THE RECRUITERS WERE VERY COMPLIMENTARY OF OUR STUDENTS AND FACILITIES AND WERE ABLE TO ENJOY TRUE CROWLEY ISD HOSPITALITY.

MR. PARK WAS A DEDICATED SERVANT LEADER IN CROWLEY ISD, FAITHFULLY SERVING ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR 30 YEARS 1971-2001.
HIS LEGACY OF COMMITMENT TO STUDENTS AND PUBLIC EDUCATION LIVES ON THROUGH THE SCHOOL THAT BEARS HIS NAME. I HAVE ONE MORE.

TONIGHT TO OUR COMMUNITY AND TO THE PEOPLE IN THE AUDIENCE, WHAT I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU IS THAT IN CROWLEY ISD, OUR MISSION SIMPLY SAYS THAT WE WILL ENSURE EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION FOR ALL STUDENTS SO THEY WILL ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.IN ORDER FOR US TO DELIVER ON OUR MISSION AND IN ORDER FOR US TO REALLY MAKE OUR MISSION BECOME REAL, WE HAVE TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES THAT TAKE US NOT JUST IN THE CURRICULUM, BUT OUTSIDE THE CURRICULUM AND BEYOND.
WHAT WE KNOW IS THAT BEING A PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM, OUR NUMBER ONE CHARGE IS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE DOING THINGS FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD.
WE BELIEVE AND I BELIEVE THAT IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY STUDENT IN OUR DISTRICT, EVERY CULTURE, EVERY ETHNICITY, FEELS CONNECTED AND A PART OF THE WORK THAT WE DO.
WE SAY IN CROWLEY ISD, THAT DIVERSITY IS OUR SUPERPOWER, THAT DIVERSITY AND EXCELLENCE IS NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE, AND WE STAND ON THAT.
WE BELIEVE THAT IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO RECOGNIZE ALL OF OUR ETHNICITIES, ALL OF OUR DIVERSITY, ALL OF OUR HISTORIES.

I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE CLEAR THAT WHAT I RECOGNIZE AND I KNOW IS THAT THIS COUNTRY WAS CREATED AND BUILT ON REALLY SACRIFICES MADE BY ALL ETHNICITIES.
IT IS IMPORTANT IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM THAT WE TAKE THE TIME TO REALLY RECOGNIZE THAT AND THAT WE TAKE THE TIME TO LEAN INTO THAT.
MY GOAL IS WHEN STUDENTS LEAVE US THAT THEY HAVE BOTH THEIR ROOTS THAT THEY UNDERSTAND WHERE THEY'VE COME FROM, BUT THEY ALSO HAVE WINGS.
THEY CAN GO FORWARD AND KNOW THAT THEY CAN DO GREAT WORK.
IN OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE BOWL, WE GET OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT CHALLENGES AND SUCCESSES AND REALLY THINGS THAT THE HISPANIC HERITAGE HAS OVERCOME WHILE THEY HAVE BEEN ON THE PATH TO SUCCESS.
WHAT WE KNOW IS THAT THE MORE WE LEARN ABOUT EACH OTHER, THE MORE WE LEARN ABOUT EACH ETHNICITY AND EACH CULTURE AND WHAT THEY HAVE BROUGHT TO OUR GREAT COUNTRY, THE BETTER WE CAN ACTUALLY MAKE SURE THAT OUR KIDS CAN GO FORWARD AND SEE THE SAME AND DO THE SAME WITH THEMSELVES.
WE WANT TO GIVE OUR KIDS ROOTS, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE WINGS.
WE WANT KIDS TO BE ABLE TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR.
I WANT THEM TO SEE PEOPLE THAT LOOK LIKE THEM THAT HAVE DONE GREAT WORK FOR THIS COUNTRY, BECAUSE FOR ME TO EXPECT THEM TO LEAVE US TO BE ABLE TO DO GREAT WORK, THEY HAVE TO HAVE SEEN THEMSELVES IN THERE.
THESE HISPANIC HERITAGE BOWLS, AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY BOWLS, AND OTHER CULTURE BOWLS GIVES US A CHANCE TO STEP BEYOND THE STATE CURRICULUM AND STEP BEYOND THAT AND REALLY RECOGNIZE THE FOLKS WHO HAVE BUILT THIS COUNTRY.
IN CROWLEY ISD, WHEN WE SAY DIVERSITY AND EXCELLENCE ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.

THE CELEBRATION BEGINS WITH CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS THAT HIGHLIGHT SIGNIFICANT HISTORICAL FIGURES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS, WHICH ARE SHARED THROUGH DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS.
IN ADDITION, CAMPUSES HAVE ACCESS TO A COLLECTION OF BOOKS, HONORING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH, ALONG WITH INSTRUCTIONAL CONNECTIONS TO MATH, SCIENCE, LITERATURE, SPORTS, AND THE FINE ARTS.

MS. PETES CONTINUES TO WORK WITH THE POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE, ITEMS 11.3, 11.4, BOARD POLICY RELATING TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE USE OF THAT HERE IN CROWLEY ISD.

WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME TONIGHT TALKING ABOUT A LOT OF THINGS.
WHAT I WANT YOU TO KNOW IS OVER THE NEXT MONTH AND A HALF, THE MAJORITY OF OUR BOARD BEADS WE'LL BE SPEAKING TO OUR IMPROVEMENT PLANS THAT WE'RE LAYING OUT FOR ACADEMICS.
BUT OUR NUMBER 1 GOAL THIS YEAR, IS THAT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS WILL GROW BY MORE THAN A YEAR OVER A YEAR'S TIME.
AT THE NEXT BOARD MEETING, YOU'LL HEAR HOW EACH CAMPUS IS WORKING TO ENSURE THAT THEIR CAMPUSES ARE SCORING A B OR HIGH.
WE'LL TAKE SOME TIME TO REALLY LEAN IN AND HEAR FROM THE PRINCIPALS, OR PRINCIPAL SUPERVISORS AND THE CAMPUSES ON WHAT THEY'RE DOING SPECIFICALLY TO ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES THAT WE HAVE.
WE HOPE THAT ON OCTOBER 9TH, THAT'S GOING TO BE A MEETING WE I BELIEVE WILL START AT FIVE, I BELIEVE.
