IF I MAY, BEFORE WE GET INTO OUR AGENDA AND DR. MCFARLAND SPEAKS, I'D LIKE TO SAY, ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, THANK YOU TO DR. MCFARLAND AND STAFF, AND ARAMARK FOR THE REMARKABLE JOB YOU'VE DONE.

ENSURING OUR STUDENTS ARE STILL RECEIVING NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND ACADEMIC ACTIVITY AS WE NAVIGATE THESE UNCHARTED WATERS.

YOU ARE DOING AN AMAZING JOB.

THANK YOU. NOW, DR. MCFARLAND.

>> MADAM PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS, I JUST HAVE TO ECHO WHAT YOU'VE JUST SHARED.

I HAVE JUST BEEN DEFINITELY APPRECIATIVE OF THE TEAM FROM THE PRINCIPALS, ALL THE WAY UP TO EVERY SINGLE OFFICE PERSON.

REALLY, THIS TIME LAST WEEK WE MET AND STARTED HAVING CONVERSATIONS AROUND WHAT OUR RESPONSE WOULD BE TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS.

WE STARTED THE PROCESS, WE REALLY HAD TWO PRIORITIES.

ONE PRIORITY WAS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS, OUR FAMILIES, AND OUR COMMUNITY.

THEN THE SECOND PRIORITY WAS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO ENSURE A CONTINUITY OF SERVICES, A CONTINUITY OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, OF CHILD NUTRITION SERVICES, OF OTHER SERVICES, RELATIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND ALSO EMPLOYEE SERVICES.

ALL THESE PEOPLE THAT ARE ON THE CALL, MOST OF THEM, HAVE BEEN SEPARATED ONTO TASK FORCE AND HAVE BEEN WORKING ON PARTICULAR ITEMS. AGAIN, IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, OVER ABOUT A FOUR-DAY PERIOD, THEY WERE ABLE TO PUT TOGETHER SOME PLANS THAT YOU ALL ARE NOW SEEING BEING IMPLEMENTED.

THE TEAM DID A LOT OF WORK, IT WAS A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT.

WE, DEFINITELY, PROUD OF WHAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.

>> OKAY.

>> I'M SORRY.

>> GO AHEAD.

>> NO. GO AHEAD.

>> ONE THING I WANTED TO SAY, BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER, I WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY FOR JOINING THE TELECONFERENCE THIS EVENING.

BECAUSE WE HAVE DOZENS OF DISTRICT AND CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS WHO ARE ALL ON THIS CALL AS MR. KIRCHNER INDICATED, AND WE'RE ALL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO JOIN IN.

WE ARE THANKFUL FOR THE TECHNOLOGY THAT ALLOWS US TO CONDUCT THIS MEETING VIA TELECONFERENCE.

WE APPRECIATE THE TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING LAWS THAT ALLOW US TO MEET THIS WAY DURING THIS HEALTH CRISIS.

WE HAVE IMPORTANT BUSINESS TO ATTEND THIS EVENING, AND I WOULD ASK THAT YOU BE PATIENT AS WE LEARN TO CONDUCT OUR MEETING IN THIS NEW FORMAT.

PLEASE ENSURE YOUR PHONES ARE MUTED.

IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, PLEASE SEND A TEXT MESSAGE OR E-MAIL TO MR. KIRCHNER.

SO OUR FIRST AGENDA ITEM TONIGHT IS A REPORT ON THE CONTINUITY OF CROWLEY ISD SERVICES DURING THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY.

[00:05:02]

SO DR. MCFARLAND, PLEASE CONTINUE.

>> OKAY. WHAT I'LL DO IS, I WANT TO GIVE THE BOARD AND THE COMMUNITY, WHO ARE ON THE LINE, JUST AN OVERVIEW OUR CURRENT PLAN, AND HOW WE'RE ACTUALLY IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN.

IT'LL TAKE A LITTLE BIT, BUT I'D LIKE FOR YOU TO SPEND SOME TIME LISTENING TO WHAT'S GOING ON, AND THEN HELP US TO THINK THROUGH.

IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION OR NEED CLARIFICATION, WE WOULD DEFINITELY WELCOME THAT.

WE'LL START OUT WITH OUR COVID-19 TASK FORCE.

THEIR RESPONSIBILITY WAS TO STAY CURRENT WITH TEA, STAY CURRENT WITH THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, STAY CURRENT WITH UIL, AND ANY INFORMATION COMING FROM THE CDC.

THIS GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS, THEIR NUMBER ONE JOB WAS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE INFORMED WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION.

THAT TEAM WAS FACILITATED BY MR. STAN SWANN.

I'LL JUST ALLOW MR. SWANN TO GIVE US A 2-3 MINUTE OVERVIEW OF WHAT HE'S HEARING FROM HIS TASK FORCE, WHAT THEY FOUND.

MR. SWANN.

MR. SWANN, YOU MAY BE ON MUTE IF YOU'RE SPEAKING.

>> MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR. MCFARLAND, I WOULD LIKE TO GO AHEAD AND THANK YOU GUYS FOR BEING PRESENT ALONG WITH THE COMMUNITY.

WE'VE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO SIT DOWN WITH SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS FROM THE CENTRAL OFFICE AND COME UP WITH IDEAS, ALONG WITH BEGAN TO GATHER INFORMATION FROM WHAT'S HAPPENING OUT THERE IN THE LAND WITH REGARDS TO THE COVID-19 ISSUES AND PANDEMIC.

I'M GOING TO START TALKING FIRST ABOUT UIL.

MR. LINCOLN IS THE PERSON THAT ACTUALLY LED THAT PARTICULAR CHARGE.

HE DID SEVERAL THINGS THAT WERE MAGNANIMOUS IN MAKING SURE THAT WE ARE AWARE AND UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

AT THIS TIME, THE EARLIEST GAMES AND CONTESTS MAY RESUME ON MONDAY, MAY THE 4TH.

WE KNOW THAT WE RECEIVED AN INDEX SOMETIME EARLIER TODAY FROM GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT REGARDING SCHOOLS IN OUR LAND IN TEXAS.

WE KNOW THAT UNTIL APRIL THE 3RD, THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOLS.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT WITHOUT SCHOOLS, WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING LIKE EXTRA CURRICULAR, CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.

BUT MR. LINCOLN, REALLY LED THAT PARTICULAR CHARGE.

HE'S BEEN IN CONTACT AND COMMUNICATION WITH HIS PARTICULAR STAFF MEMBERS, HIS COORDINATORS.

HE UNDERSTANDS WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH REGION 30 MUSIC, AND THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO DEALS WITH CONCERTS, SIGHT READING, AND ALL THAT TYPES OF BUSINESS.

I'D LIKE TO GO AHEAD AND MAKE SURE THAT WE'VE THANK MR. LINCOLN FOR HE'S CHARGE IN KEEPING US UP TO DATE WITH MUSIC AND ALSO SPORT.

THAT'S BEEN WONDERFUL.

TEA HAS ALSO HAD AN EMPHASIS ON REALLY WHAT WE'RE DOING IN TERMS OF PLANNING AND PREPARATION FOR CLASS, ETC.

