FIRST OF ALL, I APOLOGIZE FOR MISSING LAST MONTH, BUT I WELCOME YOU ALL BACK, CROWLEY ISD.

IT'S GREAT TO SEE OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF BACK IN THE CLASSROOMS, RECONNECTING WITH FRIENDS AND READY TO CONTINUE THE 2025, 2026 SCHOOL YEAR.

OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, WE WILL SEE GREAT ACADEMIC GROWTH, ENJOY ENGAGING EVENTS AND SEEING THE CLASS OF '26 WALK THE STAGE AT GRADUATION.

AS A BOARD, WE ARE EXCITED TO LEAD OUR DISTRICT THIS SPRING SEMESTER FOR OUR DISTRICT. WELCOME BACK, YOU ALL. [APPLAUSE]

THE COMMUNICATION IN CROWLEY ISD IS GETTING AN UPGRADE THIS SCHOOL YEAR, AS WE ARE INTRODUCING PARENT SQUARE TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR FAMILIES TO RECEIVE INFORMATION, UPDATES, MESSAGES, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS, ALL IN ONE PLACE, USING THE PREFERRED LANGUAGE AND CONTACT MESSAGE.

WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF TRAINING OUR TEACHERS AND STAFF ON THE TOOL AND WE WILL HAVE A FULL ROLL OUT TO FAMILIES SOON.

WE ARE SO VERY GRATEFUL TO EVERY STUDENT ATHLETE, COACH, FAMILY, FAMILIES, AND FANS WHO TRAVELED TO CROWLEY AND EXPERIENCED OUR STATE OF THE ART FACILITIES.

AS HE'S COMING, [APPLAUSE] MOST PEOPLE IF THEY'RE RECEIVING A NATIONAL OR A STATE LEVEL AWARD, THEY WOULD LET EVERYBODY KNOW, BUT I FOUND OUT JUST BY HAPPENSTANCE THAT HE'S BEING INDUCTED INTO THE TEXAS TRACK AND FIELD COACHES ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAME.

[APPLAUSE] ABSOLUTELY. WE'RE DEFINITELY EXTREMELY PROUD OF HIM, BUT JUST LISTENING AT THESE STATS, HE HAS SEVEN STATE TITLES IN TRACK, FIVE RUNNER UP TITLES, 22 DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS, 15 REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

HE WAS A NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL COACH OF THE YEAR, AND ALSO THE TEXAS BLACK SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE IN 25 AS WELL.

HE'S BEEN INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME IN TEXAS, WE ARE PROUD OF YOU AND PROUD OF THE LEADERSHIP THAT YOU PROVIDED TO CROWLEY ISD AS WELL.

WE'RE SO PROUD OF OUR KIDS, AND FOOTBALL IS JUST A SMALL PART, WE PLAY REALLY, REALLY GOOD FOOTBALL BECAUSE WE GOT KIDS WITH GREAT CHARACTER, AND WE APPRECIATE YOU GUYS FOR ALLOWING US TO DO THOSE THINGS.

MY GOAL AS THE RECRUITING COORDINATOR AND FUTURE READY COORDINATOR IS TO MAKE SURE WE GET 25 PLUS TO SCHOOL.

IT'S HARD WITH THE PORTAL AND SO MANY COLLEGE GUYS THAT ARE JUST TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER HOME.

BUT WE'RE GOING TO DO OUR BEST TO GO AND GET THOSE KIDS A PLACE TO PLAY.

WE GOT KIDS THIS WEEK, I THINK WE GOT ABOUT EIGHT KIDS THAT WENT ON COLLEGE VISITS.

OUR GOAL IS 25 PLUS EVERY YEAR.

WE HAVE A B ABOVE AVERAGE PROGRAM.

THEY KNOW THEY CAN'T MAKE ANYTHING UNDER A B.

I JUST WANT TO SAY KUDOS TO THE YOUNG MEN BECAUSE IT'S VERY OBVIOUS TO ME THAT YOU ARE LEARNING WHAT IT IS THE COACHES ARE TRYING TO TEACH YOU.

>> MR. PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS, I'M EXCITED TONIGHT TO RECOMMEND TO YOU ALL COACH DEMARCUS HARRIS AS THE NEXT COACH AT NORTH CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

MR. HARRIS HAS BEEN IN THE STATE PLAYOFFS SINCE 2019 FOR SIX OUT OF THE SEVEN YEARS 2019-2025.

