARENTS, TO MEET WITH OUR TEACHERS AND MEET WITH OTHERS THAT ARE DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THIS PROGRAM.

AND MAN, I WAS REALLY, REALLY IMPRESSED AND APPRECIATIVE OF THE PASSION AND THE INFORMATION THAT WAS SHARED BY OUR PARENTS ABOUT THE VALUE OF THIS PROGRAM. EVERYTHING CAN BE MEASURED, BUT NOT EVERYTHING THAT CAN BE MEASURED CAN REALLY BE A VALUE JUST BY THOSE NUMBERS.

AND SO WE LOOKED AT THOSE NUMBERS AND IT WAS A CHALLENGE. BUT WHEN I LISTENED TO THE THINGS THAT THE PARENTS WERE SAYING, LISTEN TO WHAT KIDS WERE SAYING, SAW WHAT THEY WERE DOING, I'M LIKE, MAN, WE HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS EXPENSE BECOMES MORE OF AN INVESTMENT.

AND SO WE WENT BACK TO OUR STRATEGIC PLAN. AND THE STRATEGIC PLAN TALKED A LOT ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT BY THE YEAR 2030 THAT WE HAVE THIS INNOVATIVE, WE HAVE THESE INNOVATIVE EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS AND WE HAVE THESE THRIVING STUDENTS. AND WE BEGIN TO LOOK AT, HEY, HOW CAN WE ADDRESS BOTH THE DESIRE OF OUR PARENTS AND OUR STUDENTS TO HAVE THIS ENGAGING ELEMENTARY EXPERIENCE WHERE WE'RE INTRODUCING THEM TO COLLEGE AND CAREERS AND THE FUTURE AS EARLY AS PRE-K. THEY HAD DONE A THEY'VE DONE A GREAT JOB WITH OUR CURRENT PRE-K TO COLLEGE PREP ACADEMY MODEL.

BUT THE QUESTION WAS, HOW DO WE ENSURE THAT MORE STUDENTS ARE ENGAGED? THE TEAM, OUR TEAM, THEY DID AN AWESOME JOB. SPENT THE ENTIRE DAY AND A HALF JUST REALLY BRAINSTORMING DIFFERENT ALTERNATIVES.

AND WHAT WE'VE DETERMINED IS THAT WE CAN BOTH MEET THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS AND THE FISCAL RESPONSIBLE NEEDS OF OUR DISTRICT BY MOVING THE COLLEGE PREP ACADEMY AT, AT THE ONE THAT'S CURRENTLY HOUSED AT POYNTER.

WE CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF BOTH STUDENTS AND OUR DISTRICT, AND MEET THE FINANCIAL NEEDS OF OUR DISTRICT AND ALIGN AND MEET THE GOALS OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN BY MOVING IT TO A BAYLOR ELEMENTARY, OUR NEW CAMPUS.

THAT HELPS US IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. THERE ARE SEVERAL BENEFITS TO MOVING OUR COLLEGE PREP ACADEMY AT BAYLOR.

OUR COLLEGE PREP ACADEMY TO BAYLOR UNIVERSITY.

SO A COUPLE OF THE WHAT DID I SAY, BAYLOR UNIVERSITY.

AS WE BEGIN TO LOOK AT THE INNOVATIVE DISTRICT, INNOVATIVE SCHOOL MODELS, WE LOOKED AT KIND OF THE PRIVATE SCHOOL STRUCTURE WHERE WE HAVE A LOWER SCHOOL, WHERE THAT LOWER SCHOOL CAN REALLY FOCUS IN ON THESE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING NEEDS OF STUDENTS AND REALLY BUILD UP THEIR FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS, AND THEY CONTINUE TO EXPOSE THEM WITH A REAL SPECIFIC FOCUS ON LITERACY.

WE FELT LIKE THAT WAS GREAT. THAT WAS A DEFINITELY A GOOD MODEL THAT WE SHOULD EVALUATE.

AND SO WE LIKE TO MAKE IT A REASSIGNMENT TO THE PRINCIPAL OF THE LOWER SCHOOL FOR K-2.

FOR THE COLLEGE PREP ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. AND SO THEN WE ALSO THOUGHT ABOUT THIS IDEA OF EXPANDING THE COLLEGE AND CAREER CULTURE TO THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE AND REALLY HAVING A PRINCIPAL WHO HAD REALLY EXPERIENCE AT REALLY DOING THAT KIND OF WORK, IMPLEMENTING AVID STRATEGIES, IMPLEMENTING COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL REFORM AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL.

AND SO WE ALSO WOULD HAVE A RECOMMENDATION FOR A PRINCIPAL, A HEAD PRINCIPAL OF BAYLOR ELEMENTARY.

AND SO TONIGHT WE'RE EXCITED THAT WE TOOK SOME TIME.

WE LISTENED TO OUR PARENTS, WE HEARD OUR PARENTS, WE HAD SOME SOLUTIONS.

IN AUGUST, COMING TAUGHT AT COMO MONTESSORI IN FORT WORTH ISD, A LOWER ELEMENTARY TEACHER THERE AND WAS TRAINED THAT SUMMER PRIOR TO STARTING THERE. I BELIEVE VERY STRONGLY IN MONTESSORI, AND I'M VERY EXCITED TO GET TO CONTINUE THE WORK THAT MISS DELGADO HAS STARTED THERE.

WE WERE KIND OF REMINISCING TODAY. WE'VE BEEN KIND OF ALL OVER TEXAS VIEWING SCHOOLS, AND WE HAD KIND OF AN INCIDENT IN SAN ANTONIO.

I WON'T MENTION WE GOT LOST GOING BACK TO OUR HOTEL ON FOOT, BUT IT'S JUST PART OF THAT EXPERIENCE WE HAD TOGETHER IN DESIGNING THAT SCHOOL.

SO I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT CONTINUING THAT WORK.

WE HAD SOME PARENTS VISIT TODAY, AND IT WAS JUST REMARKABLE TO GO INTO CLASSROOMS AND SEE SUCH THRIVING, HAPPY CHILDREN. AND I'M ALSO EQUALLY EXCITED TO WORK WITH MR. MORENO, WHOSE DAUGHTER ATTENDS CMA. AS WE JUST CONTINUE THE WORK AND TRY TO MAKE IT THE SCHOOL THAT IS KIND OF THE GOLD STANDARD FOR MONTESSORI. I WILL SAY WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF BEING A VERIFIED MONTESSORI SCHOOL BY AMERICAN MONTESSORI SOCIETY, WHICH IS THE NATIONAL CREDENTIALING BODY FOR MONTESSORI.