THOSE INDIVIDUALS THAT'S BEEN A PART OF MY TEAM HAS BEEN VERONICA DELGADO, DR. KIM SCOGGINS, AND ALSO DR. CLARENCE WILLIAMS. ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS IS MAKING SURE THAT WE HAD ACCESS TO WHAT THOSE KIDS NEEDS WERE INCLUDING ACADEMICS, DIFFERENT SOFTWARE PROGRAMS AND SYSTEMS THAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY PULL FROM.

ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS THAT WE TRIED TO ACCOMPLISH HERE WITH THAT WAS IDENTIFYING EITHER SETTING UP TOWERS, RE-DIVERTING FUNDS TO EITHER TOWERS OR HOTSPOTS.

I HAD A PERSON ON OUR TEAM ALSO NAMED LEON FISHER, THAT WAS WONDERFUL IN IDENTIFYING WHICH COMPANIES WOULD PROVIDE US WITH THAT TYPE OF SUPPORT.

I BELIEVE WE STARTED IN THE DISTRICT WITH SOMEWHERE AROUND 200 OR SO HOTSPOTS.

HE WAS ABLE TO GO AHEAD AND IDENTIFY T-MOBILE, AND THOSE GUYS ARE NOW WILLING, FOR OUR CHARGE OF COURSE, TO IDENTIFY SOMEWHERE AROUND A THOUSAND, SO WE CAN PUSH THAT OUT TO OUR COMMUNITY.

WITHOUT THAT BUSINESSES BACKING, THERE WOULD BE NO WAY FOR US TO GO AND TRY TO MEET THAT NEED.

SO I'D LIKE TO CERTAINLY THANK MRS. ADRIAN, WHICH WOULD BE THE CHIEF OF THAT PARTICULAR DEPARTMENT ALONG WITH MR. FISHER FOR MAKING SURE THAT THOSE THINGS CAME TO FRUITION.

OUR POLICY PERSON THAT WAS WORKING IN THERE, I HAD DR.

AS YOU KNOW, DEA LOCAL REALLY DRIVES WHAT WE DO WITH OUR EMPLOYEES.

WITHOUT THE EMPLOYEE SENSE AND COMMUNICATION, AND THE ABILITY FOR THEIR INFORMATION TO STUDENTS, THERE WOULD REALLY BE NO WAY TO UNDERSTAND WHERE WE ARE WITH THE STUDENTS AND THE STUDENTS' NEEDS.

SO SHE DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THAT.

NOT ONLY SHE TALKED ABOUT THINGS LIKE THAT, SHE ALSO GOT INVOLVED WITH FMLA TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH OUR STUDENTS, OUR TEACHERS, THOSE INDIVIDUALS THAT MAY BE ON PERSONAL LEAVES, ETC, AND HELP US CHART THE COURSE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE STILL HAD INDIVIDUALS THAT COULD ACTUALLY TAKE CARE OF THOSE CLASSES DURING THOSE ABSENCES.

SHE ALSO, AS YOU KNOW, WILL BE THE CONCERT GUIDE FOR THE ACTUAL RESOLUTION.

SO SHE'S DONE SOME PHENOMENAL THINGS WITH THOSE TYPES OF AREAS.

[00:10:03]

LOGISTICS. VERONICA KUNSCHIK, SHE HAS BEEN HELPING US IN TERMS OF UNDERSTANDING WHAT HAPPENS, HONESTLY AFTER THE CURVE.

SO SHE'S REALLY LOOKING AT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN IRELAND, IN KOREA, IN ENGLAND.

SHE'S TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AFTER WE COME OUT OF THIS PARTICULAR PANDEMIC.

I'VE DEFINITELY BEEN APPRECIATIVE OF HER HELP.

WE REALLY CAN'T START ANYWHERE, REALLY WITHOUT STARTING WITH MISTY VANCMPEN, WHICH IS OVER OUR HEALTH SERVICES.

WE UNDERSTAND NOW THAT IT'S TEN OR LESS IN TERMS OF GATHERING, WE KNOW WHERE WE ARE WITH THE INDIVIDUALS IN TARRANT COUNTY THAT'S ACTUALLY SUFFERED EITHER THE PRESUMED CASES OF THE CORONAVIRUS AND OR THOSE CONFIRMED.

WE ALSO KNOW THE DEATHS THAT WE'VE ALSO HAD TO SUFFER IN OUR COMMUNITY AS WELL.

BUT WITHOUT HER AND KEEPING US UP TO DATE AND CONSTANTLY PUSHING OUT INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE, WE WOULD BE LOST.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK MISTY FOR WHAT SHE'S DONE WITH THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.

MS. IDENTIFY DIFFERENT FORMATS, PROCESSES, MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE UP TO DATE WITH CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS THAT WE HAVE TO DO WITH PD INC, AND WE DEFINITELY APPRECIATE HER AS WELL.

MS. GROSSMAN HAS BEEN THE PERSON THAT'S BEEN WORKING IN THE BACKGROUND, BUT SHE'S BEEN DOING A LOT TO GET WORKFORCE.

SHE'S BEEN OUR SCRIBE, KEEPING ME UP TO DATE WITH OUR MEETING NOTES, MEETING MINUTES, AND SO THESE INDIVIDUALS HAVE BEEN PHENOMENAL.

I CAN'T SAY THIS WITHOUT CLOSING, COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOLS HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH ME BEHIND THE SCENES ALSO, AND THEY'LL BE PUSHING OUT SOME INFORMATION THIS COMING FRIDAY REGARDING SERVICES AND SUPPORTS IF THEY COULD PROVIDE IT TO OUR SCHOOLS.

THEY'VE ALSO BEEN PARTICIPATING IN MEETINGS ON CAMPUSES WITH THE PRINCIPALS, ETC., AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THOSE GUYS ARE DOING THINGS ALSO FROM THEIR OWN HOME BASE OR OFFICE BASE, WHATEVER IS REQUIRED FROM THEIR ENTITY, BUT WOULD DO APPRECIATE WHAT THEY'RE DOING FOR OUR COMMUNITY, AND WILL DO IN THE FUTURE.

DOC

>> ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FROM ANY MEMBERS OF THE BOARD?OKAY.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MR. SWANN.

IS THERE A QUESTION?

>> DR. MCFARLAND, ARE YOU THERE?

>> YES. THE NEXT TEAM THAT WE HAD, THAT TEAM AGAIN WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING US ENGAGED AND INFORMED ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON FROM THOSE AGENCIES WE LISTED.

THE NEXT TEAM'S RESPONSIBILITY WAS TO ENSURE THAT WE HAD A CONTINUITY OF SERVICES.

WE LOOKED AT EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, AGAIN, WE LOOKED AT THE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, WE LOOKED AT CHILD NUTRITION SERVICES, AND ALSO JUST EMPLOYEE SERVICES.

WE WANTED MAKE SURE THAT THROUGH THIS PANDEMIC THAT WE WOULD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO SERVE OUR DIFFERENT CONSTITUENTS.

MS. ISABELL WAS THE FACILITATOR OF THAT TEAM, SO I'LL JUST LET MS. ISABELL WALK US THROUGH THE WORK THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ENGAGED IN.

>> THANK YOU, DR. MCFARLAND, PRESIDENT DAVIS, AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

THE CONTINUITY OF SERVICES OVERARCHING GOAL IS SAFETY AND SECURITY.