HE MADE THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN TWO OF THOSE YEARS, AND THEY WERE THE STATE CHAMPIONS, AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE WERE THE STATE CHAMPIONS IN 2024.

HE WAS A VITAL PART OF THAT TEAM.

THE LAW REQUIRES EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HOLD A PUBLIC MEETING, WHICH CAN BE A PART OF A REGULAR MEETING.

TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE PUBLIC TO COMMENT ON THE REPORT AT THE PUBLIC MEETING, AND TO MAKE AVAILABLE A PUBLIC FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT REPORT THAT INCLUDES A DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT'S FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE BASED ON INDICATORS PROVIDED BY THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY.

YOUR EXPENDITURES ENDED AT THAT 185.9 AGAINST A BUDGET OF 186.9.

THAT WAS A VAN A POSITIVE VARIANCE OF JUST OVER $1 MILLION.

AGAIN, YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE SOME TRANSFERS IN OF 6.3, AND THEN THAT BROUGHT YOU TO YOUR NET CHANGE IN FUND BALANCE OF 1.1, WHICH BROUGHT US AGAIN TO THAT ENDING FUND BALANCE OF 36.25.

NEXT, THIS IS JUST A TREND OF YOUR GENERAL FUND FUND BALANCE.

NEXT YEAR WE'LL BE ADDING A COUPLE OF NEW COURSES.

THE FIRST ONE IS ACTUALLY A CURRENT CTE COURSE.

IT'S STATISTICS AND BUSINESS DECISION MAKING.

BUT THROUGH TARLETON, WE'RE ABLE TO ADD THAT AS A DUAL CREDIT COURSE FOR ALL STUDENTS.

THIS COURSE IT'S A MATH FOCUS COURSE, FOCUS ON FINANCE, MARKETING, DATA, ANALYSIS, AND REAL WORLD APPLICATION.

IT'S A YEAR LONG COURSE, AND IT DOES COUNT AS A MATH CREDIT AS WELL AS THREE HOURS OF DUAL CREDIT IN THE MATHEMATICS AREA.

THE SECOND COURSE WE'RE ADDING, WE'RE VERY EXCITED.

IT IS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AND READING AREA, BUT IT IS CALLED COLLEGE READINESS AND STUDY SKILLS.

THIS IS BUILT ON PUBLIC SPEAKING AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND REALLY WORKED WITH TARLETON TO BUILD THIS WITH A STRONG ALIGNMENT TO AVID.

STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP ACADEMIC DISCOURSE, ARGUMENTATION, AUDIENCE ANALYSIS, AND PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION.

THIS WILL ALSO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THREE HOURS OF DUAL CREDIT AND ALSO MET A CCMR INDICATOR.

SO THESE COURSES WILL EXPAND OUR ACCESS TO CCMR. THEY'LL STRENGTHEN OUR COLLEGE READINESS, AND THE ENSURE OUR STUDENTS WILL GRADUATE WITH

WE ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO ALL OF OUR CLASSES AND IMPLEMENT THE CCMR. WE UTILIZE OUR FUTURE READY STUDENTS TO EXPLAIN THE IMPORTANCE OF CCMR. THEY TOLD US THE INDICATOR AS FAR AS HOW THEY WAS ALREADY CCMR MET, AND I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO A CCMR PRESENTATION WITH OUR STAFF.

WITH THAT BEING STATED, WE HAD ALL STAKEHOLDERS, PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND EVERYONE ON BOARD, AND WE ALL KNOW THAT COMMUNICATION IS A BIG COMPONENT.

OUR STUDENTS WANTED THEIR FIELD TRIPS BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE BEEN A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT BEFORE.

WITH THAT BEING SAID, WE AGREED WITH OUR STUDENTS THAT WE CHALLENGED THEM.

WE SAID, IF YOU ARE ABLE TO MEET THE 88% ACCOUNTABILITY STATE GOAL BY OCTOBER 1ST, WE WILL OPEN UP FUN THINGS TO DO.

