SO AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THE NINTH GRADE CAMPUSES WE HAVE A TOTAL OF 600 STUDENTS THAT MEET ON A WEEKLY BASIS IN THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, AND RIGHT NOW WE'RE CELEBRATING STEM DURING SCIENCE CLASSES THROUGHOUT THE MONTH. ALL RIGHT, AND SO NOW I WANT TO BE ABLE TO ALSO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE NATIONAL ROBOTICS ASSOCIATION. WE DO HAVE THIS YEAR 22 MIDDLE SCHOOLERS THAT WERE ABLE TO COME AND BE PART OF THAT. AS YOU CAN SEE IN SOME OF THE PICTURES THAT WE HAVE OR THAT PICTURE THAT WE HAVE THERE, THE STUDENTS ENGINEER, THEY PUT THINGS TOGETHER. WE DID HAVE A VIDEO I WANTED TO SHOW YOU, BUT IT IS A VERY FIERCE COMPETITION THAT WE HAVE STUDENTS GOING THERE AND THEY COMPETE IN [01:15:05] THE REGIONAL. THEY ALSO COMPETE STATEWIDE, AND SO WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE 22 OF OUR STUDENTS TO GO AND COMPETE IN VEX ROBOTICS. ALL RIGHT. OUR NEXT ONE THAT WE HAVE, WE'RE VERY EXCITED BECAUSE THIS YEAR WAS OUR FIRST YEAR TO HAVE OUR SOCIETY OF WOMEN IN STEM. SO IF MY WOMEN IN STEM CAN PLEASE COME UP, THESE LADIES HERE ARE THE FIRST ONES TO BE ABLE TO OPEN THIS KIND OF CHAPTER, I'M GOING TO TELL YOU. YEAH. I'M GOING TO TELL YOU THAT IT WAS A CHALLENGE TO START OUR SOCIETY OF WOMEN IN STEM, AND THE REASON FOR THAT IS BECAUSE IT FIRST, IT WAS A NEW JOURNEY, AND LATER ON, WE UNDERSTOOD THAT THE REASON THAT THERE'S NOT A LOT OF WOMEN IN STEM IS BECAUSE IT IS A MALE DOMINATED CAREER IN STEM, AND HERE IS OUR PRESIDENT. SHE CAN COME UP. SHE DID HAVE A SHORT SPEECH TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE EXPERIENCES THAT WE HAD THIS YEAR. ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. MY NAME IS [INAUDIBLE] . I AM YOUR CROWLEY ISD WOMEN IN STEM PRESIDENT. MY BEST EXPERIENCE LEADING THE SOCIETY OF WOMEN IN STEM WAS WITNESSING THE CONNECTION OF COMMUNITY AND CONFIDENCE IN ACTION. ONE MOMENT THAT STANDS OUT TO ME WAS WHEN WE HOSTED THE MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS FROM ACROSS CROWLEY ISD. THE GIRLS CAME IN, THEY HAD THEIR QUESTIONS. THEY HAD THEIR DREAMS. THEY HAD THEIR THEIR INSPIRATIONS. WE HAD A GOOD TIME TEACHING THEM ABOUT THAT. THEY'RE NOT ALONE, AND IT WAS INSPIRING TO WATCH OUR MEMBERS STEP INTO MENTORSHIP ROLES AND EMBRACE AND ENCOURAGE THESE YOUNG LADIES TO EMBRACE CURIOSITY AND ASSURING THEM THAT THEY HAVE A PLACE IN STEM. THEY ARE A PART OF A COMMUNITY. THEY ARE A PART OF A COMMUNITY WHERE GIRLS AND WOMEN UPLIFT EACH OTHER AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER, AND I THINK THAT DAY SHOWED ME THAT IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE A COMMUNITY WHERE EVERYONE FEELS SUPPORTED AND VALUED. LEADING THIS CLUB HAS BEEN A JOURNEY OF GROWTH AND DISCOVERY, EVEN FOR MYSELF. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE AND THE BEGINNING OF SOCIETY OF WOMEN IN STEM. I WAS NOT PLANNING ON GOING TO COLLEGE. I WAS NOT PLANNING ON DOING ANY SORT OF COLLEGE ACTIVITIES, AND I MET DR. VALENCIA AND I AM LIKE SUPER GRATEFUL THAT I MET HER. SO WE'RE GOING TO BE CONSTANTLY TEACHING. REMEMBER, WE'RE TEACHING STUDENTS, YOU KNOW, TO BE SUPERIOR IN THEIR ENDEAVORS AND THEIR TASKS AND WHATEVER THEY WANT TO BECOME IN LIFE. SO WE ARE WORKING ON THAT DILIGENTLY AND WE WILL KEEP EVERYBODY UPDATED, BUT MEN IN STEM IS ALSO A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION. THAT ENCOMPASSES A LOT OF THINGS AS FAR AS CAREER ORIENTED TASKS, YOU KNOW, THAT YOU'RE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ON A REGULAR BASIS, AND IT ALSO INCLUDES A LOT OF ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS, YOU KNOW, THAT ARE THAT ARE THAT ARE THAT ARE POSSIBLE, YOU KNOW, FOR OUR STUDENTS AS WELL. THERE ARE SEVERAL FEDERAL FUNDS THAT WILL BE IN JEOPARDY IF WE DECIDED TO TAKE A PRINCIPLED STAND AGAINST THIS, BUT WE ARE RECOMMENDING, I AM RECOMMENDING THAT WE MAKE THESE MODIFICATIONS UNDER DURESS AND YEAH, UNDER UNDER COERCION FROM FROM THE GOVERNMENT.