THIS INCLUDES HEALTH SAFETY, FOOD SECURITY, EDUCATIONAL SECURITY, AS WELL AS SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SECURITY WITH STUDENTS AND STAFF.

IN THE FIVE DAYS THAT THIS TEAM HAS PULLED TOGETHER, THERE HAVE BEEN NO LESS THAN 24 LARGE ZOOM MEETINGS, AND EVEN MORE THAN THAT AT THE SUB-COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

SO THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF WORK THAT'S BEEN GOING ON TO MAKE SURE THAT WE REACH OUR GOAL.

THERE ARE FOUR DISTINCT TEAMS ON THIS PARTICULAR COMMITTEE.

THE FIRST TEAM IS THE CONTINUITY OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICES.

THAT TEAM IS MADE UP OF 14 CENTRAL OFFICE PEOPLE, OUR MEMBERS, AND SIX CAMPUS MEMBERS.

NICK, KEITH, AND RUBY BATISTE WILL GIVE YOU SUMMARIES OF THE WORK THAT THEY'VE DONE ON THIS TEAM. MR. KEITH.

>> THANK YOU, MS. ISABELL. GOOD EVENING, DR. MCFARLAND, PRESIDENT DAVIS, AND BOARD MEMBERS.

I JUST LIKE TO GIVE YOU A QUICK OVERVIEW OF THE WORK THAT WE'VE DONE ON THE CONTINUITY OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICES COMMITTEE.

YOU CAN REALLY THINK OF OUR WORK THAT THE COMMITTEE IS DONE IN THREE STAGES.

SO THE FIRST STAGE REALLY LASTED FROM FRIDAY WHEN WE FOUND OUT THAT WE WOULD BE CLOSED FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS, AND IT LASTED THROUGH MONDAY.

SO OVER THAT WEEKEND, WE WORKED ON GATHERING DIGITAL AND ONLINE INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES, IT COULD BE POSTED FOR STUDENTS ON THE DISTRICT'S NEW COVID 19 SUPPORT CENTER.

THAT WEBSITE WENT LIVE, THANKS TO THE COMMUNICATIONS TEAM, ON MONDAY EVENING.

THOSE RESOURCES ARE INTENDED FOR USE IN THE SHORT-TERM,

[00:15:04]

OVER THIS NEXT TWO WEEKS CLOSURE.

THE SECOND STAGE WAS GETTING PRINT MATERIALS INTO THE HANDS OF STUDENTS.

SO THOSE WERE ASSEMBLED ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY OF THIS WEEK, COPIED ON WEDNESDAY, AND ARE NOW BEING DISTRIBUTED AT OUR NEW SITES AS OF TODAY AND TOMORROW.

THOSE ARE ALSO POSTED ONLINE FOR PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO WOULD LIKE THOSE RESOURCES.

NOW, WE'RE REALLY MOVING INTO STAGE THREE, WHICH IS LOOKING AT LONG-TERM PLANNING FOR HOW WE'LL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES FOR OUR STUDENTS.

WE JUST HAD A COMMITTEE MEETING THIS AFTERNOON TO DISCUSS WHAT THAT FORMAT MAY LOOK LIKE, AND THEN WE HAVE ADDITIONAL MEETINGS SCHEDULED OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS TO DISCUSS HOW THAT WILL ROLL OUT TO THE COMMUNITY.

SO THAT'S WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW WITH THOSE THREE STAGES.

I'D BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE.

>> ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS FROM ANY OF THE MEMBERS? A COMMENT? OKAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

VERY COMPREHENSIVE. THANK YOU.

>> GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT DAVIS, DR. MCFARLAND, AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

THIS IS RUBY BATISTE ADDRESSING YOU ON OUR SERVICES FOR OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS, OUR HOME-BOUND STUDENTS OUR BILINGUAL EDUCATION STUDENTS, OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE RECEIVING DYSLEXIA SERVICES, AND ALL THE OTHER FEDERAL PROGRAMS STUDENTS.

WE WERE CHARGED WITHIN THIS SAME COMPONENT TO ENSURE THAT FROM THE MOMENT THAT THE COVID 19 WEBSITE WENT UP, THAT ALL STUDENTS IN CROWLEY ISD HAD ACCESS AND CONTINUITY OF SERVICES.

ALL SUBCOMMITTEES QUICKLY MOBILIZED OVER THE WEEKEND TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL MY RESOURCES WERE AVAILABLE THAT WERE APPLICABLE TO VARIOUS DISABILITIES, SPECIAL NEEDS, AND LANGUAGE NEEDS.

THE AREAS ADDRESSED WERE THROUGH SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING BECAUSE JUST HAVING THE SWITCH OF KNOWING WHY I'M NOT IN SCHOOL NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED.

WE ALSO INCLUDED SEVERAL DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTIONS IN LESSONS THAT WERE UTILIZED, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THAT I'D LIKE TO COMMEND OUR BILINGUAL DEPARTMENT AND OUR ELL DEPARTMENT FOR ENSURING THAT DOCUMENTS WERE TRANSLATED BECAUSE COMMUNICATION IS ESSENTIAL.

OUR REGIONAL DAY SCHOOL DEPTH OR THE PROGRAMS STUDENTS WERE TAKING CARE OF IN OUR NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS.

MR. LARRY WILLIAMS, THE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEAM ENSURED THAT THOSE NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS WERE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY, I THINK LAST THURSDAY OR FRIDAY EVENING, AND IT'S JUST BEEN A GREAT EFFORT.

WE ALSO, JUST LIKE MR. KEITH SAID, WE ALSO SENT OUT SOME PACKETS THAT WERE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT AND CUSTOMIZED FOR SOME OF OUR PROFOUND STUDENTS THAT WE KNEW THAT ONLINE LEARNING WOULD NOT BE APPLICABLE.

WE'RE STAYING TUNED IN WITH REGION 11 AND OTHER SPECIAL EDUCATION ELL PROGRAMS IN THE DISTRICT TO SEE WHAT THIS MAY CONTINUE TO LOOK LIKE, IN ADDITION TO THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, WHICH IS OFFERING A LOT OF GUIDANCE AT THIS TIME.

THAT CONCLUDES MY CONTRIBUTION.

IF YOU ALL HAVE ANY QUESTIONS YOU'D LIKE ME TO ANSWER AT THIS TIME, I'D BE HAPPY TO.

>> THANK YOU, AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THAT NOISE.

ANY MEMBERS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? OKAY. THANK YOU.

>> MS. DAVIS, I'M SORRY.

THIS IS ONE OF THE I JUST WANT TO THANK THE MEMBERS WHO HAVE ALREADY SPOKEN ALREADY OF THE CROWLEY ISD COMMUNITY FOR NOT ONLY THE QUALITY OF THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING, BUT THE TIMELY ACTION.

FROM MY POST AT REGION 11, I'VE BEEN ABLE TO SEE A LOT OF THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES AS WELL, AND IN A LOT OF WAYS, CROWLEY ISD STAFF ARE LEADING THE CHARGE IN OUR REGION AND A LOT OF AREAS, AND I APPRECIATE THE WORK OF EVERYONE TO MAKE SURE OUR STUDENTS ARE STILL RECEIVING SERVICES AND INSTRUCTION THAT THEY DESERVE DURING THIS CRISIS STILL.