WITH THAT BEING STATED, THEY DID EXACTLY THAT, AND WE WERE ABLE TO NOT ONLY HAVE FIELD TRIPS, BUT WE ALSO HAD A CCMR EXPO AT THE CTE CENTER WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO GET 32 REPRESENTATIVES TO COME IN.

WITH THAT CCMR EXPO, OUR STUDENTS WERE EXPOSED TO FINANCIAL LITERACY.

THEY WERE ABLE TO OPEN UP A BANK ACCOUNT.

WE HAD LAW ENFORCEMENT THERE, CHIEF MATHIS, THAT TALKED ABOUT LAW ENFORCEMENT PROTOCOL AND ENCOUNTERS.

WE HAD COLLEGES AND MILITARY PERSONNEL THERE TO TALK TO THEM ABOUT THE EXPOSURE AND THE BENEFITS OF MILITARY.

WE ALSO HAD A FRIENDLY COMPETITION WITHIN OUR CAMPUS, WHERE WHEN WE HAD THE BUY IN, WE HAD EACH CLASS TO COMPETE AND THE CLASS THAT EXCEEDED THE GOAL FIRST, RECEIVED RAISE AND CANE.

THAT WAS A CELEBRATION FOR THEM AS WELL.

WITH THAT BEING STATED RIGHT NOW, WE'RE AROUND 90%.

WE UNDERSTAND THAT TRACKING AND MONITORING IS EFFECTIVE FOR US TO REACH THE GOAL.

RIGHT NOW, WE'RE AT 45 STUDENTS LEFT, WHICH IS 9% REMAINING FOR US TO GET 100%.

WE ARE OFFERING SATURDAY TSI BOOK CAMPS FOR OUR STUDENTS WHO ARE CLOSE TO PASSING THE TSI, SO WE CAN MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE IMPLEMENTING THOSE INTERVENTIONS TO GET THEM OVER THE HUMP.

WE'RE KEEPING AN EYE ON OUR COLLABORATIVE CAMPUSES, WHICH IS OUR BRIDGES STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY WILL BE COUNTED IN OUR ACCOUNTABILITY AS WELL TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE COMPLETING A TEXAS COLLEGE BRIDGE.

WE HAD A SLOW START, BUT THAT WAS INTENTIONAL BECAUSE WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THE KIDS WEREN'T DOING IT AT HOME AND WEREN'T TAKING IT SERIOUSLY.

WE MADE SURE THEY DID IT IN CLASS.

AS A RESULT, WE STARTED TO SEE SOME IMPROVEMENT IN TSI.

WHEN THEY PASS THE TSI MEANS THAT IT GOES STRAIGHT INTO CREDIT BRAND COURSES IN COLLEGE.

THAT WAS OUR FOCUS.

BUT AGAIN, THAT WORK REALLY STARTS A LOT IN THE SUMMER WHEN WE HAVE OUR INTENTIONAL PLANNING WITH OUR MASTER SCHEDULE.

WE'RE ALSO FOCUS ON PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE ALGEBRA AND ENGLISH COMP, DEPENDING ON WHERE THE KID IS.

HE WENT AHEAD AND WENT TO TCC AND SEPTEMBER TO TAKE IT BECAUSE I THINK IT WAS STILL IN THE WINDOW TO CHANGE SCHEDULES EARLY IN THE YEAR.

HE GREW 60 POINTS, SO THAT WAS GOOD.

BUT HE DIDN'T MEET THAT COLLEGE'S REQUIREMENTS.

BUT HE SAID I FORGOT A LOT OF THAT.

HAD HE TAKEN IT WHEN HE TOOK THE TSI, HE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE REMEMBERED.

THAT WAS ONE OF THE THINGS.

I KNOW YOU MENTIONED TSI THEN MOVING THE PASSERS, BUT AS STUDENTS TAKE THE TSI AND PASS, GO AHEAD AND SIGN THEM UP FOR SAT AND HAVE THEM TAKE IT WHILE EVERYTHING STILL FRESH IN THEIR BRAIN.

>> I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO ANNA ROE AND DR. MAYFIELD THE BOARD FOR APPROVING I EXCEL.

I EXCEL IS THE PATHWAY THAT WE USE FOR KIDS THAT HAVE ALREADY PASSED A TSI BECAUSE IT CREATES A PATHWAY FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO PREPARE FOR THE SAT.

