[00:05:04] IN 2018 2019 CROWLEY ISD SAW SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN OUR OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY SCORE. IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR THE DISTRICT WAS RATED A C WITH AN OVERALL SCORE OF 70. THIS YEAR, THE DISTRICT RECEIVED A B RATING WITH A 13 POINT JUMP TO AN OVERALL SCORE OF AN 83. ALTHOUGH WE'VE ALSO SEEN SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS, THE DISTRICT REMAINED THE SAME AS THE 18-19 SCHOOL YEAR WITH THE NEEDS INTERVENTION, DETERMINATION STATUS. BASED ON THIS RATING THE DISTRICT WILL ENGAGE IN A CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PLANNING PROCESS, AND THE PRIMARY FOCUS TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE IMPROVEMENT WILL BE ENSURING THAT SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS ARE PLACED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IN THE GENERAL EDUCATION SETTING. DISTINCTION DESIGNATIONS COMPARE A CAMPUS TO 39 OTHER SCHOOLS IN TEXAS THAT SHARE SIMILAR COMPOSITION, INCLUDING SIZE, ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED PERCENTAGE, SPECIAL EDUCATION PERCENTAGE AND MORE. CAMPUSES SCORING IN THE TOP 25 PERCENT OF THEIR COMPARISON GROUP ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A DISTINCTION. CROWLEY ISD HAD NINE CAMPUSES RECEIVE 16 DISTINCTIONS IN THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR AND FIVE OF OUR CAMPUSES RECEIVED TWO OR MORE DISTINCTIONS. THOSE CAMPUSES WITH TWO OR MORE DISTINCTIONS ARE SYCAMORE ELEMENTARY, JACKIE CARDEN ELEMENTARY, OAKMONT ELEMENTARY, SUE CROUCH ELEMENTARY AND MARY HARRIS. THE NEXT FEW SLIDES LOOK AT OVERALL DISTRICT PERFORMANCE BY CONTENT AREA. YOU CAN SEE INCREASES IN NEARLY EVERY CONTENT AREA AT THE APPROACHES GRADE LEVEL STANDARD AND ACROSS ALL SUBJECTS. AND SOCIAL STUDIES HELD STEADY AT 71 PERCENT PASSING AT APPROACHES. THE SECOND LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE ON THE STAAR TEST IS THE MEET'S GRADE LEVEL STANDARD, AND THAT'S SHOWN HERE. IN FOUR OUT OF FIVE SUBJECTS TESTED THE DISTRICT AS A WHOLE. MADE GAINS IN STUDENTS PASSING AT THIS STANDARD. OUR END OF COURSE, OR EOC RESULTS ARE THE FIVE TESTS THAT STUDENTS MUST TAKE IN ORDER TO GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL. AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE ARE GAINS IN ALL CONTENT AREAS WITH SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN BIOLOGY AND U.S. HISTORY AT THE MEET'S GRADE LEVEL PERFORMANCE STANDARD. TEXAS EDUCATION CODE ALSO REQUIRES DISTRICTS TO REPORT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES DURING THEIR FIRST YEAR OF ENROLLMENT IN A TEXAS INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION. THE TABLE ON THIS SLIDE SHOWS THE PERFORMANCE OF TWO THOUSAND SEVENTEEN GRADUATES, WHICH IS THE MOST RECENT DATA AVAILABLE IN THEIR FIRST YEAR OF HIGHER ED CATEGORIZED BY GPA. THIS DATA IS AVAILABLE PUBLICLY FOR ALL DISTRICTS IN TEXAS THROUGH THE TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION COORDINATING BOARD. A FEW ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE TAPR INCLUDE AN ATTENDANCE RATE THAT'S WITHIN FOUR TENTHS OF A PERCENT OF THE STATE AVERAGE, A GRADUATION RATE THAT OUTPERFORMS THE STATE BY ALMOST 5 PERCENT AND GRADUATES ENROLLING IN TEXAS INSTITUTES OF HIGHER EDUCATION AT A RATE EXCEEDING BOTH THE REGION AND THE STATE. ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND ON THIS SLIDE IS THAT OUR ADVANCED ACADEMIC AND CTE DATA DOES LAG BY ONE YEAR IN THE TAPR. SO WE DO HAVE SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2016 17 TO 2017 18. WE SAW NEARLY A 10 PERCENT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS COMPLETING AN ADVANCED COURSE FROM 16-17 FROM 30 PERCENT TO 40 PERCENT. AND NOT ONLY DID MORE STUDENTS ENROLL IN ADVANCED COURSES, BUT THEY ALSO PARTICIPATED IN AP TESTING IN ENGLISH, MATH AND SCIENCE AT A RATE SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN THE PREVIOUS YEAR. AND WITH EVEN MORE STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN AP, WE STILL SAW AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS EARNING A 3, 4 OR 5 ON THEIR AP