THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS ALMOST HERE, JUST OVER A WEEK AWAY THIS YEAR IN CROWLEY, I SEE THAT'S TUESDAY AUGUST 12TH.

TONIGHT, WE HAVE SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS AND SOME IMPORTANT DATES TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL IN OUR COMMUNITY TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS READY TO GO ON THOSE RED CARPETS THE NEXT TUESDAY, AUGUST 12TH.

NEXT WEEK, WE DO HAVE SOME IMPORTANT EVENTS HAPPENING AT ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES.

EVERY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN CROWLEY ISD THAT HAS NOT STARTED YET.

MARY HARRIS STARTED BACK IN JULY, BUT ALL OF THE OTHER ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WILL HAVE MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 7TH FROM 5-6:30.

OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS ARE GOING TO HAVE SCHEDULE PICKUP NIGHTS AND HOW THEY'RE DOING THAT AGAIN THIS YEAR IS THEY'RE TARGETING SPECIFIC GRADES ON SPECIFIC NIGHTS, SIXTH GRADES ON TUESDAY, SEVENTH GRADE ON WEDNESDAY AND EIGHTH GRADE ON THURSDAY.

IF PARENTS NEED TO COME ON A DIFFERENT NIGHT, THEY CAN, BUT THEY'RE TRYING TO TARGET IT ON THOSE GRADE LEVEL SPECIFIC NIGHTS.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE PICK UP NIGHTS ARE ALSO GOING TO BE NEXT WEEK ON THURSDAY FROM 6-7:30 AT ALL OF THE HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES.

ANOTHER FUN EVENT, WE SENT OUT SOME CALENDAR VITE FOR TO LET YOU KNOW, COMING UP OUR VERY FAVORITE MEET THE EAGLES AND MEET THE PANTHERS NIGHTS.

MET THE EAGLES IS GOING TO BE ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20TH AND THAT'S GOING TO BE OVER HERE AT THE MULTI PURPOSE STADIUM BECAUSE IF THE CONSTRUCTION HAPPENING AT CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL, WE'LL BE TALKING ABOUT THAT IN A MINUTE.

THEN MEET THE PANTHERS NIGHT WILL BE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13TH AT SIX AT THE NORTH CROWLEY GYM. BIG IMPORTANT REMINDER.

WE'VE BEEN DOING LOTS OF CALL OUTS AND TEXT MESSAGE AND REMINDERS FOR OUR FAMILIES, MAKING SURE THEY KNOW ALL STUDENTS MUST BE REGISTERED FOR SCHOOL.

IF YOU ATTENDED CROWLEY ISD LAST YEAR, YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR REGISTRATION IS UP TO DATE THERE IN SKYWARD.

NEW STUDENTS CAN ALSO ENROLL.

WE'RE VERY PROUD THIS YEAR, THOUGH, THAT WAS STILL MORE THAN A WEEK TO GO BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS.

MORE THAN 75% OF OUR RETURNING STUDENTS HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED AND THEY'RE SET TO GO.

WE'RE CONTINUING THOSE TARGETED MESSAGES TO ALL OF THEM.

AS OF YESTERDAY, END OF DAY, WE'RE AT 16,296 STUDENTS ENROLLED.

THAT IS MORE THAN 150 MORE THAN THE SAME DAY LAST YEAR.

WE KNOW THAT NUMBER IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO CLIMB AS WE CLOSER TO THE FIRST DAY SCHOOL IN THAT FIRST MONTH OF SCHOOL.

WE'RE GOING TO GET CLOSE TO THAT 70,000 AGAIN.

BUT RIGHT NOW WE'RE ALREADY 150 STUDENTS AHEAD WHERE WE WERE THIS TIME LAST YEAR.

FOR OUR EMPLOYEES, OUR HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT TEAM HAS BEEN WORKING HARD AND WE HAVE 2,432 STAFF EMPLOYED IN CROWLEY ISD.

YESTERDAY, WE WELCOMED A COUPLE HUNDRED OF THEM TO OUR NEW PROFESSIONALS ORIENTATION.

THE RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY WILL BE HELD FRIDAY, AUGUST 1ST AT 10:00 A.M.

THERE AT THE BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS, SO TRUSTEES GAVE YOU SOME INFORMATION ABOUT ARRIVAL, THE CELEBRATION IS GOING TO BE GREAT.

WE'LL CUT THE RIBBON THERE IN THE CAFETERIA, THEN OFFER TOURS OF THE SCHOOL AND THEN IN THE GYMNASIUM.

TWO SPECIAL THINGS WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT, WE FOUND OUT THAT GRANNY BAYLOR, THE MOTHER OF THE FOUR BAYLOR SIBLINGS, HAS A FAMOUS LEMON CAKE.

ONE OF HER RELATIVES IS GOING TO BE HANDING OUT SLICES OF GRANNY BAYLOR'S FAMOUS CAKE TOMORROW.

THEN ALSO, THE BAYLOR FAMILY SAT DOWN WITH MS. MIDDLETON FOR A PHENOMENAL FEATURE VIDEO ABOUT THEIR FAMILY THEY'RE IMPACTING CROWLEY ISD.

THAT'S GOING TO BE SHOWING IN THE GYMNASIUM FOR EVERYONE THERE AND THEN WE'LL POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND PUT IT OUT LIKE WE CANNOT WAIT FOR THE BAYLOR STORY TO BE TOLD TO THE ENTIRE WORLD.

OTHER BOND PROJECT WE'RE CAPPING AT CROWLEY ISD, IT'S NOT JUST NEW CAMPUSES, WE'RE RENOVATING AND EXPANDING OUR CURRENT CAMPUSES.