I'LL MUTE AGAIN. THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU, MS. I CERTAINLY AGREE. ANY OTHER COMMENT?

>> YEAH. THIS IS RYAN RAY.

I COULDN'T GET THE SPEAKER OF MY PHONE TO WORK BEFORE, BUT THE WEBSITE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES HAS BEEN A BIG HELP FOR US EVEN, AND HOPEFULLY FOR A LOT OF A LOT OF PARENTS AND KIDS,

[00:20:04]

AND I'M GLAD THEY GOT THAT UP AND GOT IT UP SO QUICKLY, ESPECIALLY WITH THE LITTLE ONES IN THE SECOND GRADE, THEY'VE GOT INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDES TO GIVE YOU A PLAN FOR EACH DAY OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS WITH MATERIAL, AND THAT'S BEEN VERY HELPFUL.

THERE'S A LOT OF CONTENT ON THERE THAT WAS PUT TOGETHER PRETTY QUICKLY, SO I DEFINITELY THINK WE'VE DONE A GREAT JOB ON THAT.

>> THANK YOU, MR. RAY. ANYBODY ELSE? THE ONE THING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO ADD IS WE SEE WHAT OTHER DISTRICTS ARE DOING ON TV AND I THINK WHAT WE'RE DOING CERTAINLY MEASURES UP TO WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

SO MR. CARSON, CAN WE GET WHAT WE'RE DOING ON TV?

>> ABSOLUTELY. WE GOT SOME OF OUR TEACHERS ON CHANNEL 5 ON MONDAY, AND WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE DOING THAT, ESPECIALLY WITH SOME THINGS WE HAVE COMING UP NEXT WEEK THAT WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT. SO STAY TUNED.

>> THANK YOU. DR. MCFARLAND?

>> MS. DAVIS, THERE WERE FOUR DISTINCT TEAMS, THAT IS ONE OF THE TEAMS, THEY'RE DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB AS YOU ALL HAVE ALWAYS SAID.

ANOTHER BEHIND THE SCENE WORKING REALLY HARD, WE HAVE FOUR THAT WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GIVE A REPORT TODAY.

THE CONTINUITY OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING HAS A TOTAL OF 10 CENTRAL OFFICE MEMBERS AND SEVEN CAMPUS MEMBERS ON THEIR TEAM.

THAT TEAM IS LED BY MS. STEPHANIE ALLEN.

SHE WOULD GIVE ME

>> GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT DAVIS, SCHOOL BOARD AND DR. MCFARLAND.

I'M EXCITED TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE'RE GIVING OUR TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS DURING THIS TIME.

THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE HAS DECIDED THAT WE'RE GOING TO FOCUS IN EACH WEEK ON PROVIDING PD, FOCUSING ON THESE THREE CATEGORIES.

ONE WILL BE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING, ONE WILL BE TECHNOLOGY, AND THEN ONE WILL BE INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES.

THIS WEEK, WE REALLY FOCUSED ON WITH THE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING ON THE IMPORTANCE OF ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES FOR THE HOME AND FOR THE CLASSROOM.

IN TECHNOLOGY, WE FOCUSED ON ONLINE CYBER SECURITY, HOW TO SET UP ZOOM MEETINGS AND THEN INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES WE REALLY FOCUSED IN ON WHOLE-BRAIN TEACHING.

NEXT WEEK OUR GOALS WILL BE TO REALLY TEACH TEACHERS HOW TO MANAGE ANXIETY AS WE'RE GOING THROUGH THIS ALONG WITH THEIR STUDENTS.

WE'RE GOING TO TEACH TEACHERS HOW TO SET UP GOOGLE CLASSROOMS AND ALL OF THE TOOLS THAT ARE IN GOOGLE CLASSROOMS, AND THEN HOW TO USE ONLINE RESOURCES TO ASSIST WITH INSTRUCTION.

THIS WEEK, WE DID SEND OUT A SURVEY TO ACCOMPANY THE PD AND WE GOT A LOT OF REALLY POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND THEN SOME REQUESTS.

SO WE'LL BE TRYING TO DO THAT EACH WEEK SO THAT WE CAN COURSE CORRECT AS WE NAVIGATE OUR NEW SYSTEM.

WE ALSO HAVE PLANS FOR COUNSELING.

THIS WEEK STARTING ON MONDAY, WE'LL HAVE THE COUNSELORS CORNER ADDED TO THE CISD COVID-19 WEBSITES THAT'LL GET EDUCATORS AND FAMILIES SOME TOOLS AND RESOURCES DURING THIS TIME.

WE'RE WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE COUNSELORS ON THE CAMPUSES, REACHING THE FAMILIES WHO MAY BE NEEDING SOME MORE SUPPORT OUT THERE AND WE'RE COORDINATING EFFORTS TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

THEN THE SEL SPECIALISTS HAVE BEGUN WORKING ON CREATING SEL LESSON, SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING LESSONS THAT WE'LL BE DELIVERING USING THE CROWLEY CNI WEBSITE.

SO THOSE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON.

>> OKAY. I HAVE A QUESTION MISS ALLEN.

ARE YOU FINISHED?

>> I'M FINISHED, YES. I CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS.

>> OKAY. SO HOW DOES THE STAFF DEVELOPMENT WITH TEACHERS WORK? ARE THEY SO MANY SIGNING UP PER DAY OR IS IT REQUIRED THAT THEY PARTICIPATE.

HOW IS IT WORKING?

>> THANK YOU FOR ASKING THAT QUESTION AND SO WHAT THE PLAN

[00:25:04]

IS WHILE WE BREAK IT UP INTO THOSE THREE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES, THERE'S DIFFERENT THINGS THAT THEY NEED TO DO IN THOSE CATEGORIES.

SOME OF THAT IS ONLINE TRAININGS THAT THEY WOULD COMPLETE AND WE'RE WATCHING FOR COMPLETIONS, SOME OF IT IS WATCHING A VIDEO WHERE THEN THEY TURN AROUND AND DO A REFLECTION THAT THEY EMAIL TO THEIR PRINCIPALS.

THEN SOME OF IT WILL BE READING DIFFERENT ARTICLES, THINGS LIKE THAT, WHERE THEY'LL BE ALSO DOING A REFLECTION AND THEN EMAILING THAT TO THEIR PRINCIPALS.

>> OKAY. IS THE EXPECTATION THAT EVERY TEACHER PARTICIPATES?

>> THAT IS THE EXPECTATION.

WE FEEL VERY STRONGLY DURING THIS TIME AS WE'RE REALLY ENRICHING OUR LEARNING WITH CHILDREN THAT WE'RE REALLY ENRICHING OUR LEARNING WITH OUR EDUCATORS AS WELL.

>> RIGHT, OKAY, GREAT.THANK YOU.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS FROM ANY OF THE OTHER MEMBERS OR COMMENTS? REMEMBER TO UNMUTE IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION OR A COMMENT.

OKAY. THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

>> PRESIDENT, DAVIS, OUR NEXT COMMITTEE TASK-FORCE WAS CONTINUITY OF FOOD SERVICES AND THAT WAS HEADED BY MR. RANDY REED.

THERE WERE 50 ADMINISTRATORS MEMBER FROM CENTRAL OFFICE AND THERE WERE SEVEN CAMPUS MEMBER.