I ACTUALLY GOT A LETTER FROM A PARENT PROBABLY ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO, I THINK IN DECEMBER, AND THE FEEDBACK WAS LIKE, HEY, I FELT LIKE MY KID WASN'T PREPARED FOR COLLEGE.

I SHARED THAT E MAIL WITH OUR STAFF LIKE, LOOK, THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT PASSING A COURSE.

WE'VE GOT TO MAKE SURE THAT WHEN OUR KIDS WALK OUT OF HERE, THEIR COLLEGE AND CAREER READY, WHETHER THEY WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE OR NOT.

LIKE WHETHER YOU CHOOSE TO GO OR NOT, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU'RE READY LEAVING HERE.

THAT'S WHY OUR FOCUS HAS REALLY BEEN ON TSI, AND I'M PROUD TO SAY, LAST YEAR, WE ENDED AT 43%, THIS YEAR ALREADY AT 38% A MIDDLE OF THE YEAR.

WE'RE REALLY BEEN PUSHING THAT COLLEGE MINDSET SO THEY UNDERSTAND IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT PASSING THE TEXAS COLLEGE BRIDGE.

AS I LISTEN TO YOUR PRESENTATION AND THE ONE BEFORE YOU, IT JUST REMINDS ME OF HOW STUDENTS WILL RISE TO OUR EXPECTATIONS.

THAT'S WHY IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR OUR STUDENTS BECAUSE I HEARD YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE STUDENTS THAT THOUGHT THAT WAS A THROWAWAY COURSE AND DIDN'T BOTHER TO TAKE IT.

BUT ONCE THEY REALIZED IT, AND I'M SURE YOU EXPRESSED THE EXPECTATION THAT THEY WOULD ENROLL IN THAT COURSE AND THAT THEY WOULD SUCCEED IN THAT COURSE.

JUST HAVING HIGH EXPECTATIONS OF OUR STUDENTS GOES A LONG WAY. THANK YOU.

EVERY YEAR, WE LOOK AT OUR DATA FROM THE NINTH GRADE AND KIDS THAT PERFORM WELL, WE PUT THEM IN ADVANCED COURSES.

WHEN THE PARENTS CALL, I HAVE TO GO TO MCCULLEY, SHE EXPLAINS TO THEM, HEY, THIS IS WHAT YOUR CHILD MADE IN ALGEBRA OR IN BIOLOGY, OR WHATEVER, THEY NEED TO BE IN THIS COURSE.

WHEN WE EXPLAIN THAT, PARENTS ARE REALLY EXCITED.

WHAT WE'VE SEEN IS A GROWTH IN OUR ADVANCED COURSES BECAUSE WE'RE I GUESS THE WAY [INAUDIBLE] TELLING.

ROBINSON WAS SAYING PARENTS, IT'S CRITICAL TO GET THE INFORMATION TO THE PARENTS SO THAT THEY KNOW AHEAD OF TIME THE TOWN HALLS, THE CALLS, AND ALL OF THAT.

MAYBE T3 OR WHOEVER TALKS ABOUT THESE COLLEGE PROGRAMS, HOW YOU CAN ALIGN YOUR INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION WITH COURSES THAT COLLEGES HAVE.

YOU'RE NOT APPLYING TO A SCHOOL THAT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE THAT PROGRAM.

YOU DON'T WANT TO WASTE YOUR TWO OR FOUR YEARS GOING THROUGH THIS AND THEN YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT.

WE'RE HEADED INTO SPRING AND SO STUDENTS WHO HAVE THAT INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION FROM TCC, ENSURING THAT THEY KNOW THAT THEY CAN PARTICIPATE IN TCCS GRADUATION BECAUSE THAT WAS THE THING LAST YEAR BECAUSE MY SON WAS IN THE FIRST COHORT, AND HE GOT HIS CERTIFICATE IN THE MIL, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW HE COULD PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATION.

I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OTHER STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO APPLY.

I THINK THE DEADLINE WAS MARCH, BUT WE WEREN'T AWARE.

JUST STUDENTS WHO ARE IN THOSE CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS, IF THEY ARE GOING THROUGH TCC OR LAMAR OR WHATEVER, MAKING SURE THAT PARENTS ARE AWARE OF GRADUATION DATES, NOT JUST FOR ASSOCIATE DEGREES, TOO.