NORTH CARL HIGH SCHOOL IS GOING THROUGH A SIGNIFICANT EXPANSION.

WE'RE GOING TO BE MAKING SURE WE'RE COMMUNICATING REGULARLY WITH OUR COMMUNITY, OUR PARENTS, OUR STUDENTS, OUR STAFF, JUST ABOUT ANY CHANGES TO TRAFFIC PATTERNS, BUILDING PATTERNS, ANYTHING THEY NEED TO KNOW.

ONE OF THOSE THINGS IS JUST LETTING PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE PROGRESS THAT'S HAPPENING, AND TO PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH THIS.

THEN ALSO THREE OF OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ARE GOING THROUGH SIGNIFICANT EXPANSIONS, DEER CREEK, SYCAMORE, AND MEADOW CREEK WITH EXPANDED CAFETERIAS, KITCHEN SPACES, PARENT DROP OFF LANES, BUS LANES, PARKING, SO WE'RE EXCITED, AND WE'RE ASKING EVERYONE JUST TO BE PATIENT A LITTLE LONGER.

AS WE CONTINUE THAT WORK, IT WILL BE WORTH IT.

THE STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT HAS PRESENTED THAT FOR YOUR REVIEW AND APPROVAL TONIGHT AND ALSO THAT STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT.

WE ALSO WANT TO CONTINUE TO REMIND ALL OF OUR FAMILIES CLEAR BACKPACKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL SECONDARY STUDENTS.

AN INITIATIVE THAT SERVES TO PROVIDE STATE OF THE ART EQUIPMENT IN EVERY CLASSROOM IN THE DISTRICT IN THE FORM OF INTERNET EQUIPPED INTERACTIVE DISPLAY BOARDS. THERE'S ONE RIGHT THERE.

THE INSTALLATION AND INTEGRATION OF THESE BOARDS HIGHLIGHT ALL FOUR OF OUR DISTRICT GOALS.

GOAL 1, THRIVING STUDENTS, GOAL 2 AN ENGAGED COMMUNITY, GOAL 3 EMPOWERED STAFF, AND GOAL 4 FOR A SAFE AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT.

WHEN THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ROLLS AROUND, WE SHOULD BE FINISHED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF PHASE 1 OF THIS THREE PHASE PROJECT.

YOU CAN SEE ON THIS SLIDE, THE CAMPUSES IN PHASE ONE ARE AT OUR ELEMENTARIES, BAYLOR ELEMENTARY, SYCAMORE, DEER CREEK, AND MEADOW CREEK.

THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS WILL BE HF STEVENS, CROWLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL, SUMMER CREEK MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND RICHARD ALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND OUR HIGH SCHOOLS IN PHASE 1 WILL BE NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL, NORTH CROWLEY NINTH GRADE, AND CROWLEY NINTH GRADE.

THESE INSTALLATIONS ARE SET TO BE COMPLETED BY THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES THAT LOOK LIKE? WELL, THERE ARE 182, 65 INCH WALL MOUNTED DISPLAY BOARDS THAT WILL BE GOING UP IN OUR ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS. THERE WERE 423, 75 INCH WALL MOUNTED DISPLAY BOARDS IN OUR SECONDARY CLASSROOMS, AS OF RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE THREE, 86 INCH DISPLAY BOARDS ON ROLLING CARTS WITH MORE COMING SOON THAT SHOULD BE READY WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK.

THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT AND THE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY TO GET THESE BOARDS UP AND RUNNING FOR OUR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS BEFORE CLASSES BEGIN.

AS A TESTAMENT TO THEIR WORK ON ALL OF THEIR WORK.

ALL OF OUR NEW PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION PRESENTERS, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO UTILIZE THE BOARD TO PROVIDE NEW STAFF WITH CRITICAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO MENTION THAT OUR PRESENTERS, THE FIRST TO FIRE UP THESE BOARDS FOR ANY INSTRUCTION, COMMITTED TO LEARNING THE NEW TECHNOLOGY IN A VERY LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME IN ORDER TO PRESENT THESE SESSIONS.

IT'S TAKEN A MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE AND DEPARTMENTS WORKING TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

I'M NOT EXPECTING IT TO BE THAT BAD ALL DAY, BUT DURING RUSH HOUR, TIMES WHEN KIDS ARE TRYING TO GET HOME, THEY IS GOING TO BE PEOPLE DRIVING THROUGH THERE.

AND SO YOU NEED TO BALANCE THE NEEDS OF THIS CORD FOR MOBILITY, BUT ALSO WALKABILITY AND ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL.

AND SO THAT'S WHY IT'S SUPER IMPORTANT TO GET AHEAD OF WHAT'S COMING, TO COME UP WITH SOME CROSS SECTION THAT'S ADDRESSING THOSE SAFETY CONCERNS THAT MAY COME UP AS A RESULT OF THIS AREA.

HOUSE BILL 1481 REQUIRES SCHOOL BOARDS TO ADOPT A WRITTEN POLICY PROHIBITING STUDENTS FROM USING PERSONAL COMMUNICATION DEVICES, INCLUDING CELL PHONES AND SMARTWATCHES ON SCHOOL PROPERTY DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.

TO BE IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF HB 1481, TEXAS EDUCATION CODE 33832, WE NEED TO BRING BEFORE YOU AS A BOARD FNCE LOCAL, WHICH WOULD MAKE THAT PRACTICAL POLICY FOR CROWLEY ISD.