MR. REAVES WILL GIVE YOU A SUMMARY OF THE WORK THAT THEY DID THIS WEEK.

>> THANK YOU MRS. MISS DAVIS, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

OUR GOAL WHEN WE STARTED THIS WAS TO SERVE MEALS TO AS MANY CISD STUDENTS AS POSSIBLE.

SO IN LOOKING AT GEOGRAPHICALLY THE DISTRICT, WE CHOSE THE 10 ELEMENTARIES THAT WERE CURRENTLY DINNER SITES, AND THEN WE ADDED CARLY HIGH SCHOOL AND NORTH CARLY HIGH SCHOOL.

ALONG WITH THOSE SERVING SITES, WE STARTED WITH THREE APARTMENT COMPLEXES.

THE 23RD, WE WILL ADD A FOURTH, WHICH IS SUN SET POINT.

ONE CHANGE THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE MAKING IS WE WERE CURRENTLY DOING THREE PICKUP DAY FOR BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND DINNER.

WE'RE GOING TO TRANSITION ON MONDAY TO TWO PICKUPS PER DAY.

SO THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PICK UP BREAKFAST AND LUNCH DURING THE 11:00 -1:00 TIME-FRAME, AND THEN THE DINNER WILL REMAIN THE SAME AT 4:30 TO 6:00.

THAT WILL ALLOW US TO SERVE BOTH LUNCH AND DINNER AS HOT MEALS AND HOPEFULLY IT'LL HELP THE PARENTS AS THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO COME OUT THREE TIMES A DAY.

THE FINAL THING I WANT TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON MEALS SERVED YESTERDAY.

THE TOTAL WAS 5,491 AND I MAY ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE.

>> THAT IS AMAZING.

ARE THERE ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS FROM ANY OF THE MEMBERS?

>> THIS IS GARY GRASSIA.

I JUST WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED OUT IN THIS TIME.

I KNOW THAT A LOT OF THE BOARD MEMBERS HAVE GONE UP AND HELPED SERVE AND THE APPRECIATION FROM THE PARENTS HAS JUST BEEN OVERWHELMING.

SO I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO'S INVOLVED THERE, MARK AND MR. REAVES AND I THINK THAT'S A GREAT IDEA TO COMBINE THE BREAKFAST AND THE LUNCH.

SO KUDOS TO YOU ALL.

>> THIS IS NATAL, I JUST WANTED TO COMMENT AS WELL TO ECHO MR. GRASSIA.

I HAVE HAD THE OCCASION TO SERVE THIS WEEK AND ONE, I WANT TO COMMEND OUR STAFF FOR BEING SO RESPONSIVE AND PROVIDING NUMEROUS LOCATIONS ACROSS THE DISTRICT AND ASKED TO MAKE EASE OF ACCESS FOR ALL OF OUR FAMILIES AND ALSO JUST THE NUMBER OF STUFF MEMBERS WHO ARE VOLUNTEERING TO BE OUT THERE, AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE FROM THE COMMUNITY WHO HAVE ALSO STEPPED UP, TO ASSIST.

[00:30:01]

IT IS GREAT AND I ALWAYS FEEL LIKE CROWLEY ISD IS A FAMILY AND THAT ROLE CONTINUES TO BE SHOWN THIS WEEK AS WELL IN THE OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT, THAT'S GREAT JOB.

>> THANK YOU. ANY OTHER COMMENTS?

>> YES, THIS IS NEDRA ROBINSON.

I WOULD LIKE TO ECHO MY FELLOW TRUSTEES, I'VE RECEIVED COMMENTS FROM TWO MEMBERS OF ORGANIZATIONS.

ONE WAS WITH THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, TEXAS STATE BOARD.

SHE WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT US, BECAUSE WE ARE ONE OF THE FEW DISTRICTS OFFERING THREE MEALS A DAY AND THEN ONE IS FROM ANOTHER NON-PROFIT WHO HAS BEEN FOLLOWING OUR EFFORTS AND JUST MUCH A HIGHLIGHT AND POSSIBLY CONTACT DR. MCFARLAND, AND MR. KIRCHNER REGARDING WHAT WE'RE DOING.

SO ALTHOUGH IT IS OUR COMMUNITY, PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE OF OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECOGNIZING OUR EFFORTS AND APPLAUDING US.

WE ARE SAVING OUR FAMILIES AND OUR COMMUNITY.

>> THANK YOU, MISS ROBINSON.

MR REAVES, WHAT TIME DID YOU SAY THAT FIRST DISTRIBUTION WOULD BE AGAIN?

>> IT WILL REMAIN THE SAME, IT'LL BE 11:00-1:00.

>> OKAY. ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS? THANK YOU.

>> PRESENTLY DAVIS ARE FORTH CONTINUITY OF SERVICE TEAM, USE THE CONTINUITY OF EMPLOYEE SERVICES.

THEY HADN'T TOLD ME 11 CENTRAL OFFICE AND CAMPUS MEMBERS, AND THE FACILITATOR FOR THAT WAS DR. KOHLER.

SO DR. KOHLER WILL GIVE YOU A SUMMARY OF WHAT THE WORK FOR THIS WEEK.

>> THANK YOU, MS. ISABELL, AND MS. DAVIS, AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, I'M PLEASED TONIGHT TO PRESENT SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE EMPLOYEE SERVICES TEAM FROM THIS WEEK.

AS I SAY THAT THE LIGHTS JUST WENT OUT IN MY HOUSE SO I HOPE EVERYTHING IS PLUGGED IN AND CHARGED.

OUR MAIN GOAL WERE TWO FOLD.

ONE, WE WANTED TO ENSURE THAT ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES WOULD CONTINUE TO BE PAID FOR THEIR REGULAR DUTY SCHEDULE AT STATED IN BOARD POLICY.

WE WANTED TO BE SURE THAT INCLUDED ALL OUR NON-EXEMPT, OUR EXEMPT, AND OUR TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES LIKE OUR AVID TUTORS AND OUR 21ST CENTURY EMPLOYEES.

WE KNOW THAT THAT IS IMPORTANT FOR MORALE, EMPLOYEE RETENTION, AND OUR ABILITY TO JUST TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THE SERVICES TO OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES DURING THE CLOSURE AND WHEN WE RETURN.

THEN WE ALSO WANTED TO ENSURE THAT PAYROLL CONTINUED TO RUN WITHOUT INTERRUPTION DURING THE CLOSURE AND THAT INVOICES CONTINUED TO BE PAID WEEKLY.

SO SOME OF THE MAJOR THINGS WE'VE DONE, WE'VE WORKED HARD ON THE BOARD RESOLUTION THAT YOU'LL BE REVIEWING TONIGHT THAT WE ARE BRINGING FORWARD FOR YOUR APPROVAL.

WE'VE WORKED TO CLARIFY THE PROVISIONS FOR LEAVE DURING CLOSURE, INCLUDING FMLA, WE'VE SUSPENDED THE TUITION PAYMENTS FOR FAMILIES AT THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER AND OUR TUITION BASED PRE-K PROGRAM IN ORDER TO EASE ANY FINANCIAL BURDEN THAT THIS CLOSURE MAY CAUSE FAMILY.