EXAM. FINALLY, THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS GRADUATING IN 2018 WHO COMPLETED A COHERENT SEQUENCE OF CTE COURSES MORE THAN DOUBLED FROM 16 17 TO 17 18. IN TERMS OF SCHOOL SAFETY, WE'RE PLEASED TO REPORT ZERO INCIDENTS THAT INVOLVED A FIREARM OR ILLEGAL KNIFE AND ONLY ONE INCIDENT WHICH INVOLVED THE USE OR POSSESSION OF A PROHIBITED WEAPON. FINALLY, PEIMS FINANCIAL STANDARD REPORTS FOR [INAUDIBLE] 2018 ARE SUMMARIZED HERE AND ARE ALSO AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING VIA THE TEA WEB SITE. I WANTED TO GIVE A BRIEF UPDATE TO THE COMMUNITY AND TO OUR STAFF HERE TONIGHT ON THE LONE STAR GOVERNANCE TRAINING THAT THE SCHOOL BOARD WENT THROUGH THIS PAST FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH OUR SUPERINTENDENT, DR. MCFARLAND. LONE STAR GOVERNANCE IS A TRAINING FOR SCHOOL BOARDS. AND THERE'S A LOT TO IT. ITS TWO FULL DAYS. BUT ONE OF THE MAIN TENANTS OF THIS TRAINING IS THAT STUDENT OUTCOMES DO NOT CHANGE UNTIL ADULT BEHAVIORS CHANGE. AND SO WE SPENT SOME TIME REALLY INVESTIGATING OUR ROLE IN THAT. AND LIKE ANY GIANT AND IMPORTANT AND IMPACTFUL CHANGE THAT NEEDS TO BE MADE, YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF, WHO'S THE FIRST PERSON THAT NEEDS TO MAKE THAT CHANGE. AND IN THE CASE OF THE STUDENT OUTCOMES, THE FIRST PERSON THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE IS US. SO EACH ONE OF US ON THE SCHOOL BOARD AND US AS A COLLECTIVE UNIT. SO WE SPENT SOME TIME DIGGING IN, REALLY LOOKING AT THE IDEA OF INTEGRITY AND WHAT THAT MEANS AS SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS AND OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR STUDENT OUTCOMES IN PARTICULAR. SO WE SPENT SOME TIME REFLECTING AND FURTHER DEFINING OUR ROLES IN STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. WE DID A VERY DEEP DATA DIVE INTO ALL SORTS OF DATA SIMILAR TO THE DATA THAT YOU SAW TODAY DURING OUR PUBLIC HEARING. AND WHAT YOU WILL SEE AS A RESULT OF THIS TRAINING FROM US. AND WHAT WE'RE COMMITTING TO FOR YOU IS YOU'RE GOING TO SEE A NEW AND DIFFERENT KIND OF FOCUS FROM US ON STUDENT OUTCOMES. SO YOU'RE GOING TO SEE SOME INTENTIONAL INQUIRY AND SOME INTENTIONAL REPORTING ON A VERY FEW KEY STUDENT OUTCOMES THAT WE IDENTIFIED. WE DID SPEND SOME TIME IN THE TRAINING REALLY TALKING ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUTCOMES, WHICH ARE OUR BIG GOALS THAT WE HAVE FOR STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. AND WE'VE IDENTIFIED A FEW VERY KEY OUTCOMES THAT WE'RE SHOOTING TOWARD. THEN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE OUTCOMES AND THE INPUTS AND OUTPUTS THAT COME FROM THOSE. SO THE INPUTS ARE THE RESOURCES, THE TIME, THE MONEY, THE EFFORT, THE STRATEGIES, THE PEOPLE THAT WE PUT IN PLACE TOWARD THOSE OUTCOMES THAT WE'RE REACHING FOR THOSE INPUTS ARE REALLY HANDLED BY OUR SUPERINTENDENT. THAT'S HIS ROLE IN THIS. AND THEN WE HELP TO DEFINE SOME OUTPUTS. THOSE ARE THINGS THAT HAPPEN AS A RESULT OF THOSE INPUTS THAT PREDICT THE SUCCESS OF THE OUTCOME. SO I KNOW THAT'S A LOT. THAT'S TWO DAYS WORTH LIKE IN JUST A FEW SENTENCES. BUT THE POINT IS, IT WAS A VERY AMAZING EXPERIENCE FOR US AND VERY MEANINGFUL AND IMPACTFUL FOR US TO DIVE INTO WHAT OUR INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY IS, WHAT OUR INDIVIDUAL ROLE IS AS BOARD MEMBERS REPRESENTING THE COMMUNITY, BUT ALSO AS A COLLECTIVE, WHAT OUR ROLE IS IN THAT, AND THEN HELPING TO DEFINE WHAT THOSE KEY OUTCOMES ARE THAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR. AND THEN THIS YEAR, THEY RECEIVED ANOTHER GRANT FROM THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOR $5,000 AND PARTNERED WITH TARLETON UNIVERSITY TO HOST THE COMPETITION AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL OVER AT THE NEW TARLETON FORT WORTH CAMPUS. IT WAS A GREAT EVENT AND IT'S AN INCLUSIVE TEAM EVENT THAT CREATES READERS AND LEADERS. HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS IN THIRD THROUGH SIXTH GRADE HAVE BECOME BOOK EXPERTS WHO COMPETED FIRST AT THE CAMPUS LEVEL. EACH CAMPUS SENT A WINNER AND THEY COMPETED AT TARLETON IN DECEMBER. AND THIS COMPETITION CONTINUES TO MAKE A GREAT IMPACT ON OUR STUDENTS.