OUR BUSINESS OFFICE STAFF WORK THIS WEEK TO ENSURE PAYROLL WAS PROCESSED, TOMORROW IS PAYDAY FOR OUR EMPLOYEES, AND THAT CURRENT INVOICES WERE PAID.

WE'VE WORKED REALLY HARD TO BE SURE OUR MESSAGING COMMUNICATES THAT THIS CLOSURE IS NOT CONSIDERED TIME OFF FOR OUR EMPLOYEES.

WE ARE EXPECTING THEM TO WORK AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN CONTINUITY OF SERVICES, AND THEY ARE RISING UP TO THE CHALLENGE.

THEY'RE CALLING AND CHECKING IN WITH STUDENTS, MAINTAINING OFFICE HOURS, COMPLETING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AS MS. ALLEN MENTIONED, AND ASSISTING WITH THE DELIVERY OF MEALS AND PRINTED CURRICULUM MATERIALS.

SO WE'RE VERY PROUD OF OUR EMPLOYEES AND THE WORK THEY ARE DOING TO BOND TOGETHER AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER IN OUR CROWLEY FAMILY DURING THIS TIME.

>> OKAY, THANK YOU.

ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS?

>> IS THE CLINIC OPEN, DR. PAULA?

>> YES, MA'AM, THE CLINIC IS OPEN AND SEEING PATIENTS.

JUST IN THE MONTH OF MARCH ALONE, THEY'VE HAD 75 VISIT THERE.

SO FAR, THE TOTAL FOR THIS YEAR IS ABOUT 835 VISITS.

[00:35:05]

SO OUR EMPLOYEES ARE DEFINITELY USING THIS CLINIC.

>> GOOD. OKAY, ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS FOR DR. PAULA.

OKAY, THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

>> MS. ISABELL?

>> PRESIDENT DAVIS, I JUST WANT TO SUMMARIZE AND SAY THAT WE HAVE MORE THAN 60 STAFF MEMBERS WORKING THROUGH 24 DIFFERENT ZOOM MEETINGS TO CREATE A PLAN, AND A POLICY TO SERVE, AND SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE ALSO HAVE ON-SITE SUPPORT.

SO AS EVERYONE'S ALREADY SAID, I WOULD LIKE TO ECHO THAT THIS TEAM IS DEFINITELY A UNIFIED TEAM.

SO WHEN WE SAY CROWLEY PROUD UNIFIED, IT IS TRULY BEING SHOWN AT THIS TIME.

SO THANK YOU FOR GIVING US AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THAT WITH YOU.

>> THANK YOU FOR SHARING EVERYTHING THAT'S BEING DONE.

OKAY, MR. KIRCHNER? DR. MCFARLAND.

>> YES. SO WE HAVE TWO MORE TEAMS AND THEN WE'LL BE DONE.

THE NEXT TEAM IS THE LOGISTICS TEAM.

WHAT YOU'VE HEARD UP TO THIS POINT, YOU'VE HEARD THE PLANS, BUT WHAT WE KNOW IS THAT WE CAN CREATE A PLAN BUT WE HAVE TO HAVE THE BUILD TO ACTUALLY IMPLEMENT THAT PLAN.

LOGISTICS IS REALLY THE TEAM THAT NORMALLY GOES FROM THE PLAN TO THE ACTUAL IMPLEMENTATION.

SO MR. REAVES HAS LED OUR LOGISTICS, AND HE SHARED A LITTLE BUT WE JUST LET MR. REAVES SHARE A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT WHAT WE'RE DOING LOGISTICS.

THEN ALSO TECHNOLOGY WANTS TO SHARE DURING THAT TIME AS WELL, WE COULD DO THAT AS WELL. SO MR. REAVES.

>> YES, SIR. THANK YOU, DR. MCFARLAND AND MISS DAVIS, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

SO CONCERNING BUILDING ACCESS, ON MONDAY, MARCH 16TH, WE ALLOWED ALL STAFF TO GO TO THEIR CAMPUS FROM 8:00 TO 1:00 TO GET COMPUTERS AND MATERIALS AND THINGS THAT THEY WOULD NEED DURING THIS TIME.

WITH THE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL AND THE DELIVERIES OF THE PACKETS, WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH CNM.

WE'VE PROVIDED NEW SUPPORT WITH GETTING THEM BOXES TO TRANSPORT MATERIALS AND MR. PETE HAS BEEN A BIG HELP WITH THAT.

THEN AS DR. MCFARLAND SAID, CONCERNING THE DIGITAL DEVICES, I KNOW MR. CAMPBELL IS WORKING ON A PLAN TO DISTRIBUTE THE CHROMEBOOK SO I'LL LET HIM SPEAK TO THAT.

>> THANK YOU, DR. MCFARLAND, AND MISS DAVIS, AND BOARD FOR YOUR SUPPORT AT THIS TIME.

THE PLAN WE HAVE HERE IS A REFLECTION OF THE WHOLE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT.

WE WORKED TOGETHER WITH THIS, WE GOT TOGETHER WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE, AND THE ADMIN BUILDING HAD BEEN VERY SUPPORTIVE OF US AND WE THANK YOU GUYS AS WELL.

OUR PRIMARY GOAL RIGHT NOW IS TO PUT A DEVICE IN EVERY CROWLEY ISD UNIQUE HOME.

THERE'S OF THOSE, 4,622 CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE A DEVICE IN THE HOUSE.

WE HAVE A PLAN THAT WILL TAKE THE CHROMEBOOKS, GET THOSE OUT TO THOSE HOMES.

THE PLAN RIGHT NOW IS WE HAVE A WEBSITE.

MR. KIRCHNER, MR. HANDY ARE WORKING WITH THEM, THEY'VE CREATED A WEBSITE FOR US THAT STUDENTS CAN GO TO, PARENTS CAN GO TO, LOG ON, REQUEST A DEVICE, AND TECHNOLOGY PART, WE'LL GET THAT DEVICE, WE'LL ASSIGN IT TO THAT STUDENT, WE'LL PUT IT IN A BAG, WE'LL USE THE SAME DISTRIBUTION THAT THEY'RE USING FOR THE MEAL SERVICES.

WE'LL COMMUNICATE WITH THAT STUDENT WHEN THAT DEVICE WILL BE THERE AND AT WHAT TIME, THEY CAN PICK IT UP AT THAT POINT.

ANOTHER THING THAT WE'RE REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT IS GETTING INTERNET INTO THE HOUSE OF THESE KIDS.

A LOT OF OUR STUDENTS DON'T HAVE INTERNET IN THE HOME.

CURRENTLY, WE HAVE ABOUT 100 MOBILE HOTSPOTS THAT WE CAN ASSIGN TO KIDS, WE'LL USE THE SAME PROCESS WE DO WITH THE CHROMEBOOKS.

MR. FISHER HAS BEEN WORKING WITH T-MOBILE, HAD DONE A GREAT DEAL WITH HIM.

IF ALL GOES WELL TONIGHT, WE'LL HOPEFULLY HAVE ANOTHER 1,000 HERE IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS TO GET THE REST OF THE STUDENTS ONLINE IN THEIR HOMES.

ONE PROBLEM THAT WE REALLY THOUGHT WE NEED TO DEAL WITH WAS THE BROKEN COMPUTERS.

A LOT OF STUDENTS HAVE BROKEN COMPUTERS AT 9-12 RIGHT NOW.

WE THOUGHT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING RIGHT NOW IS TO GET A COMPUTER IN THEIR HANDS.

SO IF THEY HAVE A BROKEN COMPUTER, THEY CAN GO ON TO THE WEBSITE, REQUESTS A NEW COMPUTER, AND WE WILL WILL WAIVE ALL THE FEES THAT WE HAVE TO GET THOSE COMPUTERS FIXED.

ALSO, IF A STUDENT HAS A LOST OR STOLEN DEVICE, WE WILL GIVE THEM A NEW DEVICE AND CHARGE

[00:40:02]

THEIR SKYWARE ACCOUNT FOR THAT LOST OR STOLEN DEVICE, BUT WE REALIZED THAT RIGHT NOW, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT THEY HAVE A DEVICE IN THEIR HOME THAT THEY COULD DO THEIR SCHOOL WORK ON.

AGAIN, THIS IS PHASE 1, WE WANT TO GIVE ONE IN EVERY HOUSE IN CROWLEY ISD, AND IF WE NEED TO MOVE THE PHASE 2, WE HAVE ENOUGH CHROMEBOOKS AT SCHOOLS THAT WE CAN PULL THOSE FROM THE SCHOOLS AND DO A ONE-TO-ONE MODEL OR WE'LL MOVE THAT SECOND THING THAT EVERY KID IN CROWLEY ISD WILL HAVE A DEVICE IN THEIR HANDS.

WE DO HAVE ENOUGH DEVICES AT ALL THE SCHOOLS IF WE PULL ALL THOSE BACK IN TO SERVICE ALL THOSE KIDS.

>> ALSO, BOARD, WHAT YOU'RE HEARING FROM EACH TEAM, WHAT I ASKED THEM TO DO IS CREATE A TWO-WEEK PLAN AND THEN A 30-DAY PLAN.

SO REALLY, THIS WEEK HAS BEEN JUST ABOUT PUTTING TOGETHER THE TWO-WEEK PLAN.

NOW, WE'RE GOING TO ASK THE TEAM TO SHIFT FROM THE TWO WEEKS TO THE 30 DAYS.

WE DEFINITELY KNOW THAT THEY WILL BE OUT OF SCHOOL NOW AT LEAST UNTIL APRIL 3RD, VERY LIKELY, EVEN LOWER THAN THAT.

SO WHAT WE'LL START TO DO ON MONDAY IS START TO MOVE FROM JUST THE TWO-WEEK PLAN THAT WE HAVE PUT IN PLACE TO ACTUALLY A 30-DAY PLAN.

A PART OF THE 30-DAY PLAN IS ACTUALLY THE CHECKING OUT OF THE DEVICES AND ACTUALLY SHIFTING TO A REALLY FULL ONLINE AND CENTRAL OFFICE DRIVEN INSTRUCTION THERE.

SO WE'RE WORKING ON THAT, WE'RE MAKING A SHIFT WITH THE TECHNOLOGY AND INTERNET AND ALL THOSE THINGS STARTING ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK.

RIGHT NOW, WE HAVE JUST GOT TO BE

>> WOW.

OKAY, THANK YOU.

WERE YOU DONE? I'M SORRY.

>> YES, WE'RE DONE WITH THE LOGISTICS TEAM.

THE LAST TEAM IS JUST THE COMMUNICATION TEAM AND KIRCHNER CAN WRAP IT UP, AND THEN WE'LL BE OPEN FOR ANY QUESTIONS.

>> HI, EVERYONE.

>> OKAY, BEFORE YOU START, MR. KIRCHNER, BOARD, DO YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS FOR MR. REAVES' LAST REPORT?

>> I HAVE ONE QUESTION. CAN YOU HEAR ME?

>> UH-HUH.

>> YEAH, THIS IS RYAN RAY.

IF I MISSED IT, SOMEONE CAME IN HERE AND DISTRACTED ME FOR A MINUTE, BUT FOR THE LITTLE KIDS, IT SOUNDS LIKE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT TRYING TO DISTRIBUTE CHROMEBOOKS, BUT WOULD THE IPADS BE A BETTER OPTION FOR ESPECIALLY, THE KIDS IN FIRST, SECOND, THIRD GRADE OR I DON'T KNOW.

>> WHAT OUR PLAN IS WITH THE CHROMEBOOKS, WE HAVE TWO MODELS OF THE CHROMEBOOKS THAT WE PURCHASED THIS LAST YEAR.

ONE MODEL IS A REGULAR COMPUTER CHROMEBOOK LIKE YOU'RE USED TO.

THE SECOND MODEL ACTUALLY FLIPS OVER AND TURNS INTO A TABLET.

SO AS WE ASSIGN THESE CHROMEBOOKS TO FAMILIES, IF THEY HAVE A YOUNG CHILD, A K THROUGH 3, WE'LL TRY AND GET THEM ONE OF THOSE.

>> TOUCHSREEN ONES?

>> WE GOT 300 MODELS THAT FLIPS OVER INTO A TABLET.

>> OKAY.

>> OKAY.

>> MR. REAVES, IS THAT GOING TO BE ONE DEVICE PER HOUSEHOLD?

>> CORRECT. RIGHT NOW OUR FIRST GOAL IS ONE DEVICE PER HOUSEHOLD, AND THEN AFTER WE GET THAT DONE, WE CAN MOVE INTO PHASE 2.

WE'RE TRYING TO GET EVERY STUDENT THEIR OWN DEVICE.

>> OKAY.

>> JUST TO ADD TO THAT, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM THE COMMISSIONER IS THAT IF WE KEEP UP WITH ALL THE ADDITIONAL EXPENSE THAT'S BEING CREATED AS A RESULT OF US ATTEMPTING TO PROVIDE THIS LEARNING IN A DIFFERENT MODEL, THAT THE EXPENSES WILL BE REIMBURSABLE.

SO WHAT WE DO RECOGNIZE IS THAT AFTER THIS CRISIS SUBSIDES, WE KNOW WE WILL STILL HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY WITHIN OUR BUILDINGS AND IF WE'VE GIVEN IT ALL OUT, THEN THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE.

SO WE'RE MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE DOCUMENTING THE ADDITIONAL EXPENSE THAT IT WILL TAKE US IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT KIDS GET DEVICES.

THE GOAL WOULD BE TO REALLY BE AGGRESSIVE ABOUT TRYING TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THOSE COSTS.

>> WELL, THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW.

ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS? OKAY. THANK YOU.

>> MS. DAVIS, THIS IS ANTHONY, I JUST WANTED TO UPDATE THE GROUP.

WE HAVE MORE THAN 145 PEOPLE PARTICIPATING THIS EVENING ON THIS CALL.

[00:45:04]

DR. LA TONYA WOODSON-MAYFIELD IS ONE OF THEM, SHE'S HEARING EVERYTHING, SHE'S JUST NOT ABLE TO SPEAK BUT SHE IS TEXTING ME, AND SO SHE IS ENGAGED.

SO WE HAVE A GREAT TURNOUT THIS EVENING FOR OUR FIRST-EVER TELECONFERENCE BOARD MEETING.

>> GREAT. DR. MCFARLAND, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE?

>> MR. KIRCHNER, IF YOU WILL WRAP UP, THE LAST TEAM THAT WE HAVE WAS THE COMMUNICATION TEAM, AND SO WE'LL LET MR. KIRCHNER WRAP UP ON WHAT'S GOING ON AS RELATES TO COMMUNICATION AROUND THE CRISIS.

>> THANK YOU, DR. MCFARLAND.

A BIG PROJECT FOR OUR TEAM THIS WEEK HAS BEEN THAT ONLINE SUPPORT CENTER YOU'VE HEARD THE TEAM TALKING ABOUT, THAT WENT LIVE MONDAY EVENING AND ALREADY IT'S HAD MORE THAN 13,000 PAGE VIEWS.

OUR WEBSITE WE USE BLACKBOARD, AND THE BLACKBOARD FOLKS LIKE THAT SITE SO MUCH THAT MATT HOOVER BUILT.

THEY USED THAT AS AN EXAMPLE TO THEIR NATIONAL CLIENTS THIS WEEK TO SHOW THEM WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP EDUCATE STUDENTS AND PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR PARENTS DURING THE SHUTDOWN.

WE'RE, OF COURSE, WORKING WITH THE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT TO HELP COMMUNICATE THAT UPCOMING DISTRIBUTION OF THE GOOGLE CHROMEBOOKS TO EVERY HOUSEHOLD AND THE HOTSPOT AS THEY'RE AVAILABLE.

WE'RE ALSO PLANNING A SURVEY FOR PARENTS DISTRICT-WIDE.

ONE, JUST TO FIND OUT HOW THEY'RE DOING, AND TWO, TO FIND OUT WHAT THEIR INTERNET ACCESS IS LIKE AND WHAT KIND OF DEVICES THEY HAVE IN THEIR HOME.

WE'LL BE HELPING MR. REAVES AND ARAMARK COMMUNICATE THOSE CHANGES TO MEAL PICKUP TIME THAT START NEXT WEEK, GOING DOWN FROM THREE PICKUPS TO TWO.

TOMORROW, WE'RE GOING TO GET ANOTHER VIDEO OUT FROM DR.

MCFARLAND HIGHLIGHTING THE LATEST WITH THE NOW EXTENDED CLOSURE TO APRIL 3RD, AND THESE NEW EXCITING CHANGES AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, SO OUR COMMUNITY CAN HEAR FROM DR. MCFARLAND AGAIN. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS?

>> QUESTIONS, COMMENTS?

>> I DO HAVE JUST ONE ADDITIONAL COMMENT.

I KNOW MR. REAVES AND MR. WALKER HAVE BEEN DOING TRIPLE TIME, AND MR. WALKER, I BELIEVE IS IT THE CUSTODIANS OR THE MAINTENANCE, I THINK A COMBINATION OF MAINTENANCE FOLKS THAT HAVE BEEN OUT EVERY MORNING AND AT EVERY LUNCH.

SO I JUST REALLY THINK, EVERYBODY'S BEEN WORKING REALLY HARD, BUT I KNOW MR. REAVES AND MR. WALKER AND THEIR TEAM HAS BEEN WORKING REALLY HARD AT, NOT ONLY PASSING OUT FOOD, BUT ALSO CLEANING OUR BUILDINGS AND MAKING SURE THAT THINGS ARE SAFE.

SO I JUST WANTED TO REALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THEM AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE WHOLE TEAM.

THE WHOLE TEAM WORKED REALLY HARD, BUT THEY HAVE REALLY GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND.

>> OKAY. THANK YOU.

SO I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION MR. KIRCHNER.

ARE WE UTILIZING THE SCHOOL MARQUIS IN ANY WAY? IS THERE ANY INFORMATION?

>> MS. DAVIS, NO, AND THAT IS ONE THING THAT IS ON OUR LIST THAT WE NEED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF.

A LOT OF TIMES THOSE ARE MAINTAINED BY THE CAMPUS SECRETARY, OR CUSTODIANS DEPENDING ON THE CAMPUS, AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT'S ON OUR ACTION LIST, IS TO UPDATE THOSE WITH, ESPECIALLY THE FOOD ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND THEN THE TECHNOLOGY COMING UP, BECAUSE THOSE JUST HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO BE UNLOCKED AND UPDATED, BUT THAT IS DEFINITELY ON OUR ACTION LIST.

>> OKAY. GOOD. ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS?

>> YEAH.

>> GO AHEAD.

>> YES. ON THE INTERNET DISTRIBUTION, THE HOTSPOTS ARE GOOD, BUT HAVE WE DONE ANYTHING THAT, MAYBE THIS IS NOT REALLY FEASIBLE RIGHT NOW, BUT THE COORDINATOR TALKED TO CHARTER, BECAUSE I KNOW THEY'RE GIVING FREE INTERNET OUT AND THOSE KIND OF THINGS, AND THEY MAY, I DON'T KNOW IF THEY'VE GOT ANY AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION ON PEOPLE WHO WE DON'T HAVE SERVICES, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY ISPS THERE ARE.

BUT HAVE WE TALKED TO ANY OF THE SERVICE PROVIDERS ABOUT THAT?

>> TRUSTEE RAY? THIS IS

>> I'M SORRY.

>> GO AHEAD MR. FISHER.

>> YES. WE ACTUALLY HAVE HAD A VERY BRIEF CONVERSATION WITH BOTH CHARTER SPECTRUM AND AT&T COMCAST.

UNFORTUNATELY, BECAUSE THOSE GUYS ARE OFFERING THE FREE 60-DAY INTERNET BROADBAND ACCESS FOR K THROUGH 12 HOUSEHOLDS, OR HOUSEHOLDS THAT HAVE K THROUGH 12 STUDENTS, THOSE GUYS HAD BEEN INUNDATED WITH PHONE CALLS.

THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESPOND BACK EXPEDITIOUSLY.

>> THAT MAKES SENSE. OKAY.

>> WELL, THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS?

>> MR. RAY, I'M SORRY. THIS IS MR. KIRCHNER.

[00:50:01]

ALSO WHAT WE'RE LEARNING IS THAT COMCAST IS NOT AVAILABLE IN EVERY CROWLEY IP NEIGHBORHOOD OR APARTMENT COMPLEX.

>> OKAY.

>> YEAH. PROBABLY, CHARTER.

>> I'VE GOT YOU.

>> EVERYBODY, WE'VE GOT A RANGE OF DIFFERENT PROVIDERS AVAILABLE IN DIFFERENT PLACES.

>> OKAY. ANYTHING ELSE? OKAY. AT THIS TIME, THE BOARD WILL ADJOURN INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION PURSUANT TO TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE 551.041 FOR A PRIVATE CONSULTATION WITH THE BOARD'S ATTORNEY AND 551.071 TO DISCUSS PERSONNEL.

OTHER PARTICIPANTS MAY REMAIN ON THIS PHONE LINE AND THE BOARD WILL RETURN TO THIS PHONE LINE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE SESSION.

SO WE'RE GOING TO TURN OUR PHONES OFF AND ADJOURN THIS MEETING TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION AT 06:49 PM.

OKAY. WE ARE BACK IN OPEN SESSION AT 07:41 PM.

OUR FIRST AGENDA ITEM IS AGENDA ITEM 2.1, RESOLUTION REGARDING CROWLEY ISD'S RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY.

>> I'M SORRY, WHO'S THAT?

>> I'LL SECOND.

>> YES, MA'AM.
